Beautiful restaurant. Bit dark for summer evening.shame there isnt an option to eat outside. Rooftop bar not too pretty. Botanic garden much nicer to sit in. Staff were very professional and friendly. Looked after from the moment we arrived untill we left. Food was very fresh and very tasty.

A really poor experience considering the compliments I’ve hear people give about this place. My €11 cocktail tasted like water, and despite two servers confirming I could get the Pad Thai without chilli it still was full of it. Nobody came to check on us during the food despite different servers looking at my full plate with wonder as they walked by as if their attitude was “not my problem”. When my boyfriend was finished his food they came over and basically just said “oh” and offered me a replacement. I declined, and while they did take it off the bill, after that nobody came to our table to offer tea or desert or see if we wanted another drink. After 30 minutes of trying to make eye contact I had to wave somebody over and ask for the bill. She then forgot and 15 minutes later rushed over and apologised. If it was busy I would have understood but we were one of maybe 10 tables in this large location. Definitely won’t be back.

Loved the atmosphere. Service was very good. Cocktails were amazing. Food quality didn't match unfortunately although the starter was lovely, the meat of the main course was dry and the sauce to oily. They did mention that they had set up at Taste of Dublin and were just getting the kitchen back in order, so I would definitely give it another go as the ambiance and service was lovely.

We had been dying to try Opium for weeks and when we finally made it down for dinner it did not disappoint. Amazing atmosphere, friendly service, incredible food and even kid friendly with coloring pages and menu for the kids. Vibrant and fun - one of the highlights of our trip.

Beautiful restaurant and outside space, very good food but service somewhat lacking. Also, experience marred by very drunk group beside us. I had also stated that it was our anniversary but this was not marked in anyway.

Attentive and friendly hostess warmly welcomed us and reviewed drink and menu options. The dishes delighted all of our senses accommodating both spicy and vegetarian preferences. One of the very best Thai dinners we have experienced. Specialty cocktails were enjoyed by all! Hostess checked back with us during our meal which made us feel extra special.

My mother hates dark environments, hates places crowded with noisy people, hates background electronic music, but she ended up loving it all because the food was just too incredibly good, and the staff was very nice and the interior design very sophisticated. Recommended!

We had a lovely meal here this week. We were going to a show at Whelan's next door that night, so we made an early reservation. We were seated right away, and got great service. We were surprised how fast our food came. Everything was clearly made fresh, with fresh ingredients and piping hot! I had the drunken noodles, and my fiancee had a noodle dish with tofu. She's a very picky eater, but we both really loved what we had. We each had a beer, and the final price was very reasonable for what we got. (Neither of us left hungry, and she had to take half of hers home in a box.) We definitely will be returning soon.

I had requested a booth table in advance and the waiter was very accommodating in arranging this. We then enjoyed a nice dinner and drinks in a lively atmosphere. Nice place, would definitely visit again.

Everything went perfectly for us here, my girlfriend and I visited here as it was our anniversary and this was the place that we met, I called the restaurant and told them this in advance and they told me not to worry and that they would look after us for the night. We arrived and there was a bottle of prosecco on our table waiting for us and the staff were all brilliant! Especially Ken, the barman in the botanical garden bar!

Amazing place for food and then drinks after. Couldn't recommend it any more!

We were visiting Dublin for a rugby match and had booked a table here based on the reviews, hadn't eaten there before and we were delighted with our choice! This a stylish, vibrant restaurant with well trained staff. We had booked our table via the the TA/Opentable app, the restaurant tried to call us to reconfirm in the middle of the match so we missed the call but arrived at the restaurant and were seated immediately. The food here is DELICIOUS. Really fresh and flavoursome and authentic. We had the Duck spring rolls, the Vietnamese rolls, the Laksa and the Beef Rendang, with a lovely bottle of NZ Sauvignon blanc, all thoroughly enjoyed in the great atmosphere...we will definitely be back here next time we were in Dublin, 5 stars...

Service from the bar was disappointing, we finished our starters before we got our drinks and it wasn’t busy. Bar service needs to match the kitchen quality

Delicious food and a great restaurant. If only the service wasn’t so slow. Felt like we weren’t really looked after. When we did get service it was really good though. Beautiful decor and ambiance is really good. Doubtful I’ll go again for dinner though. Good for drinks.

I booked this after reading several reviews. It was my wife's pre-birthday and the first night we'd flown into Dublin. Parking a new rental jag felt a bit sketchy because of the boisterousness of the local clientele, but the minute we walked in...I knew we would have a fantastic evening! The restaurant was vibrant and fantastically decorated, great background music and the food couldn't be flawed. I paid London prices, but it was well worth it! Upstairs there's apparently a popular club, we didn't venture there, but the bar downstairs and the botanical garden (essentially a very green and decorated bar at the back) added to the experience.

Generally OK. However I found the restaurant a bit too noisy. The service while generally OK could be improved. For example my friend ordered a Thai green curry and the waiter did not understand her and thought she wanted Pad Thai. I thought maybe the noise level may have made conversation and comprehension difficult. I ordered the rendang and while the dish was good and OK I don't think that it is an authentic rendang dish and it was a bit too sweet. I wanted to give this restaurant a try and while it was generally OK I don't think I will be coming back.

This is possibly one of the best meals out I have ever had. My friends and I were visiting Dublin for a weekend and Opium was recommended by a friend who lives in Dublin. The staff were incredibly attentive (but not annoyingly so) - really good at explaining the menu. The food was so tasty and great portion sizes and the flavours were divine. We chose the set menu with a slight adaption. Highly recommend this - brilliant and lovely setting.
