   Great service right at the heart of Canal Street along the French Quarter. They had a number of large groups dining but kept the food moving. Our server was so sweet and very attentive. The food was well seasoned and lots of options on the menus for different pallets. Reservations are a good idea because those who asked were told 45 min wait minimum.

   We had a great experience. Our server Nicole was outstanding and really made our visit special. The Salade Niçoise was delicious, my husband's burger was great, and of course the Bananas Foster were the perfect way to cap off our anniversary dinner.

   The restaurant is beautiful. The food was very good. I did not have a 5 because the entrees did not have enough selection. I wanted fish but it was trout and I don’t eat trout. You need more choices. Our server, missy was great and loved her cooking the bananas foster

   I’ve been coming here since 1992. This is the first time I’ve been disappointed. The good, the white chocolate bread pudding especially, were markedly below the standard I had loved for decades.

   I asked through Open Table for a table for two in a low traffic area. We were put into a corner table that was under an air conditioning duct that was blowing air of less that 65 degrees, we asked to move and we were given the table next to the original setting that backed up to the waiter’s station at which the staff hacked about their personal lives durationof our dinner. I noticed the organization of the restaurant at 5:00 (as early setting, for sure). There were two other couples in the whole restaurant! Why were we set where we were? There were much more pleasant spaces in the room for a pleasant untroubled dinner! Secondly, I ordered a rusty mail from the bar upstairs. I did not get a rusty nail! Made of Drambuie and Dewars, this must have had Desorano in it—it was awful—when challenged the bar tender, she insisted it was made correctly…I didn’t finish the drink! I’m both an old waiter and Bar tender…these issues nearly ruined our date….except for the service of the waitress—who did very well and the hanger steak that was prepared perfectly. The only think that the waitress could have done was offered to replace the drink. When a customer pressed displeasure with a product then a offering to make something better saves the day. Otherwise it stays in the memory!

   We dined upstairs. Crabmeat cheesecake and the mousse foie de canard were both spectacular. Nice bottle of Prosecco at a good price. Loved the house salad. Everyone was friendly sly. Dined upstairs overlooking Canal Street. Beautiful sunset and images of the Little Red Lady streetcar. We had the lemon tart for dessert. The couple next to us had the flambé Bananas Foster which was prepared tableside.

   Spending the money here is not worth it. I only ordered two appetizers (The shrimp appetizer was not fresh, and we didn't finish it.) and two bowls of gumbo ya ya. The bill came to $83.00 (which included a 15% tip). Very disappointing!!!!

    Our meals at Palace Cafe are always great! Try to make sure you give it a try when you are in NOLA!!! Ask for MO, she was a great server! I know it sounds weird...but order the CRABMEAT CHEESECAKE as an HORS D'OEUVRES. It was wonderful.

    We had reservations. Our server deana was rude and made it clear that it was late and she was done mentally for the night. Very poor customer service. Apps were good, entrees disappointing and she stated “we threw out the coffee” when asked. We gave her a good tip bc our group is generous but we will never be back. I live here in Nola and was trying to impress my family and friends. This did NOT happen

    Our experience at Palace Cafe was not great, and it wasn’t awful. They were clearly short-handed in the dining room. Our waitress was lovely so the poor mark against service has nothing to do with her. She had a huge party plus a few other tables. I could tell she was stressed, and she wasn’t getting any help. There were at least 25 people working in the kitchen, yet minimal waitstaff. There were 4 employees standing at the host station (including a manager) and not one of them offered to help our struggling waitress or any of the other waitstaff. The other big thing we noted is that not one employee was smiling or appeared happy to be there. I do not recommend Palace Cafe. I hope the other Brennan-owned businesses are better run and hopefully treat their employees good so they are happy.

    I returned to this landmark restaurant for the first time in 20 years and was sad to see its decline. I chose it because I recall the food was excellent but also a nice environment. I returned to find it felt dirty - plates and things left uncleared, dirty bathroom, and everything needed a scrub. I was also looking for a special occasion vibe but any sense of a dress code is long gone with my fellow diners in tshirts, flip flops and baseball caps. And not of the dressy variety as I have seen some classy looking sneakers and T-shirts. I’m not looking for formal or pretentious or a place that doesn’t recognize diversity of styles. But this was just like a super casual vibe. Plenty of places for that. Upstairs seemed more quiet with seemingly more effort in attire. Service was fine but also a little more casual and care free then I expected. Food was fine. But not setting this place apart in any way.

    appertizer mushroom crostini came out stale, not fresh. switched to another appertizer with better success main course came out while still eating appertizer salad lyonnaise with duck confit was uninspiring. Ingredients were soggy and wilted. again, not freshly put together. strawberry shortcake follows the same pattern, dish probably made in the morning and served to us at 6:30. unfortunately the whole meal seemed premade and served hours later

    Every customer that requested a booth was seated underneath dripping air condition vents. Wait staff pretended not to know, but this process was observed with each newcomer. Each customer then requested to be moved to a table. Beware of the booths up against the wall.

    We had a late lunch. White tablecloths are not laid out for lunch, creating an easy-going vibe. Enjoy the food as you plan the rest of your day. It's great for people watching in and out of the cafe.

    The restaurant had been recommended to me by a fellow tourist and overall it did not disappoint. I had the fried catfish with rice and beans, which was delicious. Dessert was strawberry shortcake, which was too sweet for my taste and, quite frankly, it wasn't shortbread. More like a scone of some nature. Service was excellent.

    We were promptly seated. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu when we had questions. I had the tuna niccoise salad. It was very good. My husband had the half chicken. It was very good too. Then we had the chocolate mousse for dessert. It was delicious. Will go back again

    Hadn't been in some time and was so pleased service and food continues to be top notch. From the time we arrived, we were so warmly greeted. Ms. Kadisha, our server was truly exceptional. She ensured our water glasses were never emptied, provided an excellent pace so we were not rushed to get to our concert, and ended our dinner with the most scrumptious Banana Fosters ever!!!     I have been here well over a dozen times. It's always been excellent, until last night. Of course the food was great but the service was mediocre, at best. Our food was brought out and sat on a tray for about 10 minutes before someone would notice and then it was brought it to the table, same with the dessert. It was not very busy but I think our waitress was overwhelmed. Especially with all the bananas foster they have to make table side which takes time away from other tables. I also had to ask for our check 3 times in 30 minutes from our waitress. It was a terrible experience overall. There was only two of us and we are very easy diners. Will have to think about if we would like to return in the future. *instead of the food runners leaving food on a tray, just take it to the table or make sure the waitress is aware*
