Our charming restaurant, located along the romantic allure of the Butterslip Lane, serves wonderful Irish food with warm and friendly service.

We serve Brunch and Dinner from Tuesday to Saturday or come and try Petronella's famous Sunday Roast.

Located on the medieval Butterslip Lane, Petronella, just like her namesake, has an illustrious past, located in one of Kilkenny's oldest and historic buildings. The restaurant pays homage to Petronella, the first woman accused of witchcraft in Ireland and the first woman in Europe to be executed by burning at the stake, just a few steps from our door.

We had a fabulous meal at Petronella. Beautiful cozy restaurant in a quiet cobbled side street. Food was amazing, loved the signature salad and will try to recreate it, and the steak was unreal! My friend is a vegan and she was delighted to have a choice instead of the normal one vegetarian dish! Definitely recommend

We saw this adorable place in the afternoon so went back for dinner. I have celiac disease and my Open Table account lists it. The server immediately said “ which one of you needs gluten free?” She offered the menu listing allergens or she could tell me which selections were GF. I opted for 2 which was most of the menu with minimal substitutions. The food was phenomenal. We shared Prawns with Chorizo and GF bread. My main was Herb Roast Chicken with Potatoes and Honeyed Carrots. Dessert, Meringues with ice cream and berry compote. All excellent!

Fantastic restaurant with fantastic staff and fantastic food. Keep it up. We came from the Netherlands and it was really worth the journey.

Menu didn’t match what was posted online and being vegetarian we were disappointed. If the menu changes often that is wonderful but take the time to post it on the website especially if that is the vibe you are trying to send. Lovely atmosphere
