About this restaurant

Great for creative cocktails
Good for special occasions
Great for happy hour

Known as the eclectic neighborhood gastropub, Pubbelly Sushi brings a hyper-creative fusion of Japanese and Latin-inspired dishes by chef José Mendín. When Mendín founded the first Pubbelly, his intention was singular: Create a place where chefs could eat high-quality, affordable dishes in a cool atmosphere. Pubbelly became an instant locals' favorite when it opened in 2010. A decade later, it continues to be embraced by the market, winning the 2020 Miami New Times Readers' Choice Award for "Best Sushi", and maintaining a spot on every tourist's "must" list.

We ordered three appetizers and two sushi rolls, but the fish didn’t taste fresh and the presentation was quite disappointing. The service started off great, but as the restaurant got busier, it went downhill. It took about 15 minutes just to get the check, and another 10 minutes after I asked for the receipt. For the prices they charge, I expected much better quality and attention. I had been to the Pubbelly near Dadeland Mall before and really enjoyed it… great food, good service, and overall a much better experience. That’s why we decided to try this one in Pembroke since it was closer that day, but it was nothing like the other location. Very inconsistent between branches. Sadly, I wouldn’t go back.

Pembroke Pines is a large suburb and restaurants for years operate in a family friendly price sensative environment. Knowing Pubbelly operates in urban suburban tourist areas, they never adjusted to the market conditions. Growing customer connecting from open day was not in the plans. The concept and ambience is ideal, the service level is spot on, though half day Mondays and different promotions does not build consistent weekly profits. Great location, set up and team, revamp the menu to serve smaller dishes that are price sensative to our community. Currently 30% to 40% above other category competitors in the area
Pubbelly Sushi Pembroke PinesResponded on 1 September 2025
Hello Morlin We’re very glad to know you value our concept, ambiance, and service level, and we appreciate your perspective on how Pubbelly can better fit the Pembroke Pines community. We understand your concerns about pricing, menu size, and promotions. While our brand has historically operated in urban and tourist areas, our goal here is to connect with local guests and provide value without compromising on quality. Your suggestions about introducing more price-sensitive dishes and building consistency through promotions are very valuable, and we will share them with our management team. We’re proud of our team and service, and we’ll keep working to align with the expectations of this community. We hope to welcome you back soon and show you improvements as we grow together.

The manager and food are both top notch. Service, while friendly, not the most attentive. Maybe they were understaffed. Overall it was a good experience.

Food was great as usual but the service was not good at all. Unfortunately because I see the investors put quite some money there. And I went on a Saturday night and capacity was only 50%. Can be improved.

First time trying this place and my son and I were really impressed. Sushi was great, he liked the Korean wings; service was excellent. Atmosphere is great, too. Happy to recommend and will definitely dine here again when I'm in the area.
