Owner / Chef Mozy Jahanguiri, who has run restaurants in Chicago, Minneapolis, and Dallas, has opened The Rancho Santa Fe Bistro in the space formerly occupied by The Pantry on Paseo Delicias. Mozy has prepared a menu that offers a wide variety of healthy and stylish fresh grill and more offering a balanced approach to food and wine along with bistro favorites including Oysters Rockefeller, traditional escargots, baked brie with grapes and honey and more for starters. Entrees to satisfy any taste of carefully sourced meats, seafood and much more. This is one of the best hidden gems in RSF, the service was great and the atmosphere is perfect to catch up with friends or family. I ordered the lamb shank and it was fantastic. I am not a dessert person BUT….. if you don’t save room for the apple pie a la mode you will miss out on the best pie in SD. We will be back!

We love this neighborhood gem in Rancho Santa Fe. It's always been a dependable winner for food quality with a slightly different twist and well prepared. The ambiance is quiet so you can actually hear the conversation of people you are dining with. Big plus!!! The slow roasted steak was amazing, ditto for our salmon. Wines are excellent. We hadn't been there in a while but it was as good as always.

The service was friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and prices were reasonable. We arrived early for our reservation and it was quiet inside, as the evening progressed and the restaurant filled, it was much louder. It was a Saturday night after all. We had a lovely experience and will definitely return when it’s warmer and we can sit outside.

Our first visit, but it won't be our last. The wine selection was good, and both the duck and branzino were excellent. We enjoyed the sauteed mushrooms and spinach side dishes, and the lemon cake desert was perfect.

We’ve had dinner many many times at the Bistro. it’s one of our favorite restaurants and the food is always excellent. If you’ve not had it before, their escargot is outstanding, so full of flavor, you want to order a second round. I tend to stay away from New York steaks, because I find them generally to be a little tough, even though they’re very flavorful, but I ordered a New York steak the last time I was there and it was as tender as can possibly be, I was so impressed. Everything is truly excellent and great wine selection as well!! The owners could not be more hospitable!

The Bistro is a favorite restaurant of ours, the owners are wonderful, the atmosphere feels like you’re in France, the service is spectacular (ask for Jesse!) and the food is delicious! We come here for dinner often and I highly recommend it!!

What a charming and elegant experience at Rancho Santa Fe Bistro the other night. I took my adult son there because I know he loves a delicious duck breast. We were politely greeted and escorted to a quite table. The place is decorated with many items you find in a home and personal pictures make the place very inviting. We don’t drink alcohol but the wine menu was extensive and pleasing. We started with salads, the house and Cesar, both with just the right amount of dressing. My son had his duck breast with a light cherry and blackberry brandy sauce. I had the filet kabob. Both were prepared to the proper doneness. There is nothing worse than over cooked meat. My son raved about the duck and said it was one of the best he’d had. My kebab was delicious as well. We finished the meal with some cappuccino. We’ll be back. Bon Appetite!

Unfortunately, perhaps because it was a holiday, there was one waiter serving nearly a dozen tables. There were four of us, and the meal for one of us came first, when the rest came about 40 minutes later.The flatbreads were more like Stouffer’s. The ambience is great. Perhaps if we had come a different day, we would not have had to wait one hour for our food.

What a little gem in Rancho Santa Fe and Encinitas. The ambiance is charming, the service impeccable and food exquisite. The decor made you feel like you were in a Paris bistro. The owner and Tanya were very welcoming. My wife had a bowl of lentil soup and simple house salad with grilled salmon. Both were delicious. I had the NY sirloin steak au poivre with wild mushrooms and mashed potatoes. All were properly prepared and devine. What an enjoyable evening. I’ll be back for the duck breast. Give it a try.
