  • A la carte and Kaiseki

    1 - 6 people

    Multiple dates available
On select evenings, Rei offers an à la carte menu alongside our kaiseki. This format allows guests to explore a range of seasonal dishes at their own pace, with the flexibility to curate a more personalized experience. While more open in structure, each dish reflects the same attention to balance, technique, and ingredient quality that defines our kitchen. Guests may choose between à la carte selections or the full kaiseki experience.
  • Kaiseki Menu

    US$150.00 - US$280.00 per person

    1 - 6 people

    Multiple dates available
Thursday through Saturday, Rei presents a focused kaiseki experience designed to be enjoyed in full. Each evening is guided through a seasonal progression of dishes, thoughtfully composed to highlight balance, timing, and the natural expression of each ingredient. This format allows us to deliver a more immersive and precise experience, where every course builds upon the last. We recommend allowing approximately two hours to fully enjoy the kaiseki.

POV: You found a hidden Tokyo-style kaiseki experience in the heart of SoHo 🍶✨ @reirestaurants The menu blends traditional Japanese techniques with modern French and Italian influences. You can choose a seasonal kaiseki experience or order à la carte dishes. From beautifully plated seasonal dishes to the warm open-kitchen setting, every course feels thoughtful, refined, and full of detail. It’s the kind of place where dinner becomes a slow, immersive experience✨ The seasonal course begins with silky Japanese-style pudding topped with sea urchin and caviar, followed by seasonal sashimi, crispy chicken tempura with shibazuke tartar, and seared medium-fatty tuna with sesame sauce and spicy chili oil. I’m so obsessed with mini ramen with pork kakuni and quail egg, tender Miyazaki Wagyu served with citrus ponzu and grated daikon, and a chilled yuzu custard with caramelized sugar to finish. Every course is beautifully balanced, creative, and full of delicate Japanese flavors 🍶 Rei Restaurant 📍p142 Sullivan St, New York, NY 10012 #reirestaurants #omakase #sohofood #finedinning #nyeats

Rei has a cozy and charming atmosphere with delightful staff and fantastic food. Every bite was crafted with so much care and we watched every dish being made in the open kitchen. The Kaiseki offerings are superb, but you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. If you haven’t added this gem to your NYC restaurant wish list yet, this is your sign to go! #nycfoodphotography #nycjapanesefood #nycfoodie #nyckaiseki #japanesefoodlover

📍rei restaurant , nyc 142 Sullivan St, NY Firefly squid with mustard miso dressing $25 🦑 Japanese omelet with grilled eel $30 🍳 Beef and potato croquette $25 🥔 Seaweed coated fried fish cake $20 🐟 Kaiseki course menu $200 🍣 Intimate Japanese spot with a refined kaiseki-style dining experience and a cozy atmosphere. They offer both tasting menus and à la carte options, which is great if you’re not looking to commit to a full omakase-style meal. We went with one of the course menus, which included a sashimi assortment, Wagyu stuffed cabbage roll, crab cream croquette, grilled fish, mini ramen, Wagyu, and dessert. Everything was beautifully plated and surprisingly, quite filling. We also ordered a few à la carte dishes, which we really enjoyed—the omelet, beef and potato croquette, and fried fish cake all stood out. #nycfood #nyceats #nyc #japanese #westvillage

Tokyo in Soho: Inside @reirestaurants , NYC’s Most Authentic 20-Seat Kaiseki Gem 🎏 They have a few different tasting menu tiers ranging from $120-$250. We did the $150 set menu + added some extra à la carte plates because we wanted the best of both worlds. the $150 set menu 🥢 • japanese-style pudding w/ uni & caviar • seasonal sashimi (the freshness was insane) • chicken tempura w/ shibazuke tartar & yuzu pepper • seared medium fatty tuna w/ crispy chili oil • mini ramen - the soya creamy broth + perfectly al dente noodles = chef’s kiss • grilled miyazaki wagyu w/ daidai ponzu • yuzu catalana for a refreshing finish à la carte extras ✨ • seared wagyu yukke w/ uni & ikura - a literal need! • unagi don • beef tongue tempura - so tender the best part? it’s a no-tipping restaurant. tax and service fees are already built into the price, so no math at the end, just vibes. 📍 Rei Restaurant | 142 Sullivan St, NYC Save this for your next kaiseki date, and follow for me @xopinsta for more hidden gems! 🍣 #sohoeats #nycfoodie #reirestaurants #nyckaiseki #usfoodiesanonymous

An intimate tasting menu experience that feels worlds away—right in SoHo 🇯🇵✨ Tucked along a quiet street, this hidden gem delivers a refined Japanese dining journey that instantly transports you to Tokyo. Every detail—from the minimalist space to the chef-led counter—feels thoughtful and immersive. We explored one of their multi-course tasting menus, and it was a full experience from start to finish. Highlights included melt-in-your-mouth Miyazaki wagyu, beautifully sliced seasonal sashimi, and a delicate dessert that wrapped everything up perfectly. Each course was intentional, balanced, and quietly impressive. The atmosphere is just as memorable—with subtle traditional touches that make the whole night feel special. If you’re planning a date night or celebrating something meaningful, this is the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression. 🥂 Kaiseki Course Menu ($200) Seasonal Sashimi Assortment Wagyu Stuffed Cabbage Roll Crab Cream Croquette Today’s Grilled Fish Mini Ramen with Pork Kaki, quail egg and Smaked Takuan Grilled Miyazaki wagyu with Dada Ponzu and Grated Daikon Roasted sweet potato and Tofu cheese Mousse Monaka @reirestaurants 📍142 Sullivan St, New York Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs! #reirestaurants #kaiseki #hiddengem #sohonyc #japanesedining

A new boutique Japanese gem hidden in SoHo that is quintessential for date night 💕 . I had an incredible dinner at @reirestaurants. Everything I had from their 6 course Kaiseki menu ($120) were culinary standouts. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were thoughtful, and the plating was a work of art. Dishes included uni & caviar chawamushi, seared chutoro, wagyu, mini ramen, chicken tempura, and dessert. You can also order from the a la cart menu (which I highly recommend the nori & caviar dish) . It was also so impressive to see that Rei has a no-tipping policy which is in true Japanese fashion, while the service was beyond excellent. Big shout out to Ryan for being such a gracious and knowledgeable host (he speaks perfect Japanese!)who made this such a memorable and unique dining experience for us. ✨

Rei is my great discovery. “Kaiseki“ but casual and you can talk to the chef while he is cooking. Rare in NYC! They use the best quality material to produce the best plates. I can go back again and again!!

I finally found my favorite Japanese restaurant in New York! 🇯🇵❤️ REI was exactly what I’ve been looking for — and honestly, everything was beyond my expectations. As a Japanese person, I’m pretty particular about Japanese food, and it’s surprisingly difficult to find a restaurant in NYC that feels truly authentic to me. There are amazing high-end omakase and kaiseki restaurants, of course, but they can easily become a $300–$500+ dinner. What I loved about REI is that it’s izakaya-style and à la carte, so you can choose exactly what you feel like eating and share different dishes instead of committing to a set menu. And everything we ordered was SO delicious. 😍 It’s definitely not cheap, but it’s the kind of place I can actually imagine coming back to once in a while — not just for a once-a-year special occasion. Finally!! I found my Japanese restaurant in NYC. 🥰🇯🇵

Phenomenal experience from start to finish. The restaurant is intimate and quiet. The food is delectable. Favorites were the wagyu and mini ramen. Though there were no disappointments regardless. The tasting menu is totally worth it but we did add a couple of supplements (charred eel and wagyu stuffed cabbage). My only regret is not sitting at the bar to watch the chef at work!

Booked a table to celebrate a loved ones birthday and we were both blown away by the service. The small space is so intimate that it can feel like being at the chef's table no matter where they seat you. The menu was amazing and very filling. Highly recommend!
