Created by chef Paolo Vernetti (Jamie's, Carluccio's) and partners Vanessa Vaz, Barak Peled and Barry McCaughley, Morso is an independent, community-centred restaurant serving fresh pasta and small Italian bites, with a carefully balanced line of grappa-based cocktails.

The fresh pasta and small bites menu include signature creations like the Egg Yolk Raviolo and Welsh lamb Scottadito alongside more familiar recipes like the tagliatelle cacio e pepe and a pappardelle with shin ragu - all at under the £10 per plate mark.

On the bar front, the team is determined that their #grapprevolution will make every visitor a grappa-convert - with a line of over 20 different grappa bottles (including the famous Nonino Amaro, and a 3-litre grappa Storica magnum) and 12 grappa-based cocktails to match the food offer

Very friendly atmosphere and, when we were there, very few other diners. (Not a fan of piped music though). This isn’t a luxury dining experience but the food and natural friendliness of the waiters more than compensates. The informality of the experience suits us very well and the Tapas format is also effective: We particularly enjoyed sharing a large variety of dishes most of which were extremely tasty and well prepared. The fresh pasta is outstanding.

Took my parents here for lunch during the week and we had a fantastic meal. The service was warm, efficient and knowledgeable, everything we ate was excellent- and incredibly good value. I will definitely return and have recommended this restaurant to several friends.

Lovely people and a great idea but the only Italian was the Chef! Need to improve the standard of the food before I would return. It seems to be focussed on grappa and grappa cocktails - a new one on me - probably will appeal to the younger generation

St Johns Wood is not spoiled for good restaurants, so welcome Morso! A buzzy, friendly place with tasty food and charming service. I’m not always a fan of the small sharing plates trend, but Morso does it well, with reasonable size portions at very reasonable prices. With good food teamed with the grappa cocktails, we had a very enjoyable evening. The location on Boundary Road is a bit off the beaten track so would recommend that you find your way here and help this excellent restaurant to become a great success.
