Riva in Helensburgh is one of the finest Italian and Mediterranean restaurants in town. On West Clyde Street, the Riva dining space is stylish and comfortable which, in a way, reflects the food: traditional, wholesome recipes prepared and presented in a contemporary way. Delightful find. Wonderful welcome by Hannah who served us all night. Lovely ambience very cleverly decorated with great attention to detail. Food was delicious. The portions weren’t huge and were very tasty. Great knowledge of the menu by staff made ordering easy. Overall a superb find. We will be back!!

Two courses both very poor. Some inedible it was so poor. It was almost as if the chef hadn't turned up and someone who can't cook was filling in. Front of house staff were friendly and helpful and they did lower our bill but frankly at £55 it was a rip off. The place was also cold and could have done with some heating. Not much chance of us coming back here anytime soon. Very disappointing.

We have visited Riva several times and this time, like all the others it did not disappoint. The food was amazing, tasty and well presented. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We will most certainly be back again very soon

We really like the Riva. They are making a big push with new management oversight to polish a few areas of the menu and just make the experience even nicer. We appreciate Marian’s hospitality and efforts and you can tell the staff are really responding to her style.

Some of food served was not as described on menu. Staff didn’t offer to rectify, when asked about it.One of the meals was a bowl of sauce with very little pasta. Pasta sauces disappointing. Tea was Luke warm. Overall a disappointing visit.

Unfortunately our main courses were the size of the usual starters, and the price has gone up. I know times are hard but if rather pay slightly more for the same quantity of food you used to serve a few weeks ago. The staff were helpful although our waitress was constantly chewing chewing gum with her mouth open. We were regulars but wont be back.

The food was alright probably a big expensive for what you get. The main thing that spoiled the night was the lack of service, we waited to be served then waited at least 15minutes with empty plates on the table.

Terribly rude manager turned us away after we had booked online. Said he didn’t have room for us even though there was only three tables seated in the whole place - his excuse was ‘he had a large booking for 18 just about to arrive’ If that was the case, how could we book a table? Clearly he didn’t want our business.

Service was very poor, servers were polite but disorganised. Shown to our seat outside and left for ages. A server popped her head out of the door a few times but we had to wave her over to take our order. We asked if the wine we had selected was dry and were told well it is and it isn't. Not much help but as it turned out it was very nice. The food came in good time but was taken to the wrong table in error (as were most dishes that came outside). We really enjoyed our starters and main courses. We would have waited there for another drink but as we had to be somewhere after lunch we decided to cut our losses and ask for the bill while a server was in sight.
