St. Jacques is always the best. Wish we could afford to eat there more often.
We have been twice in the last 2 months and have found our new favorite restaurant for special occasions!
Apparently Saint Jacques has gone through an ownership and kitchen change and
their renowned chef Serge Serge Falcoz-Vigne is no longer there.
My wife enjoyed her salad but the duck had not been trimmed properly. My escargot were lukewarm, shriveled and the garlic-parsley butter had "evaporated". I suspect they were previously prepare, dried out and reheated.
As to the wine list the best I can say is that it was mostly a "grocery store" list with little attention to food pairings.
Oh, our server was excellent and tried her best. Before we left the hostess was kind enough to give us a nice gift certificate.
I don't think I can recommend Saint Jacques and we certainly won't be returning.
Beautiful restaurant in a convenient location. We were warmly greeted immediately upon entering and shown to a lovely table. Our server, Michael, provided impeccable attention and service and wonderful recommendations when asked. The onion soup was the best I’ve ever tasted. Food quality was wonderful; just wish there were a few more choices. Would also have liked a prix fixed 3 course menu like we’ve enjoyed in other French restaurants. That being said, it was a wonderful experience all the way around. The ambiance can’t be beat and I whole-heartedly recommend this establishment.
Outstanding, this was the best meal I've had in a long time. It's nice to taste sherry in the onion soup and not mostly salt in what others call "French onion soup". We had scallops and the filet, both were delicious. The peppercorn sauce on the filet was so flavorful, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Consistent excellent food and service at St Jacques!
We love this restaurant but it fell a little short on our NYE and birthday celebration. A couple of the courses were not really hot but they were tasty. The bisque for instance was overpowering and too thick - and not really hot. They don’t serve iced tea!! This would be an easy fix as they serve hot tea - and also do not serve French press coffee. For goodness sake — it’s a French restaurant and strictly from an economic perspective could make a killing if they purchased a few French press pots. On a positive note, the filet was excellent.
We enjoyed our evening dinner and the service was top notch. A little stingy on the food for the price but nice ambiance
We went out to celebrate our 28th anniversary. I think our experience can be summed up in the old saying, "One bad apple, spoils the bunch". Our experience was just ok, we both wished it had been better. The biggest issue was the duck magret, it was served with no sear at all on the skin and none of the fat rendered. The meat I fought to separate was delicious but so much was wasted clinging to the centimeter of fat and skin I was served. When we complained the manager(?) came over to tell me that I was wrong and that was the way the chef intended it. Our neighboring table also got the duck and proclaimed it was the worst duck they had ever had anywhere. They offered a gift card as an apology, but we had agreed we wouldn't be returning and wouldn't feel good recommending them to a friend, so we left the gift card for the waiter. In addition our neighboring table was brought dessert "on the house" for their anniversary, where we were not offered anything. Not that we were expecting it but when you serve people sitting 4 feet from us and announce it...well, enough said there. When asked our neighbors said they didn't say anything about their dissatisfaction but they were not likely to return.
On the positive side; the scallop appetizer was very good as was the escargot. My wife's steak was perfect and tender. Our waiter Andrew was extremely nice and attentive despite it being his first night there.
This is a great restaurant. They serve the best French style food in the area. The service was great. Would definitely visit them again.
Great food and service.
Food was excellent and service was very good. I'd highly recommend the Smore dessert.
Exceptional staff, service and food. Highly recommend.
Squash Bisque was amazing. Loved all three courses.
Always special, service is excellent. As is the food.
Escargots cold and hard - terribles
Fish to dry or overcooks
Sercice very acceptable
I asked for any kind of potato on the side, they don’t have
I had more than two years to comeback and is a down quality overall
Our server ken was excellent despite the restaurant being a little short staffed. Food was excellent as usual
We went to St Jacques to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had gone to this restaurant once before and we had a great time . This time was a bit different though, the ambiance was great as the first time (nice , cozy , quiet) , and the service was also very good . The food however was a disappointment, I had the Rilettes de Porc ( pork confit), it was tasteless… the bread that came with it was very hard . My second dish was the Boeuf Bourguignon , very small portion and about 1:3 was pure fat . The desert was crème brûlée which was good . In conclusion it was an ok experience that left us with a bitter sweet feeling about this restaurant
Portions are small but very tasty. Service is fast and friendly.
Dinner was great. Service was great. We really enjoyed our dinner
Best restaurant in Raleigh. I highly recommend. 10/10
We went here for the first time for our anniversary. The food was amazing. Our server did a great job making recommendations, and was very personable. The wine list was spectacular. The desserts were the best part…I’ll be craving them for a long time!!!! Can’t wait to go back!
We had multiple waiters. Mix ups. Wrong food delivered to table. Bread was stale and hard. My duck breast was tough as leather. Wifes desert was like boxed pudding. Room was cold and dull. Not like our restaurants we go to in Paris. Will not be going back anymore. Used to be much better. Used to have live music. Was fun years ago. Too bad. Wont be long for this place. Rushed all evening. Told waitress to back off a bit you are rushing us. Was our 39th anniversary but no recognition like 2 other tables received.
Wonderful food, wonderful service. Steps above the other French restaurants in the area.
Took our parents to dinner who were visiting from CA, and we all enjoyed our dinner. Probably best of all were the incredible desserts! Wonderful experience! We’ll be back soon!
Have dined at SJ many times. However, I haven't been in a couple of years. I was wondering if it was just as great as it used to be. It most definitely was! Perfect experience as usual! Food was scrumptious. Drinks and wine were amazing. Service was impeccable. Great for a special occasion! Don't let the shopping center fool you. If you’ve never been, then you're missing out!
The food was fine but not really special like it was a few years ago. I felt that the price was a little much for the food provided.
Alex out server was awesome
We had a wonderful experience! We were celebrating a couple of special events and this was a perfect place for our celebration!!
Excellent service, food, and a very quiet ambiance! We will look forward to returning soon.
I really was excited to go and try this restaurant. I have to say that the service was absolutely phenomenal. I just wish that the food had matched. Unfortunately, I just did not feel like it was worth the money … the food was meh….
Amazing food! So delicious and great service. Highly recommend.
Fabulous food. Attentive (even fun) service. Highly recommend!
Our food and service was amazing. Saint Jacques helped us celebrate our wedding with their excellent dinner, drinks, and dessert.
Truly outstanding food and service.
The staff was very friendly and the food was fantastic. The price was very reasonable for the quality of food and care. We will be back
We could actually have a conversation. Never rushed and food was delicious.
We will go back.
Great night. Food was great service was outstanding. A little pricey but very nice night.
Nothing on the menu French except escargot. Extremely overpriced average food with very small portions. Would not recommend.
The experience was superb. Service was flawless in every aspect. We were seated without issue, despite arriving about 10 minutes early for our reservation. Still water was brought out immediately, but sparkling was offered. That was soon followed by fresh bread, and a perfectly spaced 1st/2nd course and dessert. Recommendations were educated, genuinely based on personal experience and up to date with any recent/seasonal changes. The food was great, the wine was great, the environment is warm and den-like, but the service was truly top tier. I sincerely could not have asked for a better experience. Considering all of that, I find the cost associated to be warranted. I will be returning and have already recommended it to some close friends.
