Everything Saint Jacques did was fine. It was just missing some of the elements. Delicious selection of classic items on the menu with lovely presentation & innovation with flavors. Nicely chosen wine list; I like that our server recommended 2 choices & let me sample both of them. The linens were nice; no flowers on the tables. No music (a little Edith Piaf in the background would be a plus). Decor was a bit plain. The exterior sign was the only one on the block not lit; we drove around the parking lot twice looking for the restaurant. It was apparent that staff was working really hard & very busy; not relaxed environment. This lovely idea of a French restaurant is missing the ambience & attitude that make France so lovely.

The sever John was outstanding. The soup of the day was very salty and the rack of lamb was overdone. This was not worth the high dollar price tag.

This was our third time dining at Saint Jacques, and this time we were deeply disappointed in our experience. When I made the reservation, I indicated that we would be celebrating my mother's 75th birthday. The man who seated us asked whether we were celebrating anything special and I repeated this statement. At the end of the meal (I'll get to that next), the waitress asked this question again. It didn't seem like the staff communicated well or took care to remember details such as these. My meal was served cold. It was a fresh catch, seared, but was completely cold to the touch. The rice was also ice cold. I asked for a plate warm up, the waitress said they would recook the dish, and I again just requested a heat up, knowing that they would likely cook it again. Again, my dish was cold. The rice was hot, and the vegetables (baby carrots from a bag, not a farm) were absent from the plate. The other two dishes served were merely status quo. Needless to say, we likely will not return, which is unfortunate because we so enjoyed our first two trips.

We asked the server to box the less than half-eaten meal and we did not receive it. Thought it had been boxed with another but it was not. No cocktails available. Pork was dry. Just was not as unique and special as in the past.

The setting was not a high end style restaurant as it is a small location in a strip mall with small tables. However, the food was delicious. To start my wife had the Soupe à L'oignon (French Onion) and I had the Lobster Seafood Bisque. Her French onion soup was perfect. I was disappointed with the Bisque I was served. It was extremely Salty. I believe it had been reducing way too long. Unfortunately, I had to send back. They remade a fresh batch and it was Devine. I do wish that they also would serve cocktails instead of just wine. The waitress was able to recommend a fabulous wine that match my taste and the meal, though. For the main meal, my wife had the Canard au Poivre (Seared Duck). She enjoyed this very much and loved the way it was prepared. I had the Filet de Bœuf au Bordelaise (Beef Tenderloin) extra rare- Superb. The waits between courses were a little long, but we were in no rush as we were celebrating our anniversary. They then prepared us a couple glasses of Champagne and a little desert for us to celebrate. I do wish that they also would serve cocktails instead of just wine. I would love to see this restaurant move to a facility that matched the caliber of food served. Great service and great food!

The overall rating is very accurate and the amount of money for two people with two single glasses of wine was astronomical. Inquired about the chef and he is Italian. The bread with butter served before the appetizers was of Italian influence with too much garlic and oil mixed in with butter. That was more like boursin cheese. Just a simple butter would have been great as a Frenchman. It would’ve been nice to have had a baguette with some pate and rillette. Possibly some oysters and the wine by the bottle was heavily priced, the foie gras was on a very hard hockey puck of bread. The duck entrée was very overcooked. The potatoes with the lamb was not a good match. The lamb was very good. The crème brûlée was very good. Because it was excellent even though I preferred a cappuccino.

The food here is truly exceptional and very worth going back again. It is premium - expect to spend $100 per person with wine, $75 without. Everything was excellent and cooked to perfection. The sear on the scallops was flawless and they remained tender, juicy and sweet. The beef filet was tender and well seasoned - some may think it a bit over-salted, but it tenderized the beef perfectly. Even the lobster served with the bisque (our soupe du jour) was still succulent and springy - literally nothing was overcooked. Special thanks to the chef - it was great to get a good meal in this area. Despite the drive, we'll be back for more.

Minimalist decor lacks charm for a French restaurant. Hard wood chairs. Appetizer and dessert excellent , fish special blah, duck very good. Service fine. Only wine available, no liquor. Overall pleasant but could really see more ambience for the price

From Magnifique to…Meh We used to love Saint Jacques but our last experience was very disappointing. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and were welcomed graciously by the manager when we arrived and asked if we were celebrating anything. Once seated, I asked our server - who was very nice - if one of our favorite servers was still there and was told no, he was gone and almost all the old staff. “They didn't like the new menu.” Not sure if she was joking about that, but that did jingle a slight warning bell. We asked for a cocktail menu and were told there is only wine and non-alcoholic beverages now. Oof, warning bell is ringing again. Ding ding. We ordered wine and Coquille Saint Jacques (scallops and crabs baked in béchamel and gruyère w/bread crumbs) and soup du jour (lobster bisque) for appetizers. My husband’s bisque was delivered without a spoon. My Coquille was meh and no scallops. We found shells in both dishes. Our mains arrived and things went downhill. My main was cold. My husband’s Filet de Boeuf au Bordelaise was rare, not medium rare as asked. The sauce was thin and sparse on the plate, the potatoes were so-so. My husband asked for a doggie bag to cook it more at home. We got the check and paid it and waited for our doggie bag but the bag never came, apparently forgotten. Other than one ’how is that’ from our server, nobody enquired about our experience, nor questioned why my husband hadn’t eaten his $50 steak. Why ask on reservation/time of seating if celebrating something if nothing comes of it? To me fine dining is about great food, great service, and special touches. You won't get that here like before! Very doubtful we will visit again.

For as long as I’ve been wanting to experience Saint Jacques, I was underwhelmed. It was a birthday surprise for a friend that was also girls night. The food was pretty and I expected a chair dance moment or a close my eyes and savor the taste moment but I had neither. I felt like I was going to need to stop and grab a burger when I left. My starter was the seafood bisque. It was luke warm but more cool than warm and a bit salty for my taste. My entree was the rack of lamb … not really what I expected. I expected the “crown” but received three chops. I hate to say this, but I’ve had better seasoned/tasting chops at a less expensive restaurant. Our server, Jules, was really friendly, engaging and helpful. We really liked her.

Wine we ordered, sold out, they offered a higher priced bottle at the same price as the one we ordered, nice touch. I ordered coquilles St-Jacques, still trying to find the bechamel sauce. The food was OK, bit nothing to write home about. if you know really good french food, do not go there. and yes, i forgot, we ordered onion soup, and they were out of it. Somehow you would think having the broth on hand at all times would be simple. They did remove my coquilles St-Jacques from the bill, thank you

This has always been a favorite of ours but we unfortunately went right after they just reopened after a complete change of the executive chef, pastry chef and kitchen staff. As a result, there was no cocktail bar, a very limited menu with 2 main things sold out, not the same wonderful bread sampler as in the past, no gelato, and no espresso or cappuccino, yet the prices were the same if not higher. What we did have was good but not the excellent experience we've had in the past. I hope this is a temporary adjustment and the restaurant will be back to full-service with excellent food and selections.
