My kids love Japanese cuisine and we went to Sakagura at lunchtime on a Saturday to celebrate end of school exams for one and birthday for the other. The booth we were sitting in was near the door and it was absolutely freezing every time someone was going in or out of the place....
The service was unhelpful and slow. No sign of explaining the difference between dishes nor to tell us if we were ordering too much or too little.
The sushi rolls were ok, nothing special.
The robata food was excellent but the hot stone became cold soon enough that we did not manage to cook all the food we ordered.... again, no suggestions, recommendations nor help from the waiters.
It took another half an hour before I started calling to get the dessert menu and eventually, after almost three hours, we managed to pay an astronomically high bill and leave....
Definitely won’t go back any time soon.

Slow to take drink orders, and glasses were empty for some time before additional drinks were offered. Nigiri was excellent but California roll was average. Overall, expensive for what it is.

Lived it! Amazing food and sitting in the booth was brilliant! We went for bottomless brunch and had to call the staff often to refill our glasses which was annoying but other than that the service was great and the staff were really well informed with what was in their food as well as being so wonderfully accommodating to my gluten intolerance:) I had the most brillaint time and so did my date! We loved the raindrop umeshu cake and the chilled saki glass boats on ice 😍😍😍 such a great day out, we stayed for hours!

We just went for an early lunch before a shopping trip. It was the perfect venue for this. We had excellent service and you can order almost as you go along. We chose some starters and in the end had had enough to eat so never got to try the sushi or sashimi. We had edamame, crispy chicken karagge, pork gyoza, beef teriyaki and duck teriyaki. It was all delicious.....I probably wouldn’t get the chicken again though as it was very filling and I wish I had left room for the sashimi! We had just one alcoholic drink each (glass of wine and a G & T) and the bill was £84....which I thought was OK for London. I would definitely go again for lunch. It is in a great location as well in Heddon Street.

It is overpriced. You can get the same quality of food in other restaurants. I wasn’t happy with the service with this high price paying.

We were lucky to get a table on New Year's eve. The food was really average, the yakitori was drenched instead of being glazed with the sauce. Even the fish carpaccio was overwhelmed with ponzu which was a real shame. The sashimi was reasonably fresh. I think if you stick to the self cook steak, it would be a safer bet as you are in control of the doneness and the seasoning. The highlight of the evening was the sake (very extensive menu) and the edamame beans, which were not overcooked. Service was impeccable, first hand witnessing manager dealing with the table next to ours with some seriously unbelievable complaints such as, "There is a bone in my fish."

The food was good but overpriced. We had 50% off through TimeOut, which made the bill more palatable but we wouldn’t come back and pay full price as the dishes simply aren’t worth it. The sushi omakase was probably the best out of everything we ordered. The signature yakitori platter and squid karaage were both distinctly average. The Chilean wagyu was tasty but again not worth the cost. We’d recommend coming here if you want the novelty of cooking your own food on a Japanese BBQ or hot stones; otherwise, you’re better off spending your money elsewhere!

We ordered Japanese Wagyu steak, which was succulent and its flavour was lovely. Sake-infused matcha tiramisu was a five star! It wasn't sweet at all, which is what I love! Not for sweet tooth, obviously! I think we can get beef steaks at the same level somewhere else, but NOT matcha tiramisu. Overall, it was a good visit.

Horrible meal, we were initially greeted by the server saying it’s fully booked despite free seats clearly available. Then I showed her we could book a table that will technically be ready in 20 min. So she gave in and let us sit by the bar. The bar seats were so badly managed, people didn’t care to move their bags or anything so we were standing at the end of the bar, even though there were free seating in between couples. The one star on service was the server who came up to us to let us know there was a cancellation and we can be seated earlier. The service overall was slow, we were trying to get their attention and no one would come to the table, so in order to get their attention, don’t be shy to raise your hand high.

As for the food, I would recommend the yakitori stick’n’mix. That was alright, but the Tsukune was too dry, so I would steer clear. The broccoli came before the sashimi which I found very weird. And the rice came before the main. For our main, we ordered the Chilean Wagyu and were horribly disappointed for the meat wasted. The steak was dry and lacked seasoning. On top of that, it was meant to be medium rare and it came to the table medium well. For the price I was paying, I’d expect my food not to come dry.

As for the ambience, it was smoky and definitely needs a better ventilation system but it’s understandable to walk out smelling like your food when you’re cooking it on your table - that’s not something you could really change.

To charge someone 75GBP for a wagyu steak that comes out chewy and barely edible is a sin. The waitress was awkward and I wasn't sure she understood my english very well. The uni was sloppy and looked gross and badly shucked as if the person who shucked it had no experience. I took my in-laws here and I was so disappointed . We will not be back .

Rally nothing special except prices which are exorbitant. The service is very poor: slow, lost, tired and somehow saggy. It lost its Japanese flair which had years ago. Highly unrecommended.

We went for the bottomless brunch. Food was nice, starters box lovely. Salmon and beef teriyaki much superior to other choices.

Service was really slow and inattentive. Especially topping up our glasses. Food also very slow... but they were prompt in stopping the bottomless wine service and kicking us off table.
