This restaurant never fails and the service is great. As you enter there’s a lovely bar area to enjoy a drink while waiting for your table or friends to arrive.

Amazing food but unfortunately once we got given the food we were left and forgotten about . Had to ask for the drink menu several times. Could upsell a lot more in that way

Excellent service on a very busy night
We had a few fussy eaters and it was no trouble to make changes to the set menu.

Overall good food and atmosphere but the service element was somewhat lacking. Regarding the service - the wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable but the service approach is somewhat disjointed- one person takes your order, another brings your order and then one two other people stop by in the interim - very confusing approach. Also, when we checked in the hostess did not have a reservation and when we told her it was through OpenTable, she replied OpenTable doesn't always work at Sake - that was a first. Other than the unusual service approach, would recommend the restaurant- solid, modern Japanese cuisine in The Rocks area of Sydney.

1) The restaurant lost my Open Table reservation.
2) We chose two sets of 5-course chef special at AU$75 each. The food was the worst I ever had in restaurants booked via Open Table.
3) Servers were unable to tell the ingredients used in the dishes provided.
4) Fish tempura was served as appetizer. Small bones were unable to be fully removed by the chef. When asked, the manager said it was normal to have bones.
5) steak was served as the main course but meat texture was below average, although the taste was not too bad.
6) the private collection of sake was overrated.

To conclude, go for something more authentic if you want to try good Japanese food.

We chose to sit at the bar so that we could watch the chefs at work. This was the best form of food theatre, with precision knife skills on display!! We had great help with selecting the dishes from the menu and the food was superb. Excellent staff capped a perfect night for us. Not cheap but well worth the money.

We ordered from the a la carte menu, including the eel and salmon sushi rolls, nori crisps, toothfish, pork belly and the dragon’s egg. Had high expectations given the price point of the menu ($20-30 per dish). However the food was ordinary/average and tastes similar to what we could otherwise have gotten at many other restaurants for a much lower price. The ingredients I could taste were fresh though, pity they were not enhanced to the level of sophistication implied by the price point. Service was great, and the servers were accommodating to our requests and often came by to ask how is the food and provided recommendations. Overall disappointing as the food did not live up to expectations.

We did not stay to eat in Sake
After being shown to our table we decided to leave before ordering.
The table was tiny, the room was crowded and noisy with loud bass music that would make it difficult to talk.
Not what we expect from an up market Japanese restaurant.

I came in on Friday with a couple of friends to celebrate my birthday. Amazing! Simply amazing!! The atmosphere, the service, the food! All fantastic. From the moment we walked in and were spoken to by a very polite lady at the front desk, to the finalising of our bill. Our waiter was very attentive, polite and easy going, and knew the menu well! The food waiters were also fantastic! The floor manager was on point, and very approachable. Also friendly and very professional!
The food was simply exquisite. I cannot describe how much I enjoyed my experience! Definitely will be returning.

Clearly a hot spot for millennials with a very extensive Japanese menu where sushi and specialty rolls are not the real stars. Great for peopfile watching, creative assemblies of fish, vegetables and sauces. One desert in particular outstanding. The egg.

Food ok, nothing spectacular. Very noisy, loud music and people (the trendiest the noisiest apparently...). Very haughty people at the door, offering us a table at the bar even though we had booked 2 wks in advance...not professional service at all. Looking good is the requirement for working there. In the end the waitress was nice and very accommodating (food intolerance). Ok in general but don't go there if you want good service, privacy and to have a normal conversation with your date/friends. Good place to be seen!

This is a great restaurant. We were celebrating a special occasion and we were pleased with ouchoice. it is easy to understand that they have maintained their 1 hat rating over the years. It is a little noisy but that just adds to the fun atmosphere. The service was exceptional. Our lovely waitress Catarina was very helpful explaining various different dishes on the menu and recommending sake to suit.
We opted for the tasting menu and each dish was superb. We added the much talked about dragon egg for dessert and were not disappointed - it was delicious - creamy and incredibly rich with a surprise in each mouthful. Although I have to admit not being able to finish it ... next time it will be a share job...... will definitely return

Missing the old menu which felt more authentic and Japanese inspired.
Menu is classical in nature with lots of seafood options to which I dont eat.

Produce is very fresh and the Dragon egg added the much needed excitement to the meal.

Sake used to be a favourite but I am not sure we will return anytime soon.
