A modern oyster bar focusing on Southern cuisine, highlighting fresh seafood and seasonal vegetables to share. Saltine, named as a nod to the plain cracker often served with seafood, pays homage to Jackson's rich history with oysters and seafood. Oysters are sourced from the Gulf of Mexico, east and west coasts and Canada and served raw, smoked, wood-fired and fried. Saltine also offers an extensive beer list with over 30 taps of craft beer, as well as a wide selection of rum and several signature cocktails. Lunch and dinner are offered daily with a brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Plus, happy hour specials daily from 4-6pm!

This was my husband and I’s first time there. It was great! 10/10. Food was delicious. Drinks were great. Our server was great. We will definitely be back.

So today I took my family out to dinner. We had a reservation at 8 pm. The food and the waiter were excellent. The bartender on the other hand was extremely rude. My father ordered a margarita. On the menu it states it comes with a salt rim. Any person that has had a margarita knows that a margarita comes with a salt rim. Not according to this bartender. I addressed this w the waiter. He said he would take care of it. The next minute the bartender came storming to the table to demand the drink back. I told her, never in my life have I ever had a person ask for the drink back to just put a salt rim. If the menu states a salt rim, I should expect a salt rim. This drink was for my father, and she wanted him to return the drink and then she would make a new one. If that is not the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, I do not know what to say. I knew she was going to dump it out anyway. She stated she had a long day, that is no excuse. As if I didnt have a long day and wanted to spend time with my family. To come storming to the table and asking for the drink back, instead of apologizing for the mistake or compromising by bringing a small plate w salt with it, was ridiculous. Idk what happened today and all is forgiven because the waiter apologized on her behalf. I think management should look to a new bartender. She talked to me as if I was stupid and had an attitude with the waiter and the entire table. There was a reason why I had 3 stars before but it now goes down to one star. I will make sure to tell everyone I know in the Jackson area, that this place isnt it. Not anymore. Waiter was 10/10 and deserves better. Food was excellent. It was weird that the fried green tomatoes came dueing the main course when jt was time for the main course but it was nice that it was made fresh and tasted excellent.

Food was wonderful as always. We were a table for 8 in a hallway by the kitchen. A bit noisy, lots of foot traffic, not an ideal place to be seated for dinner.

A delicious lunch in a historic school. The seafood is incredible. We had the calamari, gumbo and fish tacos all of which were tasty.

I have always loved eating here. The food is delicious & they have a wonderful variety of selections. My favorites are the fried green tomatoes, any poboy, oysters lafitte, and don't leave without having the banoffee pie. Having said that the service we received was not good. Our waiter brought water to the table & promptly disappeared for about 15 minutes. I actually stopped another waiter & told him what was happening to see if he could help. I told him we were about to walk out. Shortly after that our waiter reappeared & said he had been in the basement getting supplies. I'm not sure if this was true or not but no one apologized or attempted to correct the situation. This was a birthday lunch for my husband & it was not the experience I expected.
