Serving signature pastas made in-house daily, paired with the highest quality, locally-sourced ingredients along with fresh local seafood. Scarpetta’s famous Spaghetti Tomato & Basil is nothing short of classic simplicity in both taste and preparation. The understated-yet-elegant approach to design creates an environment that is simultaneously stylish, welcoming, and inspiring, where guests can feel as though they are at a decadent dinner party.
In addition to the 3-star review in the NY Times, in 2008, Scarpetta received a James Beard nomination for ‘Best New Restaurant in America.’ In 2015, the restaurant was named ‘Best New Restaurant in the Hamptons’ at sister property Gurney's Montauk by Newsday.
Difficult to find bc inside hotel with little signage
outside seating looks great, we were given inside and a corner table where we directly faced another couple, totally awkward & we could hear every word of each other's conversation. Horrid "outward from corner banquette" vs across from each other seating plan. Octopus rubber an covered in fat not charred enough. Learn from Stoneacre how to make octopus. Kale Salad was primarily arugula. Flavorless. not offensive, just no punch to the vinaigrette.
Extremely loud. We were screaming across the table to have conversation with our friends.
great wine list. pricy with small portions. Service was very good
The service was great but our server had no personality. The food was delicious but tiny portions. The inside bar serves your cocktails in plastic which is really tacky.
The outside decking is fabulous and great for evening cocktails.
If I can give Scarpetta 6 stars I would!
Celebrated our 1st anniversary at the restaurant and everything was perfect from start to finish.
Exceptional service and flexibility on orders.
Very nice view with fantastic ambiance.
Our waitress was very friendly and was able to accommodate every request.
They even gave us a special dessert for our anniversary celebration!
Left a big tip for such an awesome restaurant.
Wow. I’ve got over 32,000 Open Table points so eating out and fine dining is the norm for us. Not my first time at 3 different Scarpettas. But this time beat all. Inexperienced wait staff brought meals and appetizers at same time. They were completely clueless in handling situation. Two meals were left on table and 4 returned to kitchen and were thrown out. After 30 minutes and much ado the kitchen had to cook our meals again.. another 30 minutes. Two of our guests ate again!!! Waiter never apologized but manager offered free desserts!! We left... as they were closing the Resturant!!! Three hours for a bowl of pasta!!!! Enjoyed a foggy evening over Newport though!!!!
Can’t wait to go again
Enjoy a drink on the deck by the fire pit before or after dinner. Food was excellent. Waitress was great and very accommodating. Made us feel welcome and added to our anniversary celebration.
One of the very best dining experiences I have ever had. From ambience, to service, to quality of food...truly a fantastic restaurant!
We went for my husbands birthday, had a great seat outside. Service was excellent, great food. It’s a little pricey but worth it.
Took my Father and aunt here for Fathers Day. Excellent service, food and views. Our waiter Eric was friendly and the other servers were excellent in assisting as well. They’re pasta was far from simple and very tasty. I loved my bass and they have a good variety on the menu. Thank you for a pleasant experience.
Location is great but food and service is not good. Fish over cooked (even after sending it back and receiving a new plate) and service extremely slow. Do not recommend for dinner. Great for drinks / cocktails.
Father’s Day dinner
Love this place! My sister and I are huge fans of Scarpetta. Being from philly and manhattan, we frequent the Scarpettas in each of our towns, and as an up and coming newer restaurant in Newport, their food and service compares to their already established sister restaurants.
Our server, Gabriel, was amazing. And the floor manager, Amos, was also a delight.
This place will be one of Newport’s worst kept secrets, because it’s that good. If you go, do yourself a favor and order the yellowtail, the creamy truffle polenta and the spaghetti. You are welcome.
Excellent service and very good food, but didn’t get much quantity for the price. Skimpy servings.
Our first time visit to Scarpetta's will not be our last.
Unfortunately we sat down 45 mins after our reservation was and the service was not the best.
Restaurant is party of a very busy hotel, and that was not clear to me when booking the reservation. Music was VERY loud inside, so we opted to sit outside on a chilly night. It was still too loud, but much more tolerable.
That said, this is not the place for anyone with dietary restrictions. Waitress was unwilling to even ASK the chef to make any type of modification to main dishes which all included a gluten containing grain. So, I ended up just getting a piece of fish on a plate (couldn't eat the two sides it was supposed to come with, and they would not substitute a vegetable.) That said, the piece of fish was well-prepared. And the service was friendly and prompt enough.
In summary, it was an overpriced and largely disappointing dinner. But I did my best to just enjoy the fabulous company (my date) and the pretty view of the water.
Amazing food and presentation! Recommended our friends to try it the next day. The fresh hand made pastas were to die for. Really great dining
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Scarpetta. They make their pasta fresh daily and it is delicious. The Halibut was also expertly prepared. We would definitely recommend and we will return next time we are in Newport.
Excellent service - so attentive. Made our daughter’s graduation celebration very special. Food was excellent. Didn’t love the lobster pasta dish, but veal, charred Octopus, sirloin and fish were above and beyond.
The overall experience was fine/fair but the restaurant leaves much to be desired
I’ve never had a bad experience at Scarpetta. The service was fantastic as well.
The food is NYC quality. The room is quite dark but pleasant. Very accommodating service. Beware of nearby tables with loud girls who drink too much and are oblivious to where they are. It is a hotel restaurant here so it’s not like being in NYC.
Overpriced. Charred octopus was not charred at all. Ravioli was so salty it was inedible and we sent it back. Even the halibut was over salted and came with a weird white sauce that made the plate look anemic.
We like Scarpetta. The food is very good and the service is better than most. You can enjoy regional fare and delicious pasta dishes. Wine list is accomodating but limited. It is in a resort hotel in a resort town and as such there is usually a bit too much background noise. If you can pick less busy times it is well worth the trip.
An amazing dining experience. The service was exceptional and the food was even better. Obviously you get what you pay for. So if you’re adverse to spending money to experience 5-star cuisine and exemplary service this might not be the place for you. But you will absolutely get your monies worth at Scarpaletta’s in Newport. Exceptional in every sense.
We’ve eaten at some of the best Italian restaurants in Europe and I just had the best pasta dish I have ever eaten this past weekend at Scarpetta’s. Homemade cavatelli with rabbit in a delicious brown portabello mushroom sauce. OMG.
The ambiance and views are wonderful (Goat Island, Newport). The service is as you would expect it to be with a restaurant of this quality and reputation and the food was consistently amazing and cooked exactly to order. A definite must for those with a discerning pallet or, like us, just plain folk who occasionally go to a five-star restaurant to treat ourselves. Cannot wait to go back. Highly recommend. Five stars.
Wine list prices are outrageous. Food is just ok, someqhatvoricey. Dining room is quite noisy, service was very good.
Food and service was 5 star! The restaurant has a modern style, the food is beautifully presented. Loved the decks. Sunset is stunning over the water from the back deck.
Loved it! Delicious as always and Debra Lee and Helen were amazing!
The food was delicious but our server was not only new to the restaurant, she was truly inexperienced. It detracted from the experience because there were many awkward moments and interruptions at the table. IMHO, an upscale restaurant should hire already well trained, seasoned staff. I will come back, but if it happens again, there won’t be a 3rd visit. Hopefully it was just a one-off, and we can try dining al fresco this summer!
Friday night in April, not very busy...food was better than expected after hearing from many people that the food wasn’t great....service was good, ambiance was beautiful, very comfortable seating...would come back again!
Tried to eat here but they are closed Monday and Tuesdays although we were still able to make a reservation. We drove all the way there & parked car only to find out they were closed. Disappointed.
Second time I dined at Scarpetta, it is very good but ....... "missing" something in the ambiance. Expected a little more value for the $$ spent.
Exceptional food, the atmosphere and the service were incredible.
We were celebrating our engagement that night and the entire staff could not have been more accommodating and so good to us! They sent over a congratulatory dessert and our whole experience there was perfect for a night to remember!
Amazing meal. Top notch quality. Exemplary service. Very knowledgeable server. Perfect ambiance. Great upscale date night!
Very attentive service and amazing food. We will be back.
Our server Gabriel was very attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. Great food and a really nice location. Thanks for a great dinner!
