Serving signature pastas made in-house daily, paired with the highest quality, locally-sourced ingredients along with fresh local seafood. Scarpetta’s famous Spaghetti Tomato & Basil is nothing short of classic simplicity in both taste and preparation. The understated-yet-elegant approach to design creates an environment that is simultaneously stylish, welcoming, and inspiring, where guests can feel as though they are at a decadent dinner party.
In addition to the 3-star review in the NY Times, in 2008, Scarpetta received a James Beard nomination for ‘Best New Restaurant in America.’ In 2015, the restaurant was named ‘Best New Restaurant in the Hamptons’ at sister property Gurney's Montauk by Newsday.
Outstanding all around. Terrific food and great service. Overlooking the water. It couldn’t get any better!
Unbelievable spaghetti, perfectly cooked sirloin, and wonderful service. Couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable experience.
My feedback is that the food was fantastic but the ambiance was not. The music was way too loud and distracted from the delicious food. We ate inside this time as too cold for outside. I would only return in the summer to eat outside where the music is not deafening. Would not recommend eating inside to anyone.
Sat us an hour after our reservation but once we got going the food and drinks were great
If you like Olive Garden at 5x the price, this is the perfect place. The food was average/below average but priced as if it were offered in a very upscale venue. Very loud and no ambience to speak of. The wine, a 4 oz. pour was priced at $17. The service was very spotty. Will never return.
Noisy, bad lighting (could not read the menu), staff hovering
Outstanding food and service, would definitely return
Special location for outside dining in Newport. Delicious food!
All great except for the blond hostess. Needs major attitude adjustment although manager made up for it with much better hospitality and demeanor.
Oh I had such high expectation about this place, especially seeing all the glowing reviews on Yelp. But our experience went downhill when the host did not honor our reservation request to sit outdoor. This would have been okay except she told us we could get an outdoor table if we wait for 30 mins (meanwhile, our indoor table was another 15 mins wait past our reservation time).
So we decided to grab drinks by the outdoor bar (btw, drinks here were really good - try the Il Bandito). In about 35 mins, I received a text that my table for 6 was ready so I went back to the host (a different one) asking if we were seated outside, and she gave me a quick glance and responded hastily "We do not have any outdoor seating available for the night!" This was not the customer service that I expected from a restaurant like Scrapetta. On my way back the outdoor bar, I bumped into the host that I spoke to when I checked-in earlier to ask why we waited 30 mins for a table inside. She then looked at me and said "oh, did you want an outdoor table, let me speak to the host!" WTF??! Is this place being ran like a circus? We made it clear that we will wait for an outdoor seating as it was for my husband's birthday. And if we were just getting an indoor table, why did it take 30+ mins???
After few back and forth between the staffs, we got a table outdoor...miraculously. But this whole encounter left a bad taste in my mouth. While the food was decent and the drinks were good, I would not be returning this place when I visit Newport next time.
The staff was so untrained that the entire meal - arrival to finish - felt cheap.
The food was awful - food I have eaten in other Scott Conant restaurants. It was robbery. A terrible experience. W were shocked.
We booked looking for a romantic date night dinner with my husband.
Server was very good, but took 30 minutes to seat us, than we we were seated even though we asked for a romantic setting we were seated right above and behind the outside bar. “NOT ROMANTIC “ (Ps. We notice that straight couples had better seating, inside and outside the restaurant)

We were excited to try this restaurant, but very disappointed throughout. The hostess who sat us was dismissive and answered our questions with blanket statements and without fully listening to our questions. The food was wonderful, but we were rushed through each course with waitstaff constantly placing hands on unfinished dishes that were still being eaten out of. Overall there was little interest in and awareness of the customer. It felt very amateur. We’ve spent less money and have had better experiences elsewhere. I give it 3 stars, solely on the location (decor, patio, waterfront, etc.) and the quality of the food. But in Newport, you can get that anywhere.
Food was outstanding. Beet Salad was fresh and delicious. Lobster tagliatelle was very flavorful. Waitstaff was attentive however only complaint was that we felt very rushed. Barely set fork down and plate was removed. Isn’t a restaurant to enjoy that cocktail or glass of wine before your food arrives. Very rushed. They seem to want to turn tables quickly.
the food was ok but not for the price. the portions are very, very tiny which forces you to purchase more dishes to make a meal.
Great food as always and loved the beautiful set up outside. Hostess was very accommodating to us with wanting to sit outside. However, food wait was long but the waiter acknowledged the problem and compensated for it with drinks and dessert.
We enjoyed our waiter and the food was delicious. Desert was delightful.
The bad reviews I read about the waitstaff were not accurate. They were polite and attentively on top of us from start to finish. Portions were avg taste of the food was ok. I wasnt blown away w the menu everything was good but not great. Very nice place to go for a special occaaion.
Scarpetta was an unbelievable experience. We sat outside and overlooked the water. The polenta was amazing. We loved everything about our meals, the drinks. We have not one negative thing to say! What an awesome addition to the Newport restaurant scene!
My appetizer showed up with my entree which in a restaurant this expensive should never happen. It cost $19 for one grilled octopus tentacle. The lobster tagliatelle had a miniscule amount of lobster. The house pinot grigio was nasty. Ambiance was romantic. Had been it the Nyc Scarpetta multiple times years ago, this was not the same experience.
Renovation of hotel is great.
Food is ok
Waiter or bartender had no idea what a peach cosmopolitan is
I think he made a lemon something
Eat on labby deck
More affordable and nicer view
We have had great times dinning inside and out. The food and service is top notch, Only wish they would have a different fish special weekly since the hotel in on the ocean ( ie. Tuna, Sword fish, Mahi ). Our goto restaurant since the Revolving Door closed.
Not many vegetarian options, don't sit near trees-tons of mosquitos.
Wonderful dinner all around. Service, food and atmosphere were all outstanding
The service was terrible. We kept trying to get our servers attention for a refill on water. We went the entire meal without a refill. The food was presented well and tasted good, however it was very over priced for what we received. Being in New England, I ordered a lobster pasta. The flavor was good, however I received 6 tiny lobster (and when I say tiny) they were no bigger than dime sized. There was nothing else to the dish. It was $32. I was paying for the "lobster" and there were barely any in the dish. If anything go for drinks. The atmosphere was lovely right on the water with sting lights and a pretty bar.
This was our second visit to Scarpetta. The location is ideal, amazing view of the water, GREAT food- LOVED the scallops- pasta all homemade and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the kitchen was overwhelmed by a few large parties, which made for a long wait for our main courses. During that time, our waiter did not check on us to see if we would like more beverages or let us know what the delay was. Will definitely go back, but probably not on a weekend evening.
Great Food, Great View, Great Service. What else could you ask for?
Food was fantastic and beautiful night to sit outside
I’ve been to Scarpetta in Miami and NYC, both were good but my experience at the Newport location exceeded the other two locations !
First the sommelier was amazing. His knowledge and energy was top notch and helped me pick the right bottle of wine.
Our waitress was great also and friendly.
She added to our experience
The location outside was just perfect and the food was great as usual
I especially loved the scallop appetizer
Thank you for a great experience
The food was just fabulous, and we sat outside by the water on a lovely deck. However, we were sorely disappointed in the service. The staff was friendly enough, but the service was extremely slow. We were the third party seated on a Saturday night when the restaurant first opened at 6:30. But as the other people who were seated at the same time as us were already eating their entrees, we were still waiting for our salads. At one point, one salad was brought to our table, quickly taken away with an apology that it was actually for another table, then brought right back. We had no idea what that was all about. After the salad, we waited a very long time for the rest of our meal. Someone came over to apologize for the long wait, but when our entrees finally arrived, all we wanted was to leave. We were hoping that they would compensate us in some way, but they didn’t. Because the service was so bad, we won’t be back. Very disappointed.
Prentious staff who did not listen to us and tried to up sell everything. Don’t treat us differently if we don’t buy what you suggest. Our waiter was rude at times.
With the exception of our waiter not quite understanding the nuances of our drink order, Scarpetta Newport carries on the strong reputation of its counterparts. I've frequented their Miami restaurant on numerous occasions and the Newport location does an admirable job of matching the quality Scott Conant has set for his diners elsewhere.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Scarpetta. The only think I wish they had to offer was a children’s menu. Given that it is in Newport we were there on a family vacation and prefer a children’s menu offering.
We had great expectations about this restaurant in our trip to Newport RI. The service is great and the view excellent, the problem is the food. We ordered four different dishes, three of them the most popular from the restaurant and we were disappointed. The chargrilled octopus was good but the main dishes average or bad. My wife's pasta (mushroom and goat cheese) over cooked, simple and tasteless. I ordered the black tagliolini and it looked good but nothing extraordinary, for that price you can have a whole meal anywhere else. My daughter ordered the lobster pasta and it was tasteless.
Too expensive for the quality of the food.
A tough night since raining and lobby jammed on Saturday night. Seated about 30 min past our reservation but was ok. Nice table with great group of friends. Totally ruined by noise level and large group of loud and obnoxious table nearby. Staff was very aware of group and apologized but they kept ordering drinks so no luck moving them along. One couple seated nearby got up and left in 30 seconds after being seated. Service was great and not her fault. Food was ok but not for price level. Two people had halibut which was small and very dry. Food has been better in past. Just not a great dining experience with great friends visiting for reunion weekend. Too bad as several New Yorkers who had not eaten at Scarpetta NYC and were anxious to try it.
Charge you for everything and don't want any requests - even sweetener for ice tea. Only asked for a bread basket with the plain rolls and was told this would be difficult and then no bread. Food was okay but for the prices need to upgrade the service and the food!
It was amazing, the food, the service, extensive wine list. Fabulous! Very nice wine list. Definitely return!
After dining I received an email saying that my reservation didn't qualify for the 100 points. Experience was okay but most likely would have picked a similar restaurant that awarded the promised points.
Some of the best service we’ve ever experienced. Welcoming to our family of grandparents, parents, and 2 children. Gorgeous view and ambience outside. Overall excellent experience and looking forward to returning.
We celebrated our anniversary here and it was a great experience. Everything we had was delicious and the service was great! We sat outside on the deck with a scenic view of Newport Harbor. The evening was a nice one and the patio was shaded by the hotel from the evening sun. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. It was a really nice place for a date or special occasion where everyone was dressed nicely (vs t-shirts and flip-flops) and not so many kids.
