Pizza was soggy, grilled cheese was made with American not the Irish cheddar mentioned in the menu, Brussels sprouts seemed microwaved and slimy and the $16 watermelon drink was watery. Went for the novelty as we love the original Sean’s in Athlone, but the experience was a disappointment. The space looks cool, but that was about it. No servers checked on us once we ordered, had to find someone and flag them done to order a drink or ask about food issues.

Service was great but our meals were terrible. First time we have ever had gross fish and chips at an Irish bar.

The atmosphere was really chill and like an Irish Bar/Restaurant should be. I had Calamari and Shepherds Pie and they both were amazing.

We took our family of 12 to lunch prior to a show. The location of Sean’s Bar is unbeatable. Our table was near the window, and the food choices catered to all ages in our party. The drink choices are spot on as well. Our waitress was friendly and food came out quickly. I highly recommend Sean’s Bar!

FAQs

Yes, Sean’s Bar & Kitchen works well for a casual, lively date night. Guests praise the friendly service, well-prepared dishes (like steak, fish & chips, and burgers) and the warm Irish-pub atmosphere close to Rockefeller Center, making it a convenient pre- or post-show spot. Expect a pub vibe with TVs and upbeat noise; for a quieter experience ask for an early seating or a table away from the bar.

Family-friendly seating is available, guests regularly bring children and large groups (one party of 12 was well accommodated) and families celebrate holidays here. The space reads as a casual Irish pub with bar and dining areas; specific accessible seating (wheelchair ramps, accessible restrooms) isn’t mentioned in guest comments, so call ahead if you need accessibility accommodations.

The ambience is a lively, authentic Irish-pub vibe, warm, welcoming and often bustling. Guests note friendly staff, good drinks (Guinness, Kilkenny, house lager), TVs showing sports, and upbeat chatter. It can get loud during busy nights, which many guests expect and enjoy; if you prefer quiet, ask for an early seating or a table away from the bar.

Portions are generally generous, with many guests calling the food "plentiful" or "perfectly prepared." Several guests noted large, satisfying plates (fish & chips, burgers, pot pie), though a few mentioned smaller-than-expected portions on occasion. If portion size is important, ask your server about entree sizing or consider sharing an appetizer and a main.

For a calmer visit, aim for late-morning or early-lunch (some guests found 11:00 AM quiet) or weekday midday. If you want the lively pub energy, good for watching sports or a pre-show buzz, go evenings, weekends, or right before performances at nearby theaters. Reservations are recommended for busy evenings.

Casual dress, guests routinely come in comfortable, casual attire suitable for theater outings, pre-show dinners, or late-night drinks. The restaurant lists its dress code as Casual Dress.

Yes, families often dine here and guests report bringing children and teens for meals and celebrations. While there’s no mention of a dedicated kids’ menu, the menu offers familiar pub-style dishes that appeal to a range of ages. For families, earlier seating or a less-busy time is recommended.

There’s no explicit mention of a formal waiting list, but guests report busy nights and recommend reservations. The staff appear experienced at managing crowds, moving tables and accommodating large parties, so if you expect peak times, make a reservation or call ahead to check wait times.

Yes, staff are described as accommodating (kitchen honored health-conscious requests and servers helped large parties). For dietary needs, seating preferences, or timing (pre-show), call ahead so the team can accommodate you and note any special requests on your reservation.

Midweek or late-morning weekdays are best for a quieter meal; if you want atmosphere, go on a weekend or the evening before a show. Guests often choose weekdays for calmer visits and weekends for the full pub energy, pick what you prefer and reserve for busy nights.

Yes, guests have celebrated holidays here (including Thanksgiving), so the restaurant does operate on at least some public holidays. If you plan a holiday meal, call ahead or book in advance since holiday service can be very busy.
