   We loved Shaya. Our waitress, Kimberly, was wonderful. Two small quibbles. First, our chicken course did not have the two pieces mentioned on the menu. This was immediately remedies when I brought it to our server’s attention. Second, the AC was super cold, not sure why. The food was great, especially the mushroom hummus and the pita bread. I highly reconnect Shaya.

   My biggest complaint is that I leave so full that I toddle out. Everything is delicious. Like, so delicious. We had the fried chicken hummus. I could eat that every day of my life. It’s so good. Then we had the Israeli salad and then salmon. Since it was lunch-ish, we split the dish and it was plenty (especially since they are generous with the pitas). It’s a top-notch place for lunch or dinner.

   The food at Shaya was amazing! We still can’t stop thinking about the fried chicken hummus. The only downside to our experience was the service. We waited quite some time just to be greeted or get drinks because our waitress was too busy (despite it not being a very busy time). She seemed overwhelmed with just a few tables. Everything else was great and food came out pretty fast once we finally got a chance to order. We definitely plan on going back.

   The food was excellent. We had baba ganoush, kale tabbouli, rehab, pickles and hummus. Everything was served in a timely manner. Unfortunately, our waitperson had a poor attitude. Great food was only dampened by one person’s bad attitude. Hope that next visit lands a better server

    What a great experience! The food was delicious, so flavorful! Kale salad was so good that even though my husband hates kale, he took one bite and then proceeded to gobble down at least half of it. The babba ganoush was also so good. The shrimp large entree was not stellar. But the chicken leg & thigh was the best, must order!! Sadly, we stuffed our faces so there was no room for dessert. Hopefully next time we can try them. We were so happy for our wonderful meal. You will not be disappointed. Service was steller also! We loved it!!!

    We had a lovely early dinner for my wife's birthday, just the two of us on the patio in the back. Very relaxing. The staff at Shaya is always friendly and accommodating, and their food always fresh and delicious. It's definitely one of our favorites in New Orleans. Everyone (but vegans/vegetarians, I guess) should try the fried chicken hummus with Shaya's fresh-baked pita. *chef's kiss*

    We sat outside on the patio, so the noise level was quite low, which was nice. We've eaten at Shaya many times, and the food is always very very good. Excellent in fact. Alon Shaya is an excellent chef, and keeps the quality of his food high at all his restaurants (we enjoyed Miss River as well). The fresh pita bread, as everyone comments, is amazing. And it just keeps coming. The hummus is unimaginably smooth and silky and, well, everything is just delicious. Unfortunately, our waiter was very lackluster. He didn't seem to want to be there. He barely cracked a smile, and communicated with us as little as possible. His response to everything was "awesome", although it didn't seem like he was feeling very "awesome" that evening. It didn't spoil a wonderful dinner, but it certainly didn't add anything to it either.

    The only reason I give service 4 stars is that I felt they were rushing us out. Once our waiter brought our drinks over and took our order it felt like the food was flying out of the kitchen. We barely had time to sip on our cocktails when our appetizers arrived. We tried to eat these very slowly, but that can be hard with small plates. Once we finished the appetizers, I went to the ladies room and when I returned the main course was already on the table. My husband said they brought it as soon as I left. We were in and out in under an hour. I will say that the food was fantastic and the bread is a show stopper. I would go back again but maybe for a more leisurely lunch.

    We had seen a good number of reviews praising this restaurant, and it was a perfect fit for a beautiful early Monday lunch. We had 3 appetizers, the Fatoush Salad - a marvelous combination of multiple vegetables and market greens, wonderfully warm pita bread and a 2 scoop dessert of Chocolate Almond and Orange Blossom ice cream. The tastes were engaging, bright and light; the mood, friendly and the weather outside on the patio was beautiful. A surprisingly great meal, and relatively inespensive. $42 for 2 people at lunch: a great bargain with incredibly good, well-sourced vegetables. Check it out!! Well worth the detour.

    We had such a wonderful lunch here! I don’t remember our waiter’s name. He really made the meal. This was our first time in so he helped us navigate the menu. We told him we wanted to enjoy a long slow lunch. He made sure that happened. The flavors of the dishes were really wonderful!

    We have been hoping to dine at Shaya since our son arrived two years ago at Tulane University. Everything about this experience tells us that we'll be back again...and again.     Loved all of it! Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance and arrived on time and were seated right away. Ordered drinks and the fried chicken hummus, it was phenomenal. The chicken was perfectly cooked with a delightful date salsa verde and creamy hummus, the fresh pita and oil were delicious as well. Also ordered the lamb kebab, came out and had an excellent flavor with a hint of grilled flavor which really complemented the lamb. Then we split two large plates the shrimp kebab and the hanger steak. The steak was a little cool but the flavor drowned out the coolness it was so good. The shrimp kebab took second, I love shrimp but I probably won’t be getting these again. They were slightly overcooked and definitely hotter than the steak but compared to all the other flavors kind of missed the mark. Overall amazing!
