Shelbourne Social by Dylan McGrath
Lovely way to spend valentines with my wife and new born daughter and some wagu burgers 🤑
Very attentive service, delicious food for each course, good selection of wines by the glass and they were completely accommodating of our 7 month old daughter.
Great spot. Loads of room between tables so your not listetening to others conversation and vice a versa
Lunch with my daughter during her lunch break. Had planned a quick one course via the menu on the web but we were presented with a two or three corse menu. Ordered cucumber & avocado (very good) & chicken wings (excellent), followed by prawn noodles for both of us - absolutely gorgeous (only issue was that it went cold quickly - despite being in a hot pan... maybe heat plates too?). Service very professional but a bit slower than we would have liked (would plan a longer lunch break next time). Quality really very good but still thought it was expensive for €30 per head. Would go back with group for a late lunch or dinner.
The hot curd bread with hen eggs, artichoke and trout roe was incredible! So was the scallops. The menu was a bit confusing but the staff was great and ready to help! The food was interesting and delicious. The cocktails were also amazing! The place was too bright and not cozy for a romantic dinner, but it is just their first weeks. They will figure that out.
Would love mushroom dish at lunch. Also where is the soup for lunch?!
I really enjoyed shelbourne social. The food and service was excellent
Great service , good food,nice decor/ambiance 👍👍
The regular menu looked good but which is why we booked
unfortunately this was not offered to us because of the Rugby and the volumn of people the restaurant had to serve on Saturday
a set menu was offered and were not informed of this upon booking
we would not have opted for this if we had know
starters were poor bread and hummos with honey
main course really good but the waiter informed us that lots more veg would come with the fish but this was not served only green beans and mushrooms
overall expensive all considered
Big fan of Fade St & Rustic but Shelbourne was a big letdown. Service very poor.
Attended on a busy night after international rugby. Restricted menu and choices. Food was excellent. Service a bit disorganised. Smoke/fire alarm kept going off. Table was inside door with draught every time door opened. It was not possible to be moved as restaurant was full. Staff polite and helpful. Decor lovely.
Great post match venue for food
Our first visit was a table at 18h45 on the evening of a rugby international. This was a good test of the restaurant. A special menu was in operation with sharing plates and some single plates. For a number of reasons, in our party of 3, the sharing plates did not work and the single plates were not that interesting (cod and pasta). However, Eoin, one of the managers, was most helpful, rose to the occasion and produced superb single helpings of steak, tuna and linguini which kept us all happy. The tapas starters were superb. We shared a single dessert and some delicious white wine from the Marlborough region on South Island, NZ. Of course, it was noisy after the rugby match when the dining room and bar area filled up. Overall, a good experience but would love to try it again on a quieter night. Have reservations about the lights and I suspect it could do with sound baffles to mask the noise from the bar. Will definitely be back.
First time going.
We had lunch on Saturday, booking for 1.45pm , we arrived at 1.30pm received bill at 3.40pm , had we not asked for each course to be cleared, I feel we would have missed the match, service was extremely slow for lunch service , we had to ask for each course to be cleared , it was like nobody was looking after our table or assigned to us , just had to ask anybody passing by. The food when it did arrive was excellent. I'm sure we don't need to tell you by now people are struggling with your shared food style , it causes issue for 3 diners together . The table we were sat on right next to the door is not suitable , it was very cold day and it was very chilly every time the door opened , even more so why the team struggled with the constantly ringing fire panel. Staff very helpful and friendly when they did serve us. Just really disappointed by the whole experience. Team excellent & food excellent ….I hope you accept the feedback and get the whole thing to gel better. Thank you
An absolute gem, charming service, superb food and stunning wines.
The food, service and surroundings were excellent. The menu was unusual and the team were very good at explaining and helping us to order.
I have to say that even though there were some major kitchen issues and we had to wait so long for the food, the staff made the night. Very well handled for what was a very awkward situation! The cocktails were great and the sharing chicken for mains was divine. Lovely night out !
I’m only writing this because this morning the Irish Independent published a somewhat negative review with which I couldn’t agree less.
We received a lovely warm welcome, and as two of our party of 5 had not yet arrived, we were offered the option of a drink at the bar or at our table. The menus came promptly and our server explained the menu very well.
We all loved the the decor, and at least one camera came out to steal ideas.
The service throughout was charming and mostly efficient. I took off one star because we ordered 3 G&Ts and 4 arrived, and we had to ask twice for a second bottle of beer, and then 3 appeared on the bill. This is a little petty of me perhaps, because all else was faultless.
The food was all delicious. We shared curd bread, and cod and prawn dishes for mains, with sides of chips and carrots. I couldn’t bring my vegan family members here, and vegetarian options need work, but all our party are happy with fish.
Our server kept an eye on us, keeping our water glasses topped up, but was not intrusive.
They called a taxi for us, and when two drew up outside, one of them ran out to ask which was ours, declaring it was too cold for us to go out unnecessarily.
It was indeed a very cold (3C) and windy, and towards the end of our night (11.30pm), a couple of us felt it was getting a bit chilly. It was time to go anyway, and we all agreed we’ll definitely be back.
Superb meal, fantastic atmosphere. Great choice on the menu. Service was excellent
Friday at 9.30 we thought was a good time to test this new venture by Dylan - a welcome greeting and a corner seat and it was warm and as we had just come from the Leinster match much appreciated - another place was set for our party of four, coats taken and menus delivered to the table. The first wine I picked was not available and then my first starter wasn't available - just keep going and get the food. So we waited and waited, drank our drinks - a complimentary dish was sent out (not that old trick), had they forgotten about us? Eventually and just before a reminder to the management at 10.45 out food arrived and was delicious I have to say - everybody was happy - apart from my wife getting continually bashed every time somebody got up, or food was delivered to the table next to us, the waiter refilling my red wine glass with white wine, with some of my red wine still left for me to savour - no worries he brought back a fresh glass with a splash of red wine in it and then for some reason found it very difficult to clear the table - fortunately his colleague was at hand and he knew what he was doing. Teething problems, maybe and we all agreed we wouldn't rush back for a €270 bill!
The food was lovely and the waiter was fabulous, he steered us very well. The decor is lovely, it's very large but each table has space and it is well designed. The bar is opening soon and you can have a drink and some snacks like the delicious curd bread there
It felt quite noisy for our group. The waiter was very well versed on the food menu and little less so on the drinks
The service was so bad. We ordered our drinks when we were seated and Our food arrived before our drinks arrived.......25 minutes later. No flexibility on menu. Asked for the broccoli with no cheese. Not possible. So many stressed managers running around made staff v nervous. Won’t be back.
The smoked banana dessert was a total disaster , overpowered by smoke
Menu is confusing, especially the starters, needs to be simplified for ease of selection.
Perfect evening with expectional food and service . Highly recommended
On reviewing the menu, i was excited to see several 'vegetarian' options under the market section. I was disappointed to find that these market dishes were more like vegetable sharing dishes. I opted for the carrot & ricotta dish, which was priced at €18. It was not a dish one person could have, as it consisted of around 8 whole carrots, not a dish designed to have by oneself. My other half had the cod dish which was a dish one person could have without it been a sharing dish. I did ask the waiter for recommendations on which vegetable dishes would be more suited towards a vegetarian dish, he first suggested the wagyu meat dish???? and then the hummus and bread.
Lovely room, attentive and knowledgeable service and beautiful food made for a very pleasant lunch.
Our experience at Shelbourne Social was extremely good - we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The only comment we would make was there was quite an abundance of food. It all tasted SO GOOD but with the volume it was hard to enjoy all, without feeling glutinous.
Would seriously recommend the restaurant to friends and family.
We had dinner here on Saturday 12th January, the staff were friendly and attentive when we arrived it was quiet but towards the end of our meal the restaurant was full and the level of service slipped which was disappointing.
The food was excellent although the menu is a little confusing the waiter did a good job navigating us through it. My favourite dishes were the beef tartare and the duck pot, these were everyone’s favourite at the table, least favourite were the chicken wings and the crab on crushed ice, I found these both lacked flavour although beautifully prepared and presented.
I would highly recommend Shelbourne Social and we will be back, it is expensive but in my opinion worth it, meal for 4 adults with a couple of bottles of wine €306, and it was great to see Dylan come out of the kitchen and interacting with the customers, so often chefs put their name on a restaurant and never actually work there.
Did not live up to Dylan McGrath’s other venues. Menu is awkward and we did not get good advice from waiter-tried to sell us too much food. Some of the dishes don’t work well. Prices are high enough for everything to be perfect but the overall experience was far from the required standard.
Wonderful evening - fabulous food - great atmosphere and delightful staff.
Really fantastic food & service
Best food, service and ambience in Dublin. Every dish was delicious, bursting with flavour and creativity. Kudos to Dylan McGrath - a credit to this city - and with a few wonderful restaurants under his belt, he breathes innovation in everything he creates. We'll be back!

Unbelievable dining experience. Just amazing.
A very unique dining experience. Lovely decor. Staff were exceptionally nice.
The food was absolutely incredible, our waiter was so knowledgable about wine and food and made brilliant recommendations
Mixed advice from waiters on how much to order. Pork Belly was very poor
Staff very professional, cuisine is very special, something for everyone on the menu, cocktails are very unique. Shelburne Social is a perfect name given the sociable lay out of the restaurant, cozy yet energetic. The social aspect continues onto the menu with a lot of mains designed to share which makes for an intimate dining experience with your nearest and dearest. I would highly recommend the Shelburne Social for that special occasion or if you just want to treat yourself, l look forward to my next visit.
