Shelbourne Social by Dylan McGrath
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. From the welcome, ambience, detailed decor and feel, Shelbourne Social raises expectations. The menu is well designed, explained well, and the food was exceptional. Scallops and Tuna to start, then Chateaubriand, perfectly cooked. It was the best mea we have had in Dublin in the last 2 years. We will be back.
Excellent service, good choice on the menu and nice atmosphere.
Great dining room and atmosphere. Style over substance both with the food and the service, overall the meal fell short and certainly didn’t justify the price.
Excellent food and service. Brian serves our table and was an absolute gentleman. Looking forward to coming back.
Fabulous evening in Dylan McGraths shelbourne Social!
Delicious food especially the melt in mouth lamb and baby turnips served at the table from a Le creuset pot on a trivet.
The side of organic carrot was exceptional with cumin flavoour and whipped potato.
Very unctuous dish rich & flavoursome.
We had the scallops for starter and they were sweet and delicate.
The dessert of hazelnut chocolate meringue was really amazing!
I am not really a dessert person but the meringue was unreal crisp on outside with soft pillowy meringue inside with creme anglaise and chocolate hazelnut in a deep layer.
We enjoyed a favorite bottle of picpoul with our meal chosen out of an extensive well priced wine list.
Dylan himself was popping in & out to check on everyone!
Fab service could not have enjoyed ourselves more!
Perhaps it was the bank holiday, however, the restaurant was practically empty. Service was great, really nice people. Food was unimpressive, burgers were nice, however, hard to get that wrong, but feeling was that it was overpriced for what it was and not very memorable.
I was disappointed with my meal, I ordered Cod without mushrooms as I'm allergic to them. This was no problem according to the waiter. The same waiter disappeared to work behind the bar when my main course arrived, and yes, the Cod was on a bed of mushrooms. There was no one to assist us, all staff were rushing, too busy to see our calls for help. To avoid my partners dinner getting cold I pushed the cod to the side of my bowl (plate) to try and eat the fish away from the mushrooms, I wanted him to enjoy his meal as my meal was already ruined. Finally someone did come to our table and I requested a hot plate to eat the remainder of the Cod. The original waiter did apologise for his error and said he would look after us. When we got out bill I was shocked that we were charged in full for my Cod. The bill was adjusted to ensure we were not charged for glasses of wine, but this gesture did not make up for our night being ruined. Sorry but I would not be recommending anyone to eat here.
Great dining experience, would recommend it highly.
We had an absolutely fabulous evening at Shelbourne Social everything was just perfect. Starting with the wonderful person who greeted us when we arrived and said we didn't need to rush to go enjoy our drinks at the beautiful upstairs bar.... then our waiting staff were all superb, the food was divine to start we had the hot curd bread , scallops, tuna and pressed cumcumber followed by the family style fish which was beautiful, the burgers and the the shared rib eye plate... the two sneaky favorites of the night were the carrot and corn sides finally had a few desserts all again lovely. We were the last to leave and really would have stayed longer we were having such a nice time . All in all we'd all give it a 5 star rating. Now looking forward to our next visit.
This was our second visit to Shelbourne Social, the first was a birthday this was an anniversary- truly a wonderful experience.
The portions are generous, something we learned from our first visit. It really has to be experienced first hand and take from it your own delight.
Topped off when Dylan spent some time chatting with us at the end of the evening... SUPERB!!
As expected, an unusual menu from Dylan McGrath. Food delicious and expertly served by very well trained staff. Worth every penny!
The service was excellent, staff are well trained. Attention to detail was also top class e.g we were escorted upstairs for our cocktail. Only small detail was the mashed potato, although delicious was over whipped and more liquid than solid. Definitely book again.
We found this new restaurant to be similar to D Mc Grath other ones - excellent ingredients put together creatively. Great effort to provide a professional service/unique experience and if there is an issue it gets immediate and suitable resolution. Good luck to this team!
Fab place beautiful food and delighted to meet Joseph😁
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
My wife and I were visiting Dublin and spotted the restaurant near our hotel.
It is in a modern office type building and I assume they are aiming for business market but as a couple we were very impressed by the food which was a bit different from the norm and the staff who were very pleasant and attentive.
The meal was not cheap but overall well worth it.
Our first visit. Fabulous place; food was outstanding. Decor and service very impressive also. Would highly recommend.
Good quality in refined environment
I brought my daughter and niece who was celebrating her birthday and is in Dublin doing work experience in the culinary arts area which is her passion. The waiter was excellent and helped us choose our food. All the food was yummy, so many different tastes going on. Could not fault a thing and we had a lovely bottle of sauvignon blanc with the meal along with a really nice dessert. I would definitely go back to try some of the other menu items.
Really enjoyable evening. The bar upstairs really nice good buzz , service very friendly and informative. Lovely pre dinner champagne. The restaurant was lovely not to noisy. Waiter very friendly. Only one small critic it took a while for the wine to arrive. The food was amazing from beginning to end. Will be back. It is pricey so great for a special occasion.
Food was fabulous. Great flavours. The service needs attention. Little too much upselling from some. Little inexperience on service delivery as well.
Enjoyed everything except Soba noodles side (was there supposed to be a prawn or two in it?) and the air con could have been a degree higher in the restaurant section upstairs. That's nitpicking. Oysters fab, hummus fab, crab extra fab, dorade fab, sticky toffee pudding fab. Third time here and looking forward to next visit.
Had an amazing experience here on Saturday night.
This place really has the wow factor!!. The staff were so attentive and friendly and were great when explaining the menu. For starters we had the hot curd bread with the hummus and garlic we also had the oysters and burrata. The oysters are the best I’ve ever tasted and this is coming from an oyster lover there a must, I would go back just to have them again.
For Mains we shared the Chateaubriand which was beautiful and had amazing Flavors, for sides we ordered the fries with rosemary and the carrots and broccoli. It was a lot a food but we wanted to try everything.
For dessert we had the soft serve ice cream with smoked banana miso Carmel and rice crispies this was simply delicious, and perfect for sharing if your really full.
After our dinner we went to the bar were I had one of the nicest expresso martinis was a perfect way to end the night.
Can’t wait to go back already!
As always super food and service. We had a great night and the staff are very welcoming and obliging. Every time we have eaten there Dylan has come out to our table to get our feedback, nice touch.
What a surprise !!!as a regular Dublin going couple to all the restaurants new and old it was a refreshing surprise to get such good food and wine and great service at a very good prices will definitely be back
Great! Good fantastic and lots of it
Absolutely loved our first experience at the Shelbourne Social on Saturday night, can't wait to go back again and try more of the delicious menu.
We had a glass of lovely champagne to start.
We had tuna, foie gras /prunes with pancakes and oysters, all three were AMAZING.
Main course we had seafood with rice cake, this was good but a little bit of a let down after the starters.
Wine was excellent.
Service was friendly and efficient but not overbearing
Amazing food, one of the best meals I’ve had. Staff could be a little more attentive. Took 15 minutes to flag someone’s attention at the end for the bill. But would highly recommend
This was our second visit as a group before the rugby match. We loved the seating (curved seating with chairs on the other side of the table)...there were 7 of us...set menu of 65 per person...plenty of food....it was brilliant...the lamb pot was extraordinary and the wine was great too.
Only one small thing, we ended up with some young waiters towards the end and one of them emptied Pinot Grigio into my glass of Chablis....he should have checked which white wine I was drinking.
It's all in the little details. What an experience!
As usual we all looked forward to our evening in Shelboune Social and we were not disappointed,
The welcome, table, food and waitress were excellent.
Look forward to returning soon.
Amazing food and really good service and staff. Would definitely return again!
Loved the restaurant. Food innovative and excellent. We ordered too much but all delicious. Service v good, friendly and helpful.
Such delicious food & amazing staff!
The food was excellent so tasty, even the cocktails were very interesting, the ambiance and atmosphere in the restaurant/bar was really calm and nice and well decorated! I will 100% be back! We had a great server called Brian who treated us really well
Fantastic meal and experience. The staff here are amongst the most professional I have encountered anywhere in the world. The menu was well explained and portion sizes advised so we didn't waste lots of food. Our waitress was top class. Alot must have gone into training the staff so there is a great feeling of cohesiveness with them all. Food is very innovative, presentation lovely. Wine recommended was spot on. Highly recommended to all who appreciate great service and creative food.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will return. Particularly enjoyed the range of flavours in each dish, they really worked. Only complaint I would have is that some of the dishes could do with a lot less salt.
Having been for lunch on Friday then dinner on Saturday.. I really like the food.
Only thing is acoustics quite hard to hear.
Also street lights from side street very strong in your eyes.
Amazing service and gorgeous food, very enjoyable dining experience.
