Food was amazing as always. Sevice is less formal and professional than years back when we would visit here. We still love the restaurant and will be back.

An upscale and inviting place, with a cozy atmosphere and elevated American fare. We had to wait a long time for our food (at least 45 minutes) but otherwise our meal was satisfactory. We ordered the duck and the NY strip. Both were good but the steak was very tender and perfectly grilled, the she crab soup was also delightful. This place is pricey and I can make food just as good at home, but it makes for a good date night in downtown Lynchburg.

Accommodating as we arrived earlier than planned and seated us without any issue. Food, service and drinks were top notch.

We ordered the tuna appetizer which was perfect. We ordered the lamb and scallops. All were extremely delicious. The Derby pie was excellent. I had the peach mousse which I did not care for maybe it was just too bland. Our wine was excellent. The server was fantastic. It was a special occasion and we will go again.

VERY expensive mediocre food, decently presented by very nice and attentive staff. The music is often inappropriate -- jazzy sax, etc -- when a more mellow sound (e.g. Sinatra, Dean Martin) would enhance the setting. The wine list is quite good, but lacks year of vintage, and there is no after dinner drinks menu. On our 49th anniversary, we both ordered the filet medium-rare. Came out rare. Sent back -- came out medium and quite cool -- the seasoned butter on mine didn't melt! Also, the potato dish that comes with all the steaks was decent -- for a school cafeteria. Three small, under cooked spears of asparagus checked the box for "the vegetable," but were basically inedible. The menu is also quite odd -- if you decided to go, you should check it first. There were no daily specials. They used to have an outstanding caesar salad, but, alas, no longer. Likewise the Kona coffee filet. Sadly, I cannot recommend Shoemakers at this time...

Service staff is exceptional. Food preparations interesting and very tasty! Prices are a little high. I would eat there more if prices were a bit lower or perhaps there were more lower-cost selections.

The duck was undercooked and rubbery... the salmon was dry. The asparagus was thick and tough. I was surprised and disappointed. On the other hand, the garnishes were beautiful.
