A bit pricey but good place to go if you can afford it =)
Very good fare and excellent service combined with Jazz was great! Highly recommend this place
Great place to listen to jazz and have a nice meal—
Excellent bar. Great service. Arugula salad was nice and refreshing. The steak was good, but the fries and roasted garlic sides were exceptional. The decor is cozy and comfortable. Acoustics and sound were great. The jazz lineup is without compare. I will be back!
This was the second time in two weeks that we've come to Smoke with friends. The first time, we were being introduced to it by good friends who had been before and really liked it--and we thought it was great. Last Saturday night we suggested it to two old friends--both of whom grew up in NYC. One lives in Manhattan but didn't know Smoke--and the other, a concert pianist, lives in FL. Both of them loved it!
The combination of terrific music and very good food makes for a special evening! Thank you!
Judy and John Day
Outstanding evening. Eric Lewis alone with the trio were truly amazing. Great choice!😎
Great music, the Harlem sessions with Marc Carey and friends is amazing.
Most people come to Smoke for the world class jazz presented every night. What they might be surprised to learn is, Smoke is also an impressive restaurant that turns out quality fare with a Southern vibe. Standouts on this visit were an Heirloom Tomato salad in the Caprese style with basil and mozzarella. It was a simple, yet satisfying starter with high quality seasonal ingredients. The main course of Lobster Bouillabaisse was served in a rich traditional tomato sauce accompanied by a generous portion of Alaskan Cod, mussels, clams and of course, lobster. Unlike many jazz clubs where you put up with the food just to hear the music, Smoke is a refreshing treat. The wine list is well curated and offers a variety of quality selections at a reasonable price. The music is supported by an excellent sound system. Service is attentive and friendly. I look forward to my next visit to Smoke!
La cucina chiude presto, chi va alle 22:30 non può mangiare in alcun modo.... la musica jazz in alcuni momenti è a discrezione di principianti provenienti dal pubblico
Smoke is a true gem! Every time I visit, the music is top notch. Food is much better then some of the most highly rated restaurants in Manhattan.
The jazz is very well chosen and the chef really works on her food, so overall it is very thoughtful and civilized and, of course, unique on the Upper West side.
Though you can’t smoke; the music and musicians are always “smoking” at SmokeJazz. The crew is so welcoming and the hospitality makes you feel right at home.
If you’re into an evening of good food and good music; SmokeJazz is the place, you can’t miss, it’s always on.
Celebrated my 33rd birthday here last night with some friends. Very inviting and cozy atmosphere. The band was amazing, and they made the experience worth it. However, the food left so much to be desired, and did not coincide with the hefty price tag. The side dishes that came with the entrees were tiny and the food was just overall lackluster. The wine was about 15 dollars a glass and was just a few sips, they could have poured more generously. It was just not what we expected with regard to cuisine. I would certainly return, but only for the music. In addition to paying for dinner you have to buy your tickets for the show separately which adds on to how expensive Smoke is and the reason for the low rating on the overall value. If it were not for the band I would have been disappointed. But Mr, Figueroa and his band rocked the house!
We had an incredible time with my girlfriend. The food was outstanding. So tasty and cooked to perfection. Really, hands down to the cook, the best. But not only was the food amazing but George Cables is a fascinating human being and performer. Felt really good listening to him play the piano with his two other colleagues in the drums and bass.
Best place in NYC to hear great jazz
So wonderful to have a place like this in the neighborhood. It is intimate and very friendly and yet they get some of the top name performers. Always a pleasure to go there.
They cancelled my reservation a few hours before the show. I had to call them and they reinstated my booking. They explained they do it to be double sure people with reservations will attend. Absurd policy!
Otherwise excellent venue and music.
Good food at a great jazz venue. Cozy, intimate well designed. Prices are good. Service is efficient and professional. Very good drinks menu
Great jazz club! We really enjoyed music and food.
The drummer stole the show, I believe he is one of the Greatest to play
Harold is a genius
Smoke Was amazing. The food and drinks were amazing, some flavors I'd necer had before. Everyrhing was expertly made. Wednesday night with Lezlie Harrison who si an icredivle and charismatic singer with a super talented band. Would recommend again and again.
Great time. Brought colleagues and saw Lezlie Harrison- amazing singer. Wonderful dinner and drinks.
Birthday dinner and jazz with our teen! Fantastic evening!
On vacation and decided to follow up on a recommendation to visit this place. Food was great and the music was fabulous. Really enjoyed it!
Great music, ambiance, and food!!!! Cover at door, but well worth it...reasonable priced menu for drinks and food
A unique and characteristic New York jazz club. Wonderful experience
Once a favorite jazz venue, we come less and less. Music is still generally excellent but the food is just awful. Low quality ingredients badly prepared. Last Friday night, we had very greasy fried chicken, another dish we won’t repeat. But we’re running out of choices. Some time ago, we were happy with an edible hamburger but that’s been discontinued. Fortunately Manhattan has other jazz clubs with palatable offerings.
Great music, good food!
My girlfriend is a jazz musician and was extremely excited to attend - the venue is amazing, the only issue I had was the food. It was beyond tasteless, the prefix is a good deal but not when you only end up eating the app because the main course was dry and the dessert tasted like it was made the morning before. I mean the "jalapeno mac & cheese" came out white, there is no reason for that. The singer was amazing, I recommend going on a Wednesday as the Leslie Harrison is amazing. I also recommend eating before you go, the drinks were weak if I did go again I wouldn't order food.
We had a nice time. Thank you.
Please bring back the burger.
IF YOU WANT TO HEAR TOP QUALITY JAZZ IN A VERY INTIMATE SETTING,
SMOKE IS A GREAT PLACE TO GO. THE MUSICIANS PLAY FOR AN HOUR SET, AND AUDIENCE
MEMBERS HAVE THE GOOD SENSE NOT TO YACK AND DISTRACT.
THE FOOD IS ALSO QUITE GOOD.
Mike was amazing. The food was soooo good. This is a great spot!
Geoge Cables trio are superb. Since it was restaurant week, unlike last Monday, this week it was very crowded. Everyone put in their orders at apparently the same time. I arrived at 6 pm, 1 hour before the music began but service was very slow. The portion of the tomato salad with mozzarella cheese was tiny. The main course arrived just before the musicians were seated to perform. I do not want to eat while they are performing; I like to focus on the music. I requested to be served before the music started but instead had to rush my dining. Not healthy and not enjoyable. It was good value since the food helps to pay for the musicians' salaries, but as an aesthetic experience, I enjoyed Aug 5 much more than Aug 12. One would think that the prep work done in the kitchen [slicing tomatoes, cheese, etc] could be completed before the crowd arrives. Perhaps the kitchen did not expect such a large turnout.
Foods and services were great. Friendly environment. Drinks diluted, could hardly taste any alcohol and charged more than it should be.
The band was great but they started talking about politics! I was there to enjoy myself and we spent $300.00 for two people - I don’t appreciate it when the entertainment wants to discuss their views. I asked for the check!!
We really enjoyed Eric Reed's show. And the food and service were terrific.
It was my birthday and it was something different to do. I enjoyed the music but food was nothing out of the ordinary to me. But enjoyed my birthday oversell!
For a mixture of quality food, service and music, it is the best venue in town.
