SOLE Seafood & Grill
Dined at the bar stools, great atmosphere, great service and fantastic food/drinks.
The place looks like you are in a ship I like the way it looks. Very warm and welcoming, staff are very attentive. Food is good but some of the sauces I would not put with Fish. Some of the food with the fish I would not put. I think more of the fish should be plain and cooked only in butter like the John Dory. Overall the food is very good with a little adjustments it would be perfect. The manager very good at what he does and noticed when customers were not fully satisfied and went out of his way to make are meal what we wanted. takes on what you say so next time he can make your meal perfect. Great restaurant and can only get better will go back.
Really poor service, average food, and stuck at table near the toilets, despite front of restaurant not being full. Let manager know on way out that we didn't have a good experience, but we were brushed off. Won't be returning.
Superb service, great food, but wouldn't recommend the fish and chips. Originally the batter on the fish was greasy and distasteful, when returned the batter wasn't cooked properly. All else was superb
Sole is a wonderful experience. Excellent good, great staff and ambience.
Lovely place - early bird menu was lacking - choice of fish dishes was limited unless you liked shellfish - we both chose fish and chips - the fish was a little over done and disappointing. On the other hand 😄 the starters and desserts were excellent- with a good choice- would visit again ...
Food good, but waiting staff beyond annoying and really ruined the evening.
There is such a thing as trying too hard and the OTT sickly fake attention was really rather pathetic.
If I had a $ for every time I was asked if everything was ok or did I like a certain course I could have paid for the meal..! This became even more ridiculous when I ordered a single glass of wine, different to what I had been drinking (as wasn’t available by the glass) and more expensive (same grape). Whilst the waiter was happy to hear when we said things were ok, he became annoyed when in response to his question ‘how is your wine’, I simply said I far preferred the cheaper option - and told me well it’s obviously my personal opinion and I was basically wrong. If you don’t like hearing anything other than yes everything is ok - DON’T ASK THE QUESTION in the first place......
Dear Justin, I am very surprised to read your review especially that we are highly recognised and rated for the quality of our service. We work hard to offer our guests an excellent experience, I am sorry that you felt otherwise. The server just stated he respects your taste not that you are wrong and definitely not was not annoyed by your opinion. We only have 2 albarino in our wine list and he obviously offered you same grape varietal to please you. Kind regards, Victor N General Manager
One of the best seafood restaurants I've ever visited. Starter of mussels was very tasty and I also had the specials main which was monkfish and risotto balls which was beautiful. Would definetley reccomend this to seafood lovers!
The food was good but not exceptional, therefore I felt that it was overrated. It’s overpriced too. The chowder was ordinary and the fish pie had too much mash potato for the amount of fish.
It was a fabulous experience. The noise levels rose as the dinner went on - it seems that perhaps it might be a very loud experience from 8pm onwards. The only criticism I have is, while the menu is quite detailed with the description of every dish, it failed to mention that bacon is part of scallops starter - my partner is a pescatarian, so it was a little disappointing to find bacon served on the plate. Otherwise, the food is fab, would certainly recommend.
Dear Eve, Thank you for taking the time to review SOLE Seafood and Grill. I am very happy to read you enjoyed in your latest visit. However on our Scallop starter there is mention of Crispy pancetta, pea puree and scallop coral sauce. We are looking forward to welcoming you to SOLE in near future. Warmest Regards, Anita Jedlicka, Assistant Restaurant Manager
Advertised as Europe’s no 1 fish restaurant. Not sure who came up with this claim, but definitely doesn’t live up to it, nice restaurant, decent service and very average food.
Absolutely fantastic evening, food & wine were very enjoyable. Restaurant was busy but attention & service was impeccable. Our waiter was Emil he was very good - great recommendation of wine for what we where having for our meal - will definitely be back.
On the 10th of January my boyfriend and I dined in Sole. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with a warm welcome from both the host and other staff members that were near the wait stand.
Our waiter (did not get his name a tall gentleman) greeted us and throughout the whole meal he was extremely pleasant and helpful.
To drink we ordered a bottle of Sancerre, a bottle of peroni and two glasses of Gruner.
To eat we started with the scallops and the mussels, then the seabass, fish pie and a side of broccoli and to finish a chocolate dome with passionfruit. The food was delicious, the presentation of the dishes was very appealing (kudos to the chef).
Overall, everything from entering to leaving the restaurant was lovely and we had a great overall experience in Sole. We shall be back!
I recommend only for the oysters and other cold dishes. Clearly they're using very high quality seafood but it's all a bit boring and stuffy. Firstly you're presented with two types of bread. The butter is stone cold and the soda bread is maybe the driest I've ever had (seated next to a gorgeous, chewy, open crumb ciabatta-y bread which would have been enough alone). The john dory was hammered and tasted like it was cooked in the frier. The sauce had no balance the aroma was dead. The oysters were exceptional and the crab was tasty. The drinks were fine, but a French 75 made with prosecco? Really? At least give cava a chance if you can't afford the price of champagne.
The only reason I'm this critical is because Sole charges like michelin but are miles away.
The atmosphere was good and the wine was excellent. The fish was over cooked which was disappointing . Generally we enjoyed the evening but the food disappointed.
Absolutely excellent all round. Beautiful setting and ambiance, friendly staff and the food was fantastic.
Very disappointed, food was very average and wine list was outrageously expensive. Unfortunately overpriced, underdelivered.
Lovely food and very attentive service. Extensive menu
Super restaurant avec une magnifique qualité
Would highly recommend, excellent welcome, food and service.
Excellent service Good food Comprehensive wine list
Very surprised to be charged for petit fours we did not order Fid not spoil a good evening by raising it but poor practice
Excellent restaurant for New Year's Eve dinner with family. Staff very professional and pleasant. Fresh fish very well cooked. I recommand it for sure.
The headline for this review should be “Gastro Arrogance”. The food was really very good, we both enjoyed our entrées: John Dory and Seabass. However, the service that we received was truly nose stuck in the air. Our waiter all but ignored us and when we finally got his attention he told us they were very busy. Ok, it was New Years Eve, but shouldn’t the restaurant have anticipated the staffing levels and not impacted the enjoyment of its patrons? Maybe they just don’t like 2 women or or maybe they don’t like Americans! I would not eat here again, despite the great food and reputation.
We very much enjoyed the evening and the food was very good with the exception of the pannacotta which was runny and a disappointment (serving a pannacotta in a jar kind of defeats the purpose!) However it was a great evening and the service was very well paced.
We went for NYE dinner, and I have to say it was one of the better meals I've had. Everything was fab. Would do it again for sure!
Really enjoyed and a lovely experience, highly recommended😀😀👌
Service, food and ambience were amazing. Would definitely recommend! Reservations highly encouraged.
As always, fabulous experience, nice atmosphere, great food and lovely atmosphere
Great food and attentive service however the noise levels of the other "guests" made the overall experience one that I would not repeat. Shame considering the food and service was great. If you don't mind very noisy atmosphere then go for it but if a quiet, relaxed and sophisticated dining experience is what you are looking for maybe ask to be seated in the front of the restaurant.
an amazing restaurant - would recommend to all - certainly worth a visit great atmosphere and great food. Service was second to none.
Terrific seafood restaurant in Dublin. Great service and ambiance and very helpful guidance by the waiting staff. Most enjoyable. Will definitely return
Amazing staff, delicious food, great atmosphere.
Really fabulous restaurant, lovely atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff and gorgeous food. All of us enjoyed it immensely
Delicious seafood, really great quality cooking & very generous portions. It’s not cheap, but you do get what you pay for. Will definitely return.
Fabulous restaurant. Highly recommend.
Excellent food combined with excellent service made for a brilliant overall dining experience. Would recommend and I’ll be back myself again!
Ate dinner here on the 23rd Dec and straight away bought a voucher for family as a gift. Top class
Beautiful food with quality ingredients. Lovely atmosphere, great staff. No pressure to order or to leave. Comfortable surroundings.
Beautiful restaurant in great location. Food on the whole was great, my steak slightly under medium but still good. We ordered 2 bottles of sparking water at €5.50 each which was a bit steep.
Food was fab and waiters knowledge on menu was fantastic!
