TESSA
We offer an inspired and innovative menu. Taking tradition Italian, French, and Spanish dishes and using only the finest seasonal produce, local products and specialty or artisanal items from local or imported sources, we have created an extensive menu containing selections ranging from shared plates and appetizers to home made pastas and exciting main dishes. Our menus change with the seasons and there are truly "specials" on offer every night.
We apologize, but our dining areas do not accomodate Highchairs, Booster Seats, or Strollers.
This place is a neighborhood gem - but it can get noisy.
We got there at the beginning of the brunch time so we were able to talk with ease.
By the end of our brunch (which was delicious, we all thought), it was quite loud. The atmospheric brick walls reflect back all the sound. There is very little upholstery - a banquette bench & hard wood chairs - and no sound/acoustic panels on the ceiling (which has an openwork metal treatment like accordion security gates suspended below piping, etc.) so the sound bounces back.
I really enjoy their food but take care to go early.
It was good but not wow. Cacio e pepe was the star of the meal.
We were a group of 5 elderly persons on 12/3/2019, one person with a walker and one with a cane we were treated by staff as kings. My thanks for their kindness. Waitress was a GEM and we loved her. I'm sorry I forget her name. Food was excellent as usual. The kindness shown us was exceptional.
Very expensive for what they provided. The food was passable, but nothing more. We will not go back.
If there was any negative for me it would be the noise level. It is very loud and hard to have a conversation.
Superb waitress. Wish I had gotten her name. Always smiling. Blond hair.
Tessa has serious noise issues. The food was creative and delicious, the service was attentive and professional. But the night we were there it was so loud the waiter had to practically shout in our ears to be heard and vice versa. All with a smile of course. Our dishes were excellent, really good; and the wait staff awkwardly cheerful. I would love to come back but it was really painful.
Salvatore is a great bartender!
We used to love eating at Tessa, but this time was very disappointing- food was fair, service poor. My husband and I each ordered a glass of wine which we had to remind our server to bring. Also noticed that it was kind of quiet for a Saturday night. Seems like your transferring your best resources to Asset...
First time at Tessa. Went before a beacon show and the waiter was very conscious of our timing. The food was excellent and the ambience was wonderful. We will definitely be back
Birthday dinner prior to seeing Jerry Seinfeld at the Beacon Theatre. It was just two of us and we seated in an area that basically had you sitting with other people. No privacy at all and very awkward to have a conversation. Other than that food and service was terrific.
Great evening except they put us at a table for 4 with 6 people. The head of the table seat was next to the stairs in the walkway and the poor guy was bumped in the back by staffers and other guests for the entire meal. Not ideal when we made the reservation days in advance. They didn’t try to “squeeze” us in at the last minute.
Wonderful dinner in a very pretty restaurant. The service was terrific, food great, place pretty. Look forward to coming back. What more can I say?
Food is wonderful with a splattering of healthy choices and sinfull ones as well
Good food, decent prices. noisy with a lot of kids crammed in the seats next to us. Server entered my entree incorrectly so I got the wrong food. Told the waiter immediately and he said I got what he wrote down. So I ate what I got. Wish I got what I ordered
Everything was outstanding. The food, the excellent service and the restaurant itself. The food was just delicious and the wait staff was fantastic. Definitely coming back again!
Great food and service.
I forgot that it was brunch time..silly me!
Was looking forward to an early dinner, but I will visit again to try their Dinner menu.
One of my favorite spots - the food never disappoints! Great for brunch, lunch, dinner, and drinks.
Wonderful and mikala was a great server
The chicken was horrible....dry and grisly + small portion
TESSA Is always good — have had lunch here a few times.
The restaurant was practically empty at this late’ish lunch hour so the staff was not exactly overwhelmed. Still, the waitstaff managed to forget 3 things they were specifically asked for. And all 3 had to b asked for again. They just felt v distracted. Salads underwhelming.
This has been by far the best experience I've had dining in a minute. The vibe is very hip, romantic, relaxed vibe. Light music. Dim lighting. The cocktail are delicious and every single plate was a hit: meatballs, octopus, steak frites, tessa salad, and the spaghetti. I would definitely come back to try more dishes. And the doughnuts were amazing!
Excellent choices, every dish was well prepared and presented. Very good cocktails.
Trendy atmosphere with trendy food.
Loved the food so much
Service was great! Wine was great! Menu was fabulous! I had the long island duck which was scrumptious I was especially surprised by the parsnips and turnips! My new favorite place!!!!
Great service and excellent food. It was my second visit and I would go back again.
A great girls night out in the city. The waiter was very sensitive to the fact that we needed to go to a show. The sommelier was helpful. Wait staff excellent. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. Would recommend highly.
The food and service was great however it was so dark we couldn’t read the menu or see what our food looked like
As always a wonderful experience from the moment we were seated (which was right away) to the moment we departed. A class act!
I was just in NYC for the marathon for the weekend, and wanted soemwhere right around the corner from the Hotel. Yelp reviewers gave no indication that it was basically a somewhat up market pub, but in fact that was all it was...so we arrived, well attired, and at least imagining a more upscale restaurant experience. Service was 'fine'. Cocktail menu is great, they appear to have some good wines, and our food was pretty good. The waitress lacked a couple of basics, especially as to serving the wine....maybe we were a bit exhausted, but while everything went somewhat according to expectations, we left feeling a little flat. Lastly and our biggest gripe....our order anywhere else would have been in the region of about $90, but here it was $136....add a tip, and we're out quite a bit of money for not much of an evening.
This is a small and very pleasant restaurant with good food and excellent service. However the tables are crowded close together and it is very noisy. Difficult to have a conversation.
We thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful experience at Tessa prior to attending a concert at The Beacon Theater. The vibe and ambiance were comfortable and fun. The staff was extremely attentive without being intrusive. Everyone in our group loves the food as well.
Cozy neighborhood spot that welcomes and is inviting for everyone: knowledgeable and courteous staff, fresh ingredients, AMAZING Happy Hour (4-6pm). We’ll be back with more friends :)
We loved it, especially duck pastrami
Super wonderful across the board.
Will surely return and recommend to friends
Nice place on the Upper West Side for a tasty dinner with friends.
We came in after seeing a show at the Beacon...place was full and jovial when we walked in the door.
Ordered drinks and apps...drinks were good but the
Cauliflower appetizer was a dud...yogurt sauce under it was delicious but the cauliflower was completely plain and the dish needed some crunch.
Mains dishes came and the ricotta gnocchi was fantastic...the steak frites while cooked perfectly was under seasoned and cold. The final straw was the fact that the fries were old. They were room temperature at best.
Our waiter was apologetic for the steak mishap but at that point there wasn’t anything he could do about it.
Fantastic service, wonderful menu, delicious meal!
