Great speakeasy-type bar located in Dublin city center. The food was good and the drinks were top notch. When we dined, there was a large party seated behind us so it was pretty loud but we were still able to converse with each other. The atmosphere was befitting of a modern speakeasy with rather interesting surrealist-esque artwork on the exposed brick walls and upbeat, zaney music to get everyone in the mood! I’d definitely go back next time I’m in Dublin.
Hidden away beneath another Italian joint on Suffolk Street. You go in through a secret door in the basement. Really friendly staff, good service. Quirky and original menus. Delighted to discover this charming and different spot.
Great food and fantastic atmosphere
Loved the ambience. Booked for my husband's birthday as a treat and thoroughly enjoyed. He didn't know where I had booked and commented on how pleased he was. Nice lightening, great decent starters and tasty mains. Hadn't room for desert. The red wine we ordered was gorge, the bottles of wine are not cheap but the one we choose was 38 euro which was good value for the lovely bottle it was. To both our tastes.
After dinner we sat at the (small) bar for a cocktail and had 2 each. We were brought to the bar by our server and were given 2 glasses of ice water which was a nice touch. The bar tender was great at his job. He chose my 2nd cocktail based on what i liked and it was knock out. They were the best cocktails I ever had. Really worth it. Can't wait to go back for another occasion.
Really enjoyed it!
Fab service and the food was lovely
A nice place place to bring friends and 'surprise' them with a tasty dinner in a 'speakeasy' bar. Good cocktails that are worth trying out as you eat. Enjoy !
Fab place for cocktails and food! Wasn't overall pleased with the main but it was still worth the visit and I would definitely recommend the place to friends and family!
The meaning behind this restaurant really sold it to us. The service was good, the pizza garlic bread was amazing and the way it looked made me and friend feel so relaxed.
Such a hidden gem!
We loved everything about it from the quirky directions and the secret location to the delicious food and amazing cocktails. So glad we discovered this restaurant for our trip to Dublin.
Awesome place. Great food and wonderful ambiance.
Really special, quirky and fun
The story about the place was true, it really is a secret place😉even a policeman standing outside the restaurant we asked about the place didn't knew about it. The place was cool. Our reserved table was in the end under the speaker, so our romantic evening went without hearing each other and the only thing we was thinking about was how to get rid of the singer. It was to loud!!! The food was unfortunately very average.
Food was very oily and service was very poor- had to ask for drinks, ask to order and ask for the bill.
I liked it overall. When we arrived the group in front were having a problem with their reservation so we were left standing on the staircase waiting for that to be cleared up which meant we didn't get the whole secret door experience. Not the restaurants fault but maybe they could have been taken aside so we could be dealt with rather than standing there 10 mins. When we did get through the door we had to wait for our table but couldn't wait at the bar as it was full. When it emptied we were told not to sit at the bar as the staff moved folk from their dining tables to the bar. Then when their tables were cleared we were shown to our seats. It was a bit like musical chairs! The food was fabulous and very quick service. We didn't go for a cocktail as they all seemed a bit 'out there' not your run of the mill woo woos!! So we got a bottle of Malbec and it was lovely. Atmosphere was great and it's easy to see why it was packed.
Such a cool place, food was delicious and good value. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Very enjoyable experience. The food and drinks were serviced very quick
The staff are very good
Food was great and there was a nice atmosphere and it was good value. The staff were friendly but a bit all over the place. We were waiting a long time before we waved someone down for food. Then when we were leaving we got the bill and were waiting to pay. The same waitress who gave us the bill then came down telling us we have to leave as the next booking had arrived, even though we were the ones waiting to pay. Overall very good and will recommend.
Yummy food! Waitress needs to learn the menus however!
Wonderful setting and great ambience throughout. My cocktails were delicious.
Everything about the place is perfect. Especially the cocktails. Can't wait to go back!
Overpriced and too loud
Very nice little restaurant in some sort of old wine cellar. Ambiance was perfect and the 2 bartenders preparing the cocktails was fun to look at. The food was nice and like any italian didn't take long to be served.
It is better to make a reservation, it might be full in the weekends.
It was lovely, staff were friendly. The place itself was very fascinating. Its the kind of thing you'd imagine a character in a book wouod stumble upon. Delicious food and great coctails.
Great food, great staff and a good time had by all! Great place for birthday celebrations!
Having heard so much about this place I was really excited to try it out and it definitely didn’t disappoint in the slightest. It’s a hidden gem and from the minute the secret door opened, the whole experience was magical. The food, service, the cocktails and atmosphere were nothing short of amazing and I have already recommended to friends and family and will continue to do so!
The cocktails here are out of this world and when you find the speak easy bar it is truly special. A hidden gem on Dublin!
Excellent spot, literally hidden away! Very friendly, good food and great atmosphere!
Sssshhh! Best kept secret! A really lovely restaurant with gorgeous food & great waiter service. As for the cocktails....so delicious!
Bar men were really nice and recommended drinks based on our likes.
Best dinner, ambiance and service! Paul was amazing host!! Will be back!
Having made my booking on January 16th for Saturday February 3rd at 6.30pm. I received a call from the restaurant 5 hours prior to our reservation to state the table wasn't available but they had an one for 5pm. Reluctantly, I agreed to the changed time.
Upon arrival I enjoyed the quirky entrance, a very nice staff member took our order for drinks and main course. Both of which were satisfactory. We ordered desert and as my friend was still finishing when a make staff member asked "were you not told we needed the table back at 6.30pm". My friend asked for extra cream to finish her desert and it was delivered to the table. We now knew we had overstayed our welcome. I was unable to reply as I thought this was a absurd, 1 and a half hours for what had been relaxing and enjoyable became quite the opposite. We finished paid and left. Would not recommend, my impression is the business model is turn over tables quickly for highest return. Very disappointed.
Absolutley amazing suggestion from a family friend to visit this place whilst in Dublin! You experience the quirkiness and uniqueness of this small restaurant from the get go by having to venture into a different Italian restaurant located on one of the inner city streets. Make your way down the stairs under the sign that says ‘shhhhh’ as if your going to the toilets for the Italian restaurant and infront of you is what appears to be just an average bookcase.... HOWEVER... click the picture of Coleman’s Mustard on the left hand side wall and all will be revealed!! The doors slide open to reveal the great atmosphere of the best hideaway in Dublin! We were seated by an extremely polite gentleman who took care of us for the entire night and made our experience at The Blind Pig very personable! He explained the lighthearted and amusing house rules, the current cocktail menu and ‘The Bible’. Should you not like any cocktail on the current menu, ask for The Bible, it’s an extremely thorough cocktail menu of every cocktail they have ever made/ designed, and you could also do a bit of light reading should you wish to (You will see what I mean once you visit). Once we received our 1st cocktails, myself and my partner ordered our food which didn’t take too long to come due to the entire restaurant only being able to hold 7 or 8 tables due to its small size (MAKE SURE TO BOOK IN ADVANCE) and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The food was outstanding!! My partner had Duck Leg Confit and I had a Chicken Sweker. For two starters, two mains and two cocktails each, our bill came to around €90, which I believe to be fantastic as it’s not just the food you pay for, it’s the atmosphere, uniqueness and entire dining experience as a whole! Would 1000% recommend this a a go to spot for tourists visiting Dublin. We visited 02-02-2018.
Really lovely atmosphere, great menu and extremely friendly staff! Had a lovely meal and will definitely be returning sooner rather than later!
A very cool place that has a lot of appeal through it's unique atmosphere and speakeasy side - so fun to need a password and special instructions to get inside!
All perfect, we loved the ambience and the food, also the drinks, congratulations
So the service was strange- they were quite attentive to the tables around us but kept passing us by! When they did come to us they were quite nice however. The meat and cheese plate starter was lovely, my friend and I both enjoyed it. Her di
This secret venue is a great find for a casual night out with a loved one or friends. Very authentic menu and ambiance. Great staff, cocktails and food. Highly reccommended.
The atmosphere was good on the nights we were here. Cocktails are very good - especially the Bon Bon and the food very good too. But beware, like a lot of places the servers seem to lose interest once the mains are delivered so if you are leisurely enjoying your drink and contemplating a nightcap cocktail or a sweet treat to round off the night you might not get a chance to have one because you will only be given around 2 - 2.5 hours at your table and no more - seemingly, whether there is another reservation or not. On two occasions we were told fairly unceremoniously that we had to vacate our table with no real notice cutting off the possibility of dessert on both evenings.
I have no problem paying what are fairly high prices for a great meal in a great place - but unfortunately I can't rave about this place because the two evenings ended in a way that left rather a bitter taste in the mouth. Not sure I will be back.
Cosy little bar with live music. We found the sound to be so high that we had trouble hearing each other speak, and in an intimate setting that was a bit of a letdown. We had to wait for a bit too long to order, and quite frankly I wasn't too happy with my drink for such a bar. Cool concept lacks a bit of the rest.
Thanks for a great evening. Everything from finding the place etc was brilliant. The food was lovely and so were the staff. Would recommend to everyone to visit. The extra wine and cocktails lists were fun to.
