I understand that Mothers Day is busy but as we pre-ordered food, I would not expect 1.5 hrs between courses. We kept been told it would be another 10 mins and this continued for 50 minutes. Finally when the food arrived our lamb (pre-ordered) had turned into Chicken (no explanation) and was suppose to be Chicken Confeit but was just a dried up piece of breast. I think if you are going for a drink and burger then this is OK place to visit with friendly staff otherwise I would avoid.

The front of house staff were excellent and did their best to save a Mother’s Day lunch where the kitchen was clearly overwhelmed. Service was very slow. The main course was sent back twice for being cold and on the third attempt, overcooked the meat and vegetables to a point they were inedible. The starters and dessert were ok and the management and supervisor could not have been more apologetic and made the necessary amendments to the bill. Such a shame for a special occasion.

Probably the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had. - beef was a tough as leather - chicken breast was dry and crumbled as you cut it - cauliflower cheese had no cheese in it - asked for a gluten free roast and it came with a normal Yorkshire pudding! - yorkshire puddings were like rocks - we pre ordered food and they didn’t have any lamb and got orders wrong when we pre ordered! - the service was terrible, food came and we had a long wait for cutlery - started clearing tables when half of us were still eating - would only do one drink order at a time - long wait for truly dreadful food - booked a table for 10 people and they have us a table for 7! The pub was very dog friendly and they got to eat a lot of leftovers and the fire was nice.

I made a booking at The Castle Inn for Mother’s Day. They charged a £40 deposit. Then they tried to charge me the deposit again. Then they forgot to deduct the deposit from the final bill. Then they charged us for five set meals when we had only three. But at least the food was OK.

Popped in for a Sunday Roast having seen rave reviews. In good spirits, so when the first course arrived cold we did not complain. As we didn’t want to spoil the day. Then the main arrived, again cold with cauliflower arriving 15 minutes later. This time stone cold without having seen the sight of an oven or grill. We got to witness the cook and owner having words in the centre of the pub. And we decided to call it a day without making any fuss. Waitress told us she’d only been a there a few days. And the cook too, but with the exception of the waitress the staff were miserable. It clearly wasn’t a good day. Waitress told us she’d take £7.50 off the price of the dining, not sure how she figured that out, but we just wanted to get the hell out of there and didn’t care. Then the owner came and told us he was sorry the food didn’t meet our standards, as if we were to blame for uncooked food being bought to the table. Perhaps just teething troubles with new staff, but I’d give the place a wide birth until you starting seeing some recent good reviews.

Really nice place, good staff and good quality food. Bit of a shame about the roast portions - very small, I only had one carrot slice and one parsnip slice & we were both hungry afterwards

Lovely atmosphere and cosy setting. Staff were polite & helpful. Service in between courses was quite slow. Roast beef was very tough and chicken thighs were over cooked and stale- like they had been sat there all day. Starters & desert was lovely.

We had the Roast on Sunday. The lamb was all fat litttle meat, the Yorkshire puts were appalling and doughy. The room was freezing. Gravy was good but that was about it

Just fancied a change from a Friday night take out and a chance to get out the house. Booked a table very easily and arrived to enjoy a lovely, quality meal. It felt as though we were dining with friends with great service and lovely ambience. Will be making this a regular treat

I looked at the reviews for the castle and they were really good, when we got there it’s was pretty full which is a good sign, the staff were very good, very nice and done there jobs very well, unfortunately thats all the good things I can say about this place we had to wait for an hour and 20 mins for our food, we had to young children with us and to try and keep them sitting for that long without food is a challenge. The food eventually arrived and it’s was possible the worst thing I’d ever tasted the beef was like an old boot and everything had a burnt taste to it, to describe it it would be like licking an full cigarette ashtray. This place had Potential unfortunately will never find out what that potential is because I will never be going back there

We've been visiting The Castle for years and one of its main attractions is it's cosy atmosphere. The current owners have introduced events such as barbecues during the summer months, themed evenings such as their curry/Thali nights, Ladies night, etc. The menus changes with the seasons and the food served is generally very good. Nice cask ales to complement the food, and very pleasant and friendly staff make The Castle well worth a visit. Finally, it's vitally important to support local businesses, especially pubs, so please drop by for a swift drink or a bite to eat.

Another excellent meal at The Castle. Always a good atmosphere, the manager is a lovely lady nothing to much trouble. The young girl waiting on tables could do with smiling more but maybe she is shy.

Food was absolutely lovely. Plenty of veg and cauli cheese to die for. Staff were very pleasant and eager to serve. We went at midday on Sunday which was a perfect time.

I never went inside the restaurant because the weather was perfect for patio seating. The food was spectacular and the service was even better. I wish I could remember the name of the girl who served us, she was friendly, efficient and a lot of fun. We will definitely come back because of her.

The restaurant was not busy when we ate there so noise level was low. We ordered the fish bisque which was excellent and very tasty. Ice Cream Dessert was also good. Service very pleasant and bill reasonable at end.

Attended Tue for curry night. Great food great service with a good description of the menu. Well done. Only thing I would change is Ice cream with the cookie and not sure about the soup with the main course and maybe chutneys with the Papadums

Our main course was only just warm but we did not complain as very tasty. However, dessert was also not warm and when taken back to the kitchen was returned to my husband with a hair in it. No apology was offered at this stage. It was a real shame as the food was lovely
