Our food menu is British comfort food with a fantastical, interactive twist.
Please note reservations are for dining only. Outside seating is first come, first served. Reservations for the Experience can be made through our website.
Horrible experience had a reservation for Wednesday Nov 27 at 7:15, made months in advance and when we get there the restaurant was closed. We checked both sides and nothing...nobody was answering and the Instagram was linked to an international number and I called it they just said hello and didn't answer after that. Horrible service wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
SUCH a cool experience. The food is astonishingly good for pub food, there are some great vegetarian options, and the cocktails are simply fabulous. I went on a Saturday for my birthday and didn't realize just how narrow the place is when I made the reservation. If you have a large party, it will likely have to be split up, but there is a section towards one end of the pub where the stairs are that can accomodate a few tables, so we sort of took over that section. The staff was super busy but friendly and receptive to questions. The Tree tap was so cool, and there was a screen near the bar where you could easily check your balance (important because its all too easy to overuse your wand...). We took the cocktail class upstairs before dinner, and it was spectacular. I recommend this place highly, but be prepared to spend a lot of money, and be prepared to shout. It's super loud in there, and the drinks are on par with Manhattan prices (which are generally high).
I booked a table three weeks in advance but, when I got to the restaurant, there wasn’t a proper table for my party around the time I had booked and we sat outside in the cold waiting. Eventually my party of 4 was seated at a table meant comfortably for 2, uncomfortably for 3. I had to use the windowsill as an extension of our table. Our waiter was very nice though. He gave us all a free shot each for the inconvenience. However, the bun of my burger was tough, my friend’s cauliflower was soggy, and my sister’s dessert was burned. While I love the theme, the value of booking a reservation in advance is really low because they don’t seem to manage their seating well. I actually spent less money on drinks because of the issues. Maybe just go impromptu at happy hour and get proper fries and the special priced drinks. Don’t make it your main event for an evening. They don’t really make it worth that.
The drinks were disgusting and overpriced. I ordered about 4 different drinks but none were a success. The food was okay. The only thing that made up for this is that the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming.
The Cauldron was the perfect Halloween dinner experience - great decoration, “magical” potions that double as delicious drinks, and an awesome staff. We will definitely be back!
This is a fantastic venue for a special night out with something different you can’t find anywhere else in NY. If you are a fan of mystical and magical things make sure you go!
For our family of four, great fun all around. The atmosphere and flare were great, the staff was very friendly and seemed to be having a good time as well.
magical food, magical drinks, atmosphere
no kids menu means we probably can't go back until next year sometime - just not practical for families to pay $25-30 for a kids entrée unless its a special night out.
Desserts. The white chocolate mousse is lackluster at best, save your money. The toffee pudding is tasty, but a teeny tiny scoop of ice cream on top is ridiculous. The dessert is too dry by the time you get to the bottom, and you miss those first tasty bites.
By far one of my favorite places I have ever been- from the decorations to the amazing and friendly staff to the beyond amazing food; will definitely be coming back!
Amazing drinks . Great service. Must try the class next. Had a wonderful time !
We did the potions making class and had dinner afterward. It was great! The truffle fries are awesome.
Our server, Sharky, was so much fun! Me and my party loved being called "Magical Beings" every time he came and talked to us. The restaurant ambience is SO much fun.
Food was tasty. NYC prices. Was hoping for a little bit more wizarding décor in the restaurant especially with Halloween in 2 weeks. Specialty presentations were fun (firey cauliflower; fish and chips on smoking river rocks), but modest portion size.
Cool drinks, disappointed by the food and dessert. Mystical vibe interrupted by the 80s music and raucous chatter.
Not what I thought it would be. A half trying
Yes, a very unique experience that would be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys the mystical.
Awesome experience and drinks the food was just ok
we made a reservation with OpenTable and even responded positively to an email confirming the day before. Upon arrival we were told they were not excepting reservations but we could sit at the bar. Unfortunate as I have been there once before and it was a pleasant experience.
Nice place for lunch/dinner
We did the potion class for my husband's birthday and then had dinner downstairs and are entire experience was phenomenal. We couldn't stop raving about the potion class and how much fun we had. The staff was amazing and made the whole experience that much better. We will definitely be back and bringing more people 😊
I had a friend in town who loves British fare and this was right by where we were meeting so I chose this place for dinner. We shared the cheesy chips which were very good. We both ordered the cottage pie which came w/ mushy peas. Also, very good. We ended the night sharing their sticky toffee pudding and I think it was called 3 Witches drink? The sticky toffee pudding seemed a little burnt and the drink seemed overpriced for what it was. $38.00! We did like how it all came in cast iron cauldrons. I wish I had known it was Drag Bingo night. It was loud and it wasn't great for conversation. It actually both gave us a headache. Had it not been Drag Bingo, we would have probably had another cocktail.
Please amp up the magic. We came from Vancouver BC hoping to see something spectacular. We had to ask about the merchandise, not very prominent. "Owl jars" weren't displayed, "broom pens" were not displayed. It would be nice to have more on theme music playing. Magic themed food. Look at "the storm crow" in Vancouver for reference.
We spent over $200 at the cauldron but could have spent more. Disappointed, bit would go back for a potion class.
Amazing experience for Harry Potter fans!!!!!!
We tried the pub before going upstairs for the potions making class. The speciality drinks were not great. I couldn't even finish mine and was never asked if I wanted something else. Most places will also comp you for something you didn't finish/enjoy but they did not. It would definitely be better if the pub could have similar drinks to the class upstairs.
Everything was magically perfect! You NEED one in Minneapolis Minnesota please!!!
Awesome experience, host was amazing and attentive, the server was a bit all over the place and not around at long periods of times, but she was friendly. Our appetizer came after the meal, but it is a bar after all so I wasn’t upset about it all. It was a busy night as well. Will definitely go back.
Great for people who love to socialize, craft their own drinks, love fantasy fiction, and are creative. I took my fiancee here for her birthday and she enjoyed herself (she is a Harry Potter fan). I admit that I found myself liking it as well and the food was better than I originally thought.
Reserved a table and the potions class last Saturday night for dinner and an interactive cocktail making journey. Night 2 of my birthday weekend and couldn't be happier with the experience! Sharkey tended to our dining needs and was very attentive in delivering superior customer service. :) He was awesome to interact with throughout the night. Food was delicious and fair priced. After dinner, we went to our potions class upstairs and met some wild New Yorkers who were very much into the magical worlds of fantasy. Creating our own cocktails with magic wands was exciting and something I won't soon forget. Ended the evening with drinks downstairs at the bar where Mike R crafted some enchanting looking cocktails and treated us very well. I'll definitely have to come back the next time I'm in New York. :) Thank you all so much!
It was a fin place to have dinner before doing the cocktail experience, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there otherwise. Food was ok, the "proper chips" were a bit cold and rubbery, but it was pretty typical pub food.
We went here after our Potion experience upstairs. The food was good but I expected a steak from the NY Strip steak and got slices of steak. Eh!! We had an appetizer elven bread that was awesome and something right out of Lord of the Rings. Since we did the potion experience we didn't get any drinks but the people around us ordered drinks and they looked great. We will be back to try some deserts and some burgers along with the beer that comes out of a tree!!
One best places I’ve been in recent years! I could almost feel the Wizarding experience from all angles.
Super cool place! I’d recommend one of the smoking shots, or the fish and chips with smoking coals beneath them, and definitely be sure to play some Nintendo!
My friend from Florida, suggested the bar once she was able to visit and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was great, the drinks were fun, and it was a full experience. We would have loved to experience the potion class but, unfortunately, it was booked for the following two weeks. Otherwise, the staff, food, and drinks were all wonderful.
Great visit but food prices seemed a bit high.
Drinks were great.
My fiancé and I love the cauldron we first went for the pop up potions last year and love that it has grown into a full on bar/resultant and the potions classes. It’s truly magical. You must try the pot of tea off the bar menu!
Amazing!! Ridiculously loud since the dining room isn’t separated from the bar, but everyone was having a grand old time, so you couldn’t blame them.
Great ambiance! Very good food! The white chocolate mousse with fresh berries was scrumptious. Loved every minute.
Great experience overall and got a free birthday drink !
I had the best experience! The hostess was amazing, the servers were fantastic. My potions were delicious and the food was delightful! I would go back with friends to try the tree of life!
