The Cauldron Pub
Our food menu is British comfort food with a fantastical, interactive twist.
Please note reservations are for dining only. Outside seating is first come, first served. Reservations for the Experience can be made through our website.
Not what I thought it would be. A half trying
Yes, a very unique experience that would be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys the mystical.
Awesome experience and drinks the food was just ok
we made a reservation with OpenTable and even responded positively to an email confirming the day before. Upon arrival we were told they were not excepting reservations but we could sit at the bar. Unfortunate as I have been there once before and it was a pleasant experience.
Nice place for lunch/dinner
We did the potion class for my husband's birthday and then had dinner downstairs and are entire experience was phenomenal. We couldn't stop raving about the potion class and how much fun we had. The staff was amazing and made the whole experience that much better. We will definitely be back and bringing more people 😊
I had a friend in town who loves British fare and this was right by where we were meeting so I chose this place for dinner. We shared the cheesy chips which were very good. We both ordered the cottage pie which came w/ mushy peas. Also, very good. We ended the night sharing their sticky toffee pudding and I think it was called 3 Witches drink? The sticky toffee pudding seemed a little burnt and the drink seemed overpriced for what it was. $38.00! We did like how it all came in cast iron cauldrons. I wish I had known it was Drag Bingo night. It was loud and it wasn't great for conversation. It actually both gave us a headache. Had it not been Drag Bingo, we would have probably had another cocktail.
Please amp up the magic. We came from Vancouver BC hoping to see something spectacular. We had to ask about the merchandise, not very prominent. "Owl jars" weren't displayed, "broom pens" were not displayed. It would be nice to have more on theme music playing. Magic themed food. Look at "the storm crow" in Vancouver for reference.
We spent over $200 at the cauldron but could have spent more. Disappointed, bit would go back for a potion class.
We tried the pub before going upstairs for the potions making class. The speciality drinks were not great. I couldn't even finish mine and was never asked if I wanted something else. Most places will also comp you for something you didn't finish/enjoy but they did not. It would definitely be better if the pub could have similar drinks to the class upstairs.
Everything was magically perfect! You NEED one in Minneapolis Minnesota please!!!
Awesome experience, host was amazing and attentive, the server was a bit all over the place and not around at long periods of times, but she was friendly. Our appetizer came after the meal, but it is a bar after all so I wasn’t upset about it all. It was a busy night as well. Will definitely go back.
Great for people who love to socialize, craft their own drinks, love fantasy fiction, and are creative. I took my fiancee here for her birthday and she enjoyed herself (she is a Harry Potter fan). I admit that I found myself liking it as well and the food was better than I originally thought.
Reserved a table and the potions class last Saturday night for dinner and an interactive cocktail making journey. Night 2 of my birthday weekend and couldn't be happier with the experience! Sharkey tended to our dining needs and was very attentive in delivering superior customer service. :) He was awesome to interact with throughout the night. Food was delicious and fair priced. After dinner, we went to our potions class upstairs and met some wild New Yorkers who were very much into the magical worlds of fantasy. Creating our own cocktails with magic wands was exciting and something I won't soon forget. Ended the evening with drinks downstairs at the bar where Mike R crafted some enchanting looking cocktails and treated us very well. I'll definitely have to come back the next time I'm in New York. :) Thank you all so much!
It was a fin place to have dinner before doing the cocktail experience, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there otherwise. Food was ok, the "proper chips" were a bit cold and rubbery, but it was pretty typical pub food.
One best places I’ve been in recent years! I could almost feel the Wizarding experience from all angles.
Super cool place! I’d recommend one of the smoking shots, or the fish and chips with smoking coals beneath them, and definitely be sure to play some Nintendo!
My friend from Florida, suggested the bar once she was able to visit and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was great, the drinks were fun, and it was a full experience. We would have loved to experience the potion class but, unfortunately, it was booked for the following two weeks. Otherwise, the staff, food, and drinks were all wonderful.
Great visit but food prices seemed a bit high.
Drinks were great.
My fiancé and I love the cauldron we first went for the pop up potions last year and love that it has grown into a full on bar/resultant and the potions classes. It’s truly magical. You must try the pot of tea off the bar menu!
Amazing!! Ridiculously loud since the dining room isn’t separated from the bar, but everyone was having a grand old time, so you couldn’t blame them.
Great ambiance! Very good food! The white chocolate mousse with fresh berries was scrumptious. Loved every minute.
Great experience overall and got a free birthday drink !
I had the best experience! The hostess was amazing, the servers were fantastic. My potions were delicious and the food was delightful! I would go back with friends to try the tree of life!
Really fun experience. Food is slightly pricey for the quality but to be expected for the fun atmosphere. Would go again!
Three of us went for dinner. I don’t think it’s worth a trip all the way down town for dinner. I do plan to go back to take the potions class.
Food was good service was great downstairs
Fun night drinks you made not so good
This is basically a dive bar where they slapped the Harry Potter name. Nothing particularly special. The service is not good. I came here for a bday and they brought a dessert without a candle and I was very unimpressed by everything.
Our server Sharky & the manager were very attentive and exemplified great customer service.
Lovely warm evening so sat outside and soaked up the atmosphere. We initially felt awkward as we had our 8 year old with us (on hols) but the staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Great food, great drinks selection and lovely service. We are going back tonight!
This pub is more for the experience then the food. I got the fish and chips and they were very magical and yummy, but my boyfriend's burger was nothing special. They had very few options for vegans and even less for gluten free/dairy free which my boyfriend is. Typical prices for a NYC restaurant. There was very few people in the pub when we went on a Sunday night. The best part was the Potions Experience upstairs where you can mix your own drinks in a "potions class" (extra charge & reservations needed).
It is nice to experience once especially Harry Potter fans. The magic experience was fun, but would recommend different drink options not all acidic and sugary. Also think there should be a better food menu option was disappointed with the menu.
The Cauldron Pub was truly a magical experience. We went during an off hour - 12:30-3pm on a Friday. We got to chatting with the bartender who was amazingly helpful in explaining all the drinks and the "magic" involved in the potions and food. Even the beer came out of the "Tree of Life". For a harry potter/Fantasy nerd, this place felt like home, and that feeling was reciprocated by several other patrons that we talked to. Though its clearly a themed bar, it did not feel tacky or overtly "Harry Potter" in any way.
I would highly recommend this pub for a magical adventure.
I reserved a table for 3 on a Wednesday night, for dinner only - not the potions class "magical experience."
Food was ok, if a bit overpriced. We tried the elven bread appetizer, which had an oddly soft, dense texture that wasn't very appealing, and came with a lavender yogurt spread, which was nice.
For entrees we all went for the fish and chips. A few items on the menu were marked "magical," and this was one of them - it came over a bed of dry smoke which dissipated pretty quickly and then made the dish a little awkward to eat because the plate was raised. Chips were very good - short-cut steak fries with just the right amount of crisp. The malt dipping sauce and tartar sauce were also tasty. The fish was ok - nice and flaky, but very greasy. Our stomachs did not feel great for the rest of the night because it was so heavy.
We tried the cup of tea and the damiana's charm - both good and balanced, but small and probably not worth 14 bucks.
Atmosphere and service:
It's a dark pub, with a few vaguely magical-themed items scattered about. On a Wednesday, there was a guy playing Wonderwall and the like on acoustic guitar at the front, which kind of detracted from the "magical" feel. Service was good - all of our servers were friendly.
It was a cute, vaguely-magical themed place with decent yet overpriced food and cocktails. If I were to go back, I would do so only to check out the potions-making magical experience, which I assume might make it worth it. For the restaurant alone, I can't say I'd go back again.
What a wonderful place to eat! It was by far the favorite restaurant we visited while in NYC. We are in agreement that the lamb hamburger was the best burger we have ever eaten. Surprisingly, it was the most affordable restaurant we ate at during our trip. We are HP, GOT, and LOTR fans, which made the experience even better, but it’s definitely not a requirement to enjoy. Can’t wait to go back!
The food was pretty good. Everything was tasty and well-seasoned, but I could’ve done with more variety on the menu. Also, the prices were pretty high for what we got. My problem was the service. There aren’t that many tables and there were three servers who all just stood at the hostess stand talking while all the tables went unattended. We waited about 20 minutes after we were done eating before we ever saw our server again. Also, the music was so loud we could barely converse at the table.
The food was delicious, the drinks were delightful, the service was excellent, and the experience of magic as part of dining/drinking was everything we’d hoped for. We’re definitely coming back here!
The beer tree was very cool and the death shots were delicious and super affordable during happy hour. The servers were so much fun and extremely nice. I can’t wait to go back!
Great little spot if you're a fan of Harry Potter and other fantasy novels. Really fun decor and the cocktails are so well done. Food was standard, nothing too special, and the servers were really friendly.
