Great food, and if nothing on the wine list takes your fancy, just ask & you can also choose from the much more extensive list from the Wine Room next door.
Service was very pleasant & knowledgeable however either they were short staffed or just unobservant, as were left for long periods without service.
One thing to note is that the noise levels made it difficult for our group of 4 to hear each other across the table.
I've been to the Dolphin Hotel on many occasions and always had a great time! The food, wine and service have always been very good, everyone on my table loved what they ordered. The Dolphin have now introduced Aperitivo from 5-7 Sunday through Thursday and it's a great addition to the offering. Already can't wait to go back!
What an easy night out - great food, airy, beachy setting in the restaurant, fantastic service and excellent atmosphere. The bar was really noisy but not much you can do about that at 7pm on a Friday night. So given we were catching up with friends getting to the restaurant at 8.15pm was a relief as we could chat properly. Will definitely be back.
The ambience was nice if only it was less noisy. I could not hold a conversation with my partner without constantly repeating myself.
The food was average so was the service.
Wouldn't recommend it for a date but as a group of friends i think this would be more enjoyable.
The service from out Waitress was awesome, she had great banter with us and was very attentive.
I always have a fabulous experience. Thank you. We will be back.
Great staff, special made meal, delicious food. Followed the meal up with some drinks in the front bar.
Excellent service staff. Menu was really interesting, different and varied. Food well presented and delicious. Noise level got very high as the lunchtime crowd filled the tables, hence everyone has to speak louder to be heard -- snowball effect. Only gripe because it was a very enjoyable lunch. The hotpudding was scrumptious.
The food was average and service was borderline poor. We understand that we had to vacate the table by 8.15 but the lady that served us was rushing us through all our meals. The space between us and the next table was very small and the waitress kept sliding past it to serve the other table and we had to keep holding on to our plates etc as she could have knocked them over. Overall, not a very nice experience, will not be coming back anytime soon
had a great night at The Dolphin! had a group of 6 - and everyone at the table had a great time - from the service through to the food and drink :)
Great food with great service, would highly recommend!
Came here for a catch up lunch. Did not disappoint food wise. We had the procuttio with melon, the vege pizza and a fries. Pizza was definitely up there with one of the best, so flavoursome! Finished up with an espresso martini- they use cold pressed coffee. It was served in a small thin jar which I guess it their point of difference but I still prefer it in a martini glass. Service was attentive without being over the top.
The perfect location for a get-together with the gang. Good food, great atmosphere and very friendly, informative staff.
Disappointing. The noise from patrons and music was VERY intrusive. Dining area overcrowd with tables, barely 30cms (12 inches) between tables. My partner and I were almost touching foreheads when talking. Food over rated and over priced. I ordered spaghetti with blue swimmer crab… I think there was one small piece on top but that was it. No flavour apart from diced tomatoes which I'm guessing came out of a can. My partner had a risotto. The portion was extremely small, barely an ice cream scoop full. The waiter… what can I say, arrogant and wearing oversized black horn rimmed glasses. When my partner queried his entree, the waiter responded with… "if you'd asked I could have told you"…
Bring back the old Dolphin pub please.
Food was beautiful service wasn't overly attentive but polite.
The cocktails in the mini wine glasses were very expensive $20 and they were full of ice!
Wonderful food and very helpful with children
Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, will be back. ...............................................
Menu is super limited especially for healthy options. Was there with two pregnant ladies and had to chase down wait staff to order, it was t that busy but when they did come they each seemed to reiterate we only had the table for 2 hours. Slow service meant we were rushing at the end. Overrated in every way.
Food mixed - good oysters, calamari, pizza, risotto but nothing particularly unique or memorable.
Decor - dining room fun but bathrooms just not nice - feel unclean washing hands with paint drips (deliberate) all over the sink - ditto the toilet.
Service - unfriendly, unhelpful and definitely below average for this price range. Two requests to one waitress were completely ignored as she went back to reception to chat with 3 other staff.
Had a fab time food was great , wanted to see this place after being in da Maria in Seminyak , and it did not dissapoint
With it's warehouse-style architecture, open kitchen and bohemian décor, this hip and trendy restaurant is where the beautiful people lunch. We had the very delicious burrata and afghan bread to start, and shared a couple pizzas and salad for lunch. All very yummy. I love the small details like the cocktail-style straws in the drinks. A very enjoyable experience.
Great fun Sydney place to be. Great energy with very tasty Italian food. With wine list was very good with something for everyone. Only problem is that is quite a noise place. That said we adapted to that energy and really enjoyed our evening
Way too noisy....
The Dolphin is not a cheap option these days but the food is well conceived and tasty and the service is attentive. It has a great look and feel, making it a good choice for those looking for somewhere for a special occasion
This place was great. Top set up, excellent friendly and informed staff. Lots of fun. Will come again
Dining out can be tricky for me due to a severe sulphite allergy. I was assured by staff that several sulphite free wines were available. I consumed 2 glasses over the course of dinner. The following day I have woken with a severe reaction-migraine, flu like symptoms etc. I am appalled that the staff made so light of a known medical condition.
Additionally, service was brash and utterly disorganised. A disappointment on many fronts.
Love the food — we ordered the afghan bread + burrata for starters while waiting for the other half of the group. We ordered 2 pizzas — one with the king prawns and one with salumi — and the spaghetti with blue swimmer crab and the bolongese. Seems quite traditional for Italian food but the quality and the taste was amazing! Nothing better than doing the basics really well.
Restaurant staff very good and curteous. The bar staff were rude sexist and agist and frankly spoilt mine and my sisters experience. Can the bar staff have a clue to ask "who's next" it's a no brainer and bog basic skills to serve in a bar. My money has the same value as anyone else's and it would be good if you could remind those staff behind the bar.. that will bring your business down
Love the Dolphin, the quality of food and staff is very high. We booked for 6:15, and were told that the next sitting would be at 8:15. We never felt under pressure to finish our meal, the wait staff were friendly and professional, the meals were delicious and varied, the decor is slightly bonkers, but that's part of the charm!
Love the place. Is now part of our "regular haunts"
thought the food and atmosphere was great. My only concern is the delay to get our wine order that took at least 10 minutes to arrive - and upon following up with the service staff that took our order, we were told you had run out of the wine we selected but we weren't advised. Otherwise good atmosphere, good food and other than the wine issue, service was great.
Having been to, and enjoying, the Dolphin previously, I was keen to share with my friends. The food and service were great, but on this (Thursday) night, the music was way too loud to talk and listen... mores suited to a nightclub than a Business catch-up
We had a last minute extra person to add to our booking and the venue accommodated us by moving us to the small outdoor area. Worked out for the best as we had more space, it was a nice day to be outside and it wasn't as noisy as inside. Service and food was fantastic. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Dolphin, especially for small groups.
We loved this place. The food was fantastic and the service was seriously the best I've had in years. I wish I had noted our server's name. She had the perfect balance of friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We felt really welcome and valued as customers.
The selection of food was perfect. Everything from beautiful pizzas to delicious main courses. Between four we had two desserts and they were every bit as good as the rest of the meal.
We'll definitely be back.
Disappointing dinner. This was my 2nd visit to the newly refurbed hotel. The first time it was just OK but this time the experience was pretty awful. We had the worst waitress I have had in at least the last 5 years of dining out. She made it very clear anything we asked for was an imposition and no amount of smiling at her was going to stop her scowling at us. We had to hound her to refill or water glasses, she somehow "forgot" to put in the order for my mail meal.
Such a treat to have really delicious food that was so fresh and imaginative. My third visit and not my last. Staff are terrific and attentive. A bit too noisy and tables too close together for my liking but I've come to simply accept that as normal in Sydney.
Great space. Love the decor. Food was exceptional and not over priced. Can't wait to go back!
Place was really busy on Saturday night but the staff were very attentive and we weren't left waiting for service at any point. However the decor is a bit odd, looks quite DIY, not really somewhere I'd want to spend too much time. Food is a little over-priced as was the wine list.
Great place for a meal or just a drink. Interesting menu and great atmosphere
We dined here for the second time last night. Got there early and we're seated. No one seemed in charge of our table, and we had trouble getting water - had to ask more than once. Suddenly a waitress appeared and was still putting on her apron. From then on it was rush rush rush - table booked for 6.15, gotta leave by 7.45pm. If your idea of fun is being rushed through like cattle, this place will suit you. Food was great, noise levels high, but too little care for the customer experience for me
