Nice and quiet for a pleasurable business lunch.
The food at Ellington is quite good. I had the cobb salad and it was terrific. We shared the calamari and an order of truffle oil and parmesan french fries...also very good and clearly freshly made, not frozen. However, the service was not good. All of the food came at once, including the appetizers. Shortly after we were served, my daughter unexpectantly joined us for dinner. They were very quick at accommodating her with a chair at our 4 person table, but she never received her order of cobb salad, although we waited well over 35 minutes longer after the rest of us had eaten our food, and despite the fact that we reminded them several times. Finally, we asked for the check, and the 2nd cobb salad had been added to the bill. My husband asked that it be removed, and the manager came over to me (not my husband) and asked if we hadn't ordered 2 cobb salads. When I told him that my daughter never received her order, the salad showed up as a "to go" order for her. Rather than be apologetic, and even offering a comp of the 2nd salad or a reduction on the bill, my husband was presented with a bill with both salads on it. Food is good....management NOT SO MUCH.
Very cute and cozy! Nice wine, food was not the best
Food and service was amazing. We were a party of 7 and our table was ready and our food was delicious.
Delicious food, reasonably priced, good service. Definitely will recommend to friends and family
Nice place for the family to eat especially if you have young children and the staff is very polite. Appetizers are excellent
Food was fine. Had a few different egg choices on the menu. I got the smoked salmon florentine, which was supposed to be with the waffle potato, but they served me it with english muffins and a cold serving of breakfast potatoes. I didn't realize until later that they served me the wrong thing. The eggs and spinach with the smoked salmon were tasty. The restaurant wasn't too loud, which made it easy to have a nice conversation. Wouldn't rush back. A decent meal at a fairly decent price!
This was great
We enjoyed a really nice brunch thinking about the Duke!
And the Bloody Mary was super!!!
Great brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Had the avocado, bacon, lettuce and tomatoes with poached egg. Delicious!!!
Highly recommend this place after a visit to St John the Divine.
It is a nice family restaurant. Very cozy and convenient. The staff make it! Such a neighborhood vibe. Wait staff get to know you and are lovely. Make it worth it. Mac and cheese was excellent. Mini burgers one should specify desired doneness. My kid ordered them and it was assumed well done. They were inedible, really. And it is not cheap for what it is. I still say go. Lots of excellent options. Fish and chips if you don’t mind fried.
A wonderful option for sunday brunch, though we noticed too late that the brunch specials were not advertised on our table.
Very good food and nice service
I wrote a review a few months ago because I was so disappointed with the service and Ellington had really lost it’s personal touch. Well it seems like they got their groove back. The waiter that served us in the past 3 times was not there, TG! The young waitress and gentleman who have been there for years were awesome. Didn’t miss a beat.
Great food and great experkence. So glad I made a reservation, as we just missed a rush. It was the first nice day of the year so we got to sit outside, and the staff didn’t mind when we asked to move because the sun was bright. Our waiter, Matt, was friendly, professional and accommodating. I will definitely visit again as it is close to school and where friends live.
Great service, tasty food! Brunch menu had a good combination of both brunch and lunch options.
They did not have my name or open table reservation. I would like to make sure I get credit for it.
Wonderful service and great for groups or dates. The food was so delish! This is a new favorite for my list.
This is a quiet restaurant ideal for a friendly get together. Very good food.
The Ellington was a very pleasant surprise. My cousin and I have now decided it will be our go to meeting place especially for an early brunch. The staff was very attentive and the food good. Nothing elaborate but well done. My cousin commented on how nice and clean the Ladies Room was.
Horrific service, mold in the water bottle, mediocre food
Could have been a bit cleaner
The happy hour oysters were great, but both the fish and chips in the Fish and Chips were undercooked. Our waitress was pretty helpful with coming up with a tasty mocktail.
I’ve been coming to Ellington since it opened. It’s a “go to”for my family but in the past 4 or 5 months the service has gone from slow to bad. For example we have ordered appetizers the last three times we were there. They have forgotten them each time and then they charged us for it. If they actually do remember them they will serve it with the entrees. Not to mention there has been an extensive wait in getting our food. It would be great while we were waiting to be offered another drink, but they failed to do that as well. Unfortunately, we have had the same waiter each time. He’s really bad. He has screwed up our bill multiple times. I hate to stop coming here but were getting better options in the neighborhood all the time. Bring back the old waiters please!
Food and service were very good. Nice relaxing atmosphere inside the place as well.
Love The Ellington. Our Go-to pub. The mac and cheese is outstanding, due to the creaminess and the truffle oil. Friendly helpful staff, and good homey food choices.
So glad we live close by.
How nice to find a friendly, affordable neighborhood place! Simple “pub” menu offered great options and happy hour drink prices. Very comfortable and welcoming with attentive service from staff. If you are in the St John the Divine/Columbia hood, go grab a bite.
Our thanksgiving meal was excellent! Attentive service, wonderful food, and a great atmosphere. Just what we were looking for.
We signed on for the full Thanksgiving menu, without any prior knowledge of The Ellington. It's a pub with sports on big tv's and has a very casual atmosphere. The regular menu is what you'd expect from a pub, but I can only review the meal we had - Thanksgiving. We started with crab cakes, nicely seasoned and with a spicy sauce. The main course was The Works - turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, Brussels sprouts, gravy. And YUM! Everything was well-prepared and delicious. (And enough leftovers to have another meal the following night. Just like Mom's!) For dessert, there was tiramisu or pumpkin pie, both okay. Service was friendly. A good time was had by all.
I made a reservation but when I arrived on time they seated us at a cramped table looking straight at the Men’s Room Door. The MGR was very apologetic and they took good care of us.
This place is great for lunch but dinner was so bland and in interesting
Went here for brunch as it's right in my neighborhood, their brunch was one of the most affordable options in the area. Everything was delicious, ingredients seemed high quality, and the dining room was comfortable but thoughtfully decorated. Would definitely go again!
We like The Ellington a lot as an easy neighborhood go to place that is very reasonable with good, reliable food. While it can get moderately noisy, the tables are far apart so that you have plenty of privacy.
Amazing food, fun environment and fantastic service!
Quaint place for a brunch or a tete a tete. The menu and food quality are solid. Nice also that the place has a bar to serve drinks as good complements to the brunch offerings.
Wonderful food. Wonderful service.
We had a good time and will return!
Great neighborhood place. A decent and solid brunch menu.
Try the spicy margarita .
We had been for brunch (and really enjoyed) and wanted to try it for dinner - glad we did! We had some great food (tried several of the appetizers including the grilled cheese bites and dumplings), salads and all were good. Also had the salmon entree, which was delicious. It is a casual setting with friendly service; outdoor tables too if the weather cooperates.
