   We booked a work lunch online and received confirmation plus a reminder email the day before our lunch. When we got to The G Hotel, they did not have our reservation and I was told by a very impatient waitress that I 'should have booked by phone like everybody else', that the online bookings don't come to them, when I tried to explain that I could not have known that she just shut me down and told me to book by phone next time. She then begrudgingly got us a table and barely spoke to us for the rest of our lunch. It might be a 5 star hotel but customer service is just about a 1!

   It was fine. The new lounges are pretty but there’s no wow factor now. And there wasn’t much of an atmosphere. There were very few people which was odd for a Saturday night. The tables are the right height now so it’s a lot easier to eat there, which is good. The service is the same old same old. We ordered food, had to ask for drinks menus, food arrived ten minutes in, no drinks yet. Everyone was polite but just not five star service (the g has been this way for many years). Food was average, asked for no pickles, it arrived with pickles. Food value was okay. Drinks extremely expensive. €18 to €20 for a cocktail is way overpriced. Ironically they probably could have got away with charging that before the renovation because at least there was a great atmosphere. I also found it odd that they’d spent €1 million on a refit but hadn’t painted (or even cleaned) the bathroom doors. Still no direction or anyone to greet you when you get out of the lift, the usual wandering around looking for someone to assist. The service has been sub-par for years but I hoped it would have improved with the refurb. 45 minutes in, we’d had two courses finished. It felt very rushed. Not what you’d expect from a five star hotel.

   Our server (I didn’t catch her name) was wonderful. She was so accommodating and went the extra mile. She got a balloon and small dessert plate for my boyfriends birthday which was so special. However, this was the only positive to our experience. I booked the Boujee Brunch (and called an hour before to make sure it was going on) but there was no DJ. The food was inedible - everything was over cooked or under cooked. Two other tables next to us sent back their food. There was also a waitress cleaning the bathrooms in the middle of service which is quite unhygienic. Overall, very disappointing and I will not be recommending or returning.

   I booked this via the app, I didn’t realise the signature lounges would be so casual and casual dining. I assumed because the G is a 5 star the food would be more interesting and a better selection. I didn’t review the menus before hand because I am not a fussy eater and don’t like things too preplanned. In hindsight I wish I asked to be seated in the other restaurant. For example on e fo the starters was crab on brown bread served with chips ?? As a starter The table we sat at was low , not appropriate for eating. The service was as friendly and efficient. Overpriced and an underwhelming experience. Perfect for drinks with friends but not food

   Food was good but overpriced. €6.50 for a rather mediocre bowl of chips. Monkfish wellington was nicely presented. The new decor is presumably meant to appeal a wider clientele but I miss the frivolity of the original rooms. Bathrooms were unfortunately not included in the refurbishment and could do with a good clean - walls dirty, and the toilet bowls are so low to the floor it's like being back in national school. Service was slow and disorganised. The few servers seemed to be running around like healess chickens. We ordered wine but food was nearly finished before we got it.

    Sat down for our 8pm booking, bit offered a high chair for our baby and message on booking clearly not read. Nobody returned to take order after 25 mins so we just went to the pub across the road for dinner. Seemingly happens frequently. We were residents in the hotel but there was a Christmas staff party on that was clearly the priority over other people. Menu was nowhere near what’s online also.

    We went to the G to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The food was outstanding, some of the best we’ve had. The service however wasn’t as great. Our sides came out half an hour after we finished our mains. You couldn’t get the attention of any of the servers unless they were bringing your food just took quite awhile to get to us. There was as a party of about 15 beside us that got so loud, we couldn’t hear each other over them. While the food was amazing the price we paid for it could be better used elsewhere if the service and atmosphere isn’t going to be as good.

    Took 20 mins to order, no staff. Half of our table of 4 got their food , soup came out 15 mins after sandwiches and it was cold, very poor !! Wouldn’t go back again . We had 2 burgers , 2 soup and 2 toasted Blt , burgers were hot, everything else was cold . Service was terrible. So disappointing

    Service was very poor. 2.5 hours for 2 courses. Long wait from order to receiving food and between courses. We went to bar to settle bill as no staff member had approached us from some time. However, as we entered the lift a different staff member questioned if we had settled our bill despite we having already done so at the bar.

    The spa and service in this area was good. Breakfast was good. Dinner was poor, steak was cold and service was poor. Absolutely no interaction from staff.

    The G is my favourite hotel and it never disappoints. I am always made feel so special and welcomed by the staff. We got married there and were celebrating our wedding anniversary today and the staff could not have been nicer to us. Thank you so much. Highly highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Lunch date, quiet and easy to converse. Décor is classy, fun and quirky. Clientele was varied, ladies who lunch, some business folks, young couple on their first date post arrival of the best behaved newborn I have ever seen, :-). Service and Coffee was great.     We were very disappointed in the food and service. We had to call over the wait staff for everything we needed; to take our order, to ask for dessert menu, to get a drink and to get the bill and again to pay. It was a let down. We ended up just getting main course. The chicken wasn't very hot and the steak looked grey and was warm at best. The peppercorn sauce was bland and the food was a big dissapointment for the price. Ambience was lovely and cocktails were nice but food and service was hugely disappointing!

    Beautiful relaxed venue for dining and drinks. Extensive menu and delicious food as part of casual dining. Attentive yet unobtrusive staff- respectful of our need to relax and of our pace when ordering. Professional and friendly service throughout. Special mention to Elaine Greene, Duty Manager, who has a wonderful presence; is at ease with customers and staff, cheerful, professional and competent. Always a pleasure to deal with her.

    Dropped a star each for service and value for money. The staff were absolutely fabulous but the food service was a little slow. Cost of meal for 2adults and 2children was easily 30-40€ more than other similar places we've eaten. I'd be slow to return for that reason and would choose another over it. One other thing, chairs are far too low for the tables. We went for a birthday celebration and they made the extra effort with a treat plate and candles which added to the experience.

    During these covid times, we felt very safe and separate from other diners. Staff were extremely efficient and friendly. Maybe the lunch mains menu was a little restricted...I really only saw two options for me...nothing there was very outstanding :-(
