Mother’s Day. Merrion staff were warm and welcoming to all the mums. Especially Fiona, the lovely manager, who finds time to chat to everyone. Loved my complimentary box of chocolates.

Overall, the experience was excellent. Food was great, staff were very attentive, surroundings were beautiful, wine was excellent (although we were charged for two extra glasses of wine that we did not have - I should have checked the bill more thoroughly!). Only minor issue was that there was a fantastic singer with a guitar supporting her but the sound was a little too loud.

Where do I start! It was my partner's 60th birthday and as a special surprise I had booked the Garden Room online requesting 'the best table in the house' (if available) and a birthday cake/candle to mark the occasion. |It was early on a Thursday, so I didn't see this as being too much of an ask. We arrived at 7pm, the restaurant was quiet at that time. I mentioned my name and we were given a choice of table (not particularly 'top'). I had asked about a vacant window table but it had a booking for 8pm. Another window table became free and the lovely waitress offered to move us, which was wonderful. We ordered our food and drinks, my partner had the Foie Gras starter and Seabream main, I had the goats cheese and beetroot starter and clam linguine main, all delicious and served with a smile. We then order a selection of cheeses to share. My partner left the table to visit the bathroom I took the opportunity to ask the waitress about the candle/cake as there had been no indication whatsoever that the online request had been noted. It was a surprise, he had no idea. She assured me that it would be delivered once we had finished our meal. That gave me comfort. The cheese board arrived, in the middle of which I felt quite unwell and paid a visit to the bathroom myself. I was gone quite some time (15-20 minutes at a guess). I arrived back to the table to find a beautiful birthday plate with candle had been presented to my partner by a waiter in my absence. My partner had blown out the candle. He was ON HIS OWN! How embarrassing for him. How thoughtless of the staff. The restaurant was very busy at the time so everyone saw the plate with lighted candle being delivered to the LONELY MAN in the corner window seat. Photo opp gone. It would make an excellent comedy sketch, I though wryly! I bit my lip and soldiered on (still wasn't feeling 100%). I waited 10 minutes for the change from the bill, and then just left it with her. So disappointing

Wicker chairs and table for the bigger man are too uncomfortable. Oysters were great but at €4 each are twice the price of anywhere else. Mains were OK, the Sole was great but venison was average at best. Service was slow. Beautiful room and setting.

This was the perfect setting for a catch up with a friend who had just landed in Dublin for the weekend.
The service was impeccable, the food delicious and we were made to feel relaxed in a truely beautiful setting in the heart of Dublin City.

A phenomenally relaxing night with exquisite food, excellent service, and relaxed ambience. Our sincere thanks to all the staff who made the evening for us after a particularly stressful couple of weeks with work.

This was our second visit, alas the first didn’t quite go as planned; management and staff showed their exemplary customer service skills, making us feel welcomed; recognising our disappointment with our first visit. A glass of champagne each greeted us with compliments of the house. The starters were beautifully presented and well portioned, tasty but not overpowering before the main.

Mains were veal and a pasta seafood dish. The veal was cooked to perfection with a delightful garnish and sauce. Pasta was aplenty with an excellent helping of clams.

A light sorbet to cleanse and some sensual popcorn and chocolate tart for me and raspberry soufflé for my partner. Both deserts were portioned just right, presented with passion and divine.

All food was paired with an excellent and fruity white wine.

We cannot express our gratitude enough for this night and look forward to our next visit.

I brought Mum here for her 70th and she and I enjoyed every minute.
It felt really special. Nothing felt forced or false.. it felt warm and friendly in the beautiful Garden Room with a lovely view.
We both went for the vegan menu..which was wonderful and plentiful.
Especially the Eton mess was to die for..such lovely flavours throughout the whole experience.
My Mum enjoyed every minute.
We would highly recommend for somewhere really special.
Thank you

My husband and I had lunch in The Garden Room last Sunday to celebrate our recent birthdays. Once again everything was absolutely outstanding. It was the first time to bring along our 8 month old son and it was such a good experience. The staff were outstanding! They gave us a perfect table by the window to accommodate our son’s buggy and allow him to amuse himself looking at the birds in the beautiful water feature in the garden. They also surprised him with a balloon which he just loved. We were so impressed with their kindness!
I had the pasta from the vegan menu which was just beautiful (I am not vegan), and my husband had the steak again which he said was perfect as per usual. Finally, even though we thought the experience couldn’t be improved upon, the glass of champagne each we had ordered was comped when the waitress heard we were celebrating our birthdays! Fab service, food, surroundings and people, well done The Garden Room. Thank you so much to all, we can’t wait to come back.

We went here for my dad’s 64th birthday. They gave him a special chocolate dessert with a happy birthday on it at the end of the night and he was really happy and surprised! Thanks for that guys!

The service was great. The staff checks on you if everything is going well throughout the night. Although once it gets busy, service gets a bit slower but we didn’t mind waiting.

The food was amazing! We didn’t get to try the starters but the mains and desserts were very tasty! Totally recommend to try the Fillet Mignon and Chocolate fondant!

Overall a 5 star experience for a 5 star venue and we will definitely be back again!

We were a group of 8 ladies who enjoyed a delicious late lunch on a Friday in early March 2019. From our first glass of champagne, to a delicious glass of pink champagne with the amazing raspberry souffle to conclude, everything was superb. The dining room is elegant, spacious, bright but quiet. The service was attentive and excellent. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We felt spoiled! We will definitely be back: a superb way to spend a Friday afternoon and evening!

When we arrived the table we booked was occupied by diners who had overstayed the time allocated for use of the table. We were given complimentary glasses of sparkling wine and the waiting staff skillfully negotiated the release of the table.Service was excellent throughout the meal and the wine we chose was lovely.Unfortunately when we both ordered pork we discovered it was unavailable.I was also surprised that a restaurant in a 5 star hotel did not do daily specials. However the food we did order was excellent ,sea bream and filet mignon.Indeed the steak was one of the best I have ever had.Disappointly the chips that accompanied it looked and tasted like oven chips from a bag.No triple cooked chunky chips or anything like them. However that was the only complaint I had and overall an excellent meal in a pleasant environment with excellent service and worth the 102 Euro paid. Would definitely recommend.

The Garden Room is a truly lovely dining experience. The service was very professional and yet relaxed. Decor very welcoming, and comfortable. Food outstanding and they have an excellent vegan menu, it’s small but the dishes are Devine. This restaurant will be especially lovely in summer time because as the name suggest it opens up into a charming garden setting. It is without question one if my favorite go to restaurants in Dublin. It’s situated in one of Dublin’s top hotels, The Merrion , that boasts an outstanding art collection. I would suggest an aperitif in the hotel bar before dinner and soak in the atmosphere.
