When making the booking I was nt informed that the early bird menu would not be available on the night which was most disappointing. As there was a family of 7 of us dining the reason I picked The Green Hen was for its attractive early bird menu. Mary

Good atmosphere, professional staff.
Good food, the duck was tasty, although a bit overcooked for my linking.
Good place to go but not cheap.

My friend order the salmon as a special but it wasnt available instead of asking her if she wanted somethingvdiggetent they decided t take that choice away from her and brought out Sol. Additionally, asked for a well done steak and it was pink on the inside and very fatty. I left more that I ate. They were also constantly rushing us. I had a booking for December with friends but I cancelled.

I had booked a table for 9.30pm on Saturday evening last for 4 people, we arrived on time to be advised that the table was not ready and shown to the bar to take a drink while waiting, at 10.50pm i was finally served my starter! the serving staff were unaware of the delay until i mentioned it, desserts were offered complimentary but this in no way made up for the long delay. While we were finishing our drinks the full lights were turned on and staff were tidying up around us. Very disappointed with this restaurant, would not recommend

Food was excellent but there were no gluten free options for dessert apart from ice cream which was very disappointing for me as a coeliac. Service was a bit chaotic, I was served with the wrong starter and my partner was finished his by the time the right one came out. We also had to ask for a glass for beer and we're served our mains without having cutlery which we also had to ask for.

2nd time visiting the green hen. Was seated downstairs this time, and appeared to arrive at rush hour. The restaurant was packed, but the manager found us our table very quickly, and service was very prompt. Would highly recommend the green hen. Will definitely be back next time we are in town.

The food was passable, the service (albeit friendly when they bothered to serve you) was extremely inefficient. The evening I was there seemed to be staffed by very inexperienced teenagers working a weekend job waiting tables, not what I would expect from a city centre restaurant.

Possibly one of my favourite restaurants in Dublin! Staff are very friendly and helpful when you can’t decide on what you want! Great ambience. Our meal was delicious, I would recommend the duck breast.
Will definitely be back.

Excellent food, lovely ambiance and very nice staff. The only complaints would be were sitting for a few minutes before we were offered menus and we had to request a wine menu. We were given the bill after 2 hours, this is fine if advised beforehand but we were not so it was quite rude to be given a bill we hadn't asked for and be told the table was needed in 5 minutes

We travelled 113 miles last sunday to have a birthday dinner for my 82 year old aunt at the Green hen.
It was well worth our while as the " vegan steak " was fabulous ... something I have not tried elsewhere and the birthday girl loved her meal
so like our previous visits we will return

Finally a chef, the wonderful Denis, who realises that Vegetarians like to eat too! Not an extensive Vegetarian Menu but what Denis did was just Yummy. Good soup is a treat but the Pumpkin soup was not just good, it was great. Loved the toasted pumpkin seeds. Gorgeous crunchy finish. As for my mains of Roasted Celeriac with a Mushroom sauce & broccoli, what beautiful flavours. I was the happiest diner in town ! Of course the atmosphere in The Green Hen was further enhanced by the wonderful Emmett who ran this restaurant smoothly & who just brought a wonderful vibe & buzz to the restaurant. Super chatty who seems to have the respect of his colleagues. All the staff were super friendly. A wonderful dining experience & I can’t wait to return.

We had a pleasant evening together at the Green Hen, but there were two main issues
1) The staff seemed under too much pressure, so that we didnt get the type of personal attention that we expected - they were quite distracted, there were long gaps between anyone paying any attention to us, and long gaps between courses.
2) The food was scanty on the plate, despite relatively high prices. A few dollops of potato and a few veggies to make the plate look more substantial would have gone a long way.

Five of us had lunch. Three enjoyed fish & chips but the person who had duck found it bland. I enjoyed a glass of Temperanillo (€8) . Others found the white Rioja a bit acidic.

We had a lovely meal. The food was tasty and delicious. Unfortunately they were short staffed and our server was kept busy but he still managed to provide us we excellent service. It was very loud because we were seated beside two large tables.
