Modern European
The Ivy restaurant has been a firm fixture on London’s dining and social scene since 1917. The restaurant and private room upstairs are the epitome of real glamour. A shimmering central dining bar in the restaurant draws admiring attention, and the signature harlequin stained-glass windows, oak panelling and striking contemporary art collection ensure the longevity of this very British of dining institutions. Executive Chef Gary Lee creates balanced seasonal menus, featuring Ivy classics, but accounting for today’s tastes, incorporating more Asian dishes, salads and vegetables, and the advent of a “sea and shells” section. Director Fernando Peire leads a strong and experienced team to deliver the unfaltering service for which The Ivy has become well known over the years. The Ivy welcomes customers without reservations at the central dining bar, where the A La Carte and Set menus are both served.

Our waitress was excellent, food was delicious and cooked perfectly. The only reason I don’t put 5 stars is that on my booking I mentioned we were celebrating 2 friends birthday. As we were being seated I reminded the lady (not our waitress) about the birthdays and she said she’d seen the notes. I was expecting something from the Ivy by way of acknowledging their birthday, for example a small cake for each of the birthday girls or at least wishing them happy birthday but received nothing.

Met by a surly waitress who only had a smile for her male boss. Food was very basic and uninteresting and badly served.

I've been going to the Ivy for over 20 years. Last night's visit was terrible. We had booked a pre-theatre meal but despite telling them this, we ended up running out of the restaurant to get to the theatre in time. We ordered some caviar as a pre starter but it was delivered between the first and second courses. The food was okish, but my tuna was overcooked. Service was friendly but utterly chaotic. The Ivy has clearly over expanded and by trying to cram in as many pre-theatre diners it has ruined the quality of service and food.

We went here to celebrate our daughter's graduation and it was a really good end to a great day. The staff were very attentive and the food was exceptional quality.

Warm ambience with rich woods, stained glass windows, many banquettes, elliptical bar in the middle, unobtrusive professional service, and varied menu, excellent product. My favorite restaurant in London

Haven’t been to the original Ivy for some time (have been to some of the offshoots) and I was disappointed with the food. The veal Holstein was bland, a little soggy and the egg was very overcooked. I had 1 small glass of wine, my main course, a side of fries for the table to share and a glass of water and it was just over £50 per person. Not sure I would rush back, think the group has spread themselves too thin and what used to be a special place is now nothing more than ordinary.

Nicely greeted at reception--hung up our coats to dry! Table ready and drinks order taken. Food order taken in good time. Food delivered hot and very good. Good varied menu to cater for all tastes and allergies. We three diners had Shepherds Pie, sticky toffee puds and baked Alaska--Yum Principal waiter, Karim, very attentive and interesting to talk to, as were the other table staff. My wife was very happy with her birthday experience--including a `Birthday Plate` very good all round and will be back.
