The Legal Eagle
Lunch features a daily roast-in-roll, Irish potato flatbreads (think bacon, cabbage & parsley sauce / think roasted squash, fig & honey / think smoked haddock brandade, fennel & duck egg!) and meats from our wood oven, traditional meat platters (hay-smoked ham, corned mutton, haslet, pickles) and delicious Seafood platters filled with the best from our coastal waters. Dinner adds roast bone marrow, rump heart, cauliflower rarebit and Shropshire Blue soufflé. There are 20 craft beers on tap, over 200 wines on a stellar list written with love and a small but considered and decidedly timeless classic cocktail list.
Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Staff were very welcoming
You just need to go.
Very quaint atmosphere. Service was spot on. The menu is eclectic nose to tail with seafood and options for the less adventurous. The smoked fish platter is a must try. Fabulous
Enjoyed our meal overall, but the food is not great. It seems like they're experimenting in some ways, but maybe getting the basics right might be a better idea. A good example is the Suet pudding, which i found pretty bland and comes with a mountain of turnip, for some reason. Maybe I'm the philistine here, but not for me thanks!
It was a bit of a walk from where we stayed
But well worth it from the moment we walked in we were impressed
Our waitress was very helpful and friendly and explained the menu well
The food was outstanding and very well presented
I had the rump of Irish beef and it was delicious cooked to perfection
It was one of the best meals I have every had
If you are going to dublin it's well worth a visit
I was so impressed with the fish plate & my companions cheese platter & roast beef dish that I went on Google reviews to praise the Legal Eagle already.
On a quiet Saturday in May, they could be forgiven for not really trying, but the opposite was the case, pulling out all the stops in the kitchen & on the floor.
I can highly recommend the Legal Eagle for lunch any day of the week.
Absolutely fantastic service, food and wine list. So very well looked after by your wonderful staff who gave us great recommendations from the extensive wine list, with great humour and a wealth of knowledge. Shall see you next time we’re in town.
We came with 2 coeliacs, which I flagged when booking. The menu was entirely unsuited to those who are gluten free. While there was gluten free bread available it is not the same experience as the baps given to non-sufferers. There were no main meals suited to coeliacs which is an oversight. It is unusual to have such an unenlightened menu in terms of allergies.
We were there on Easter Monday so it was particularly quiet, but we had amazing service and the food was spot on.
The Chateaubriand was sensational, as was everything else. Couldn't recommend this place more. It's service, decor, food and ambience were outstanding.
Excellent food, friendly staff, nice place. Well worth a visit
Great food, Outstanding service, could not have had a better dinning experience
Legal Eagle was unbelievably accommodating prior to our reservation regarding dietary restrictions and providing options; our service during our reservation and quality of food was unparalleled. Our server Sean truly made our experience exceptional, not simply providing recommendations for everything from food to drink but also providing a deeper context to the food and drink. We truly had a dining experience.
We reserved a table at 2 but turned up early. We were seated straight away. The interior is quite dark, but that’s a good thing. It’s beautiful and atmospheric, with the candle light on each table.
The food was amazing. The roast beef was the best I’ve had and
the service was perfect
Modern Irish food with fun takes on tradition
As always the Legal Eagle did not disappoint. Fantastic food. Great ingredients. Lovely ambience. Great attentive service.
My 4th visit in as many months and we will certainly be back
Great meal and great service!
Everything was amazing, food, drinks, and especially the staff. I only wish it was in Philly. I’ll be back next time I’m in Dublin!
I liked it but the only hot fish dish SALMON please make an effort and a little more vegetarian meals
Great beer and wine selection and the staff are very enthusiastic and professional. Had a chateau briand which proved to be too much for two of us, but took it away for breakfast and lunch the next day! Would happily go back. One thing... Change the music. It was the same one song on a loop for the whole night.
Great food and really friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend. Thanks 👍👍
One of my new favorite places in Dublin. Just went there on a lark at noon to grab something to eat before heading to a movie up the street and was delighted.
We visited on St. Patrick’s Day ... and I will tell you that after the craziness that was Temple Bar District this was a quiet oasis. Our cocktails were awesome and the food was great. We had the smoked fish and spreads... they were so good that we asked for extra bed to clean off all there was to eat... We also had the chateaubriand that was so tender there was no need for the knives provided...our server was a sweet girl who did not hurry us at all...
St. Patrick's day dinner, was great!! The meat platter starter is superb. Almost too big, almost...
An upscale pub food with real sophistication. The homemade bread was fantastic. We tried the Kish Bank Ray and really liked it. The melt in your mouth bone marrow was one of the best we’ve had. Better be real hungry if you want to order the Ale and Steak Pie.
Schönes Original irisches Restaurant!
Delicious food. Slow service, but that seems to be the norm in Europe. A little confusion about who was serving us and how to get our check. However, the food and drink suggestions were wonderful, the ambiance was great and the food was stellar.
The Legal Eagle is a hidden gem in the city Centre. It’s laid back , friendly and an excellent place to chill away from the madness and tackiness of temple bar and the city center. The food is truly epic, great choice and entirely unique. Would definitely recommend for either a cosy date night or chilling with friends.
A nice gastro pub with lovely service. Most of us went for the flatbreads which were tasty and great selection of gins
Very considerate and helpful staff. Good choice of dinner options and all of the party found something they liked. The food wasn't rushed, its was generously portioned and very flavoursome. The wine waitress was very knowledgeable, and she also covered the large craft beer section too with good recommendation ! So glad we went and I will be back!!
Wonderful experience. The menu is original, diverse and highlights locally grown / produced items. The customer service is exemplary. Would highly recommend for a get together with friends or intimate dinner. Conveniently located across the river from the frenzy of Temple Bar (close but not too close) and around the corner from Smithfield Square and Lighthouse Cinema.
Having read such great reviews I had been looking forward to lunch, unfortunately it was good in parts not in others.
Ordered the Chateaubriand and it was well worth it (would easily feed three people), The meat was divine, along with a recommended bottle of delicious red wine. Super friendly staff and very knowledgeable sommelier. Cant wait to go back.
Outstanding service from the manager and the waiting staff. Great food. The merlot they served by the the glass was delicious. Highly recommended.
Wonderful pork sausage and vegetables. Plentiful chips too.
We met friends here on a bitterly cold Friday night and from the minute we stepped in the door we were made so welcome! We happily enjoyed exploring this unusual and tempting menu - pork crackling and oyster mayo was a treat as was the roast bone marrow. We shared mains of roast cauliflower croquettes and a fish platter, Venison and mussels mains were all delicious. Ended the dinner with a brandy and whiskey and floated happily back out into the night. We’ll definitely be returning!
A nice spot for a casual evening with friends. The food was overall very good, with some stand-out dishes.
Hi. The ambience was very nice. We had a lovely seat. The waitresses were lovely, especially the girl from Argentina. She gave us great recommendations with the wine. We opted for the Steak and Ale pie, which we found a bit disappointing. The pastry was a bit heavy and the pie itself was a bit dry. Needed a good puff pastry and lots of gravy inside. We enjoyed the ploughman's Platter.
I think we would go back but possibly order the fish, as it looked really good, especially the Hake.
My new favourite place. Delicious food and great space.
