The Legal Eagle
Lunch features a daily roast-in-roll, Irish potato flatbreads (think bacon, cabbage & parsley sauce / think roasted squash, fig & honey / think smoked haddock brandade, fennel & duck egg!) and meats from our wood oven, traditional meat platters (hay-smoked ham, corned mutton, haslet, pickles) and delicious Seafood platters filled with the best from our coastal waters. Dinner adds roast bone marrow, rump heart, cauliflower rarebit and Shropshire Blue soufflé. There are 20 craft beers on tap, over 200 wines on a stellar list written with love and a small but considered and decidedly timeless classic cocktail list.
Great food and really friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend. Thanks 👍👍
One of my new favorite places in Dublin. Just went there on a lark at noon to grab something to eat before heading to a movie up the street and was delighted.
We visited on St. Patrick’s Day ... and I will tell you that after the craziness that was Temple Bar District this was a quiet oasis. Our cocktails were awesome and the food was great. We had the smoked fish and spreads... they were so good that we asked for extra bed to clean off all there was to eat... We also had the chateaubriand that was so tender there was no need for the knives provided...our server was a sweet girl who did not hurry us at all...
St. Patrick's day dinner, was great!! The meat platter starter is superb. Almost too big, almost...
An upscale pub food with real sophistication. The homemade bread was fantastic. We tried the Kish Bank Ray and really liked it. The melt in your mouth bone marrow was one of the best we’ve had. Better be real hungry if you want to order the Ale and Steak Pie.
Schönes Original irisches Restaurant!
Delicious food. Slow service, but that seems to be the norm in Europe. A little confusion about who was serving us and how to get our check. However, the food and drink suggestions were wonderful, the ambiance was great and the food was stellar.
The Legal Eagle is a hidden gem in the city Centre. It’s laid back , friendly and an excellent place to chill away from the madness and tackiness of temple bar and the city center. The food is truly epic, great choice and entirely unique. Would definitely recommend for either a cosy date night or chilling with friends.
A nice gastro pub with lovely service. Most of us went for the flatbreads which were tasty and great selection of gins
Very considerate and helpful staff. Good choice of dinner options and all of the party found something they liked. The food wasn't rushed, its was generously portioned and very flavoursome. The wine waitress was very knowledgeable, and she also covered the large craft beer section too with good recommendation ! So glad we went and I will be back!!
Wonderful experience. The menu is original, diverse and highlights locally grown / produced items. The customer service is exemplary. Would highly recommend for a get together with friends or intimate dinner. Conveniently located across the river from the frenzy of Temple Bar (close but not too close) and around the corner from Smithfield Square and Lighthouse Cinema.
Having read such great reviews I had been looking forward to lunch, unfortunately it was good in parts not in others.
Ordered the Chateaubriand and it was well worth it (would easily feed three people), The meat was divine, along with a recommended bottle of delicious red wine. Super friendly staff and very knowledgeable sommelier. Cant wait to go back.
Outstanding service from the manager and the waiting staff. Great food. The merlot they served by the the glass was delicious. Highly recommended.
Wonderful pork sausage and vegetables. Plentiful chips too.
We met friends here on a bitterly cold Friday night and from the minute we stepped in the door we were made so welcome! We happily enjoyed exploring this unusual and tempting menu - pork crackling and oyster mayo was a treat as was the roast bone marrow. We shared mains of roast cauliflower croquettes and a fish platter, Venison and mussels mains were all delicious. Ended the dinner with a brandy and whiskey and floated happily back out into the night. We’ll definitely be returning!
A nice spot for a casual evening with friends. The food was overall very good, with some stand-out dishes.
Hi. The ambience was very nice. We had a lovely seat. The waitresses were lovely, especially the girl from Argentina. She gave us great recommendations with the wine. We opted for the Steak and Ale pie, which we found a bit disappointing. The pastry was a bit heavy and the pie itself was a bit dry. Needed a good puff pastry and lots of gravy inside. We enjoyed the ploughman's Platter.
I think we would go back but possibly order the fish, as it looked really good, especially the Hake.
My new favourite place. Delicious food and great space.
Really lovely dinner. We were a group of 8 and it couldn’t have been better. Food was absolutely delicious, service was prompt and so friendly and the drinks menu was to die for. I’ll definitly be back!
Absolutely beautiful food, intelligent, considered menu that really showcases some of the best quality Irish produce I’ve ever had in Dublin. A beautiful little gem of a restaurant, tucked away in a quiet part of the city. Couldn’t recommend this place more highly, can’t wait to go back!
I booked the Legal Eagle for a group of 8, plus a one year old. We got a nice big table, space for all the stuff we had, staff were nice enough to let some of us leave our luggage in their storeroom. Staff were friendly and helpful, providing some veggies for the baby and chatty and nice with us. With such a large group with a kid it can be a bit chaotic but never once did we feel like we were being rushed off the table or a nuisance, like you might feel in other restaurants around the Christmas time. On top of all of this, the food was delicious and choosing what I wanted to eat was a tough choice. I will definitely return!
Outstanding food and fantastic wine & beer selection
Fabulous meal and service, such a lovely setting they really have done a brilliant job on the decor with great attention to detail. Great wine list and the food was top notch with service you would love to get every time you go out!
Very interesting menu! Food was so good, can’t wait to return!
The Sunday roast was excellent, and the wine list was very impressive. Highly recommend!
Hadn’t eaten here before so was looking forward to trying somewhere new; and I have to say we were not disappointed. We booked for 2pm on a Friday; in order to avoid the lunch-hour rush. And it worked perfectly. The food on offer was beautiful, different, and somewhat rustic. It was also reasonably priced. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knew their stuff. Would definitely recommend and plant to visit again.
A cosy restaurant with a very unusual interesting menu. Delicious fish board to share.
The staff are attentive and knowledgable about the dishes and the wine. Despite being extremely busy the service was excellent. We will definitely recommend and return
Amazing gastro-pub Irish food. Had the mussels and they were great. Great service and atmosphere too. Fully recommend!
Superlative and creative food in a comfortable and vibrant atmosphere. We’ve eaten here with many different groups and ages including toddlers and always had a good time. Highly recommended
I had been to this restaurant before and was very impressed by the food options so I booked it for a group of foodie friends. I was disappointed to find a quite limited menu for Sunday late afternoon into evening.
Our server was very accommodating in organising a starter for me that was not on the menu. The Sunday lunch menu was very limited for vegetarian options which are my personal preference.
The staff were very nice but at no time came to check that people were happy with their food chioces. 2 of our party ordered the old style duck egg mayonnaise got just that. 1 duck egg in halves smothered in mayonnaise with a little bit of cress to garnish. They were both disappointed by the presentation and the pool of mayonnaise. 2 other members of the group ordered the beef. Neither finished it as they found it very tough and one of these found their beef too rare to eat. At no point was he asked his preference for how he liked his beef served. Neither chose to leave comment but I do not think they would recommend the food to others. A dog owner in the party took their leftover meat home to her canine friends.
We all enjoyed the ambience and I heard no other complaints from our party. I enjoyed cauliflower rarebit to start, had slipper of gammon And enjoyed it very much. (The veggie options were not very inspiring on this menu and I rarely eat any meat). I also had a selection of ice creams which were delicious.
As I was the one who suggested the Legal Eagle to a group of seasoned foodies I was disappointed on behalf of those who obviously did not get the level of food that they anticipated.
I might try it again but for Sunday lunch.
We went here on a Sunday and the food was really tasty. It was a seventies themed menu which was super fun and throwback! Definitely different but a really good take on some classic food. We loved our starters (how can you not like baked cheese) and the rest of the courses were good. Only reason didn't give it 5-stars is that we didn't think it was outstanding, but it was indeed very good. We will come back.
Delicious food, unusual combinations. Very good service.
Food was good a little slow in coming but we didn’t mind as it tasted good. However the service was poor, trying to pay was a debacle!
Will definitely be back. Wonderful experience, food bursting with flavour and creativity.
Great selection of beers and wines. Service fantastic. Food a little bit too pedestrian; main course (steak and ale pie) was generous and packed with meat but lacked flavour / seasoning. Mixed platters for starters were good though.
The food here is both creative, fresh and absolutely delicious! Atmosphere and staff are top notch. A must do when in Dublin!
Very nice place with a varied menu, not the same as your usual restaurant, with an array of good food on offer, wide range of drinks and also that something simple for uncomplicated eater.
