Nestled in the heart of Ashtown Village, Dublin 15, overlooking the Royal Canal, The Lock Keeper can be found at Lock #10.

Steeped in heritage, this double lock was constructed c.1792. With quality stonework and attractive sloping edges Lock 10 is one of 46 along the Royal Canal and continues to be a testament to the skill of the craftsmen involved.

Our bar is adjacent to the Lock Keepers House, a post that became obsolete in 1961 when the canal was closed to traffic the previous year. The Royal Canal, which runs from the River Liffey to the River Shannon and stretches a distance of 145km, was originally built for freight and passenger transportation with the last working barges ceasing to operate in 1951.

My favourite local!! The staff are the friendliest and so helpful, they definitely go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and looked after. The food is delicious with I would argue the best chicken wings in Dublin. I wouldn’t know where to start on recommending their cocktails as they’ve always been well made and very tasty. The only improvement I would make would be the toilets as they are a little dark and don’t reflect the rest of the restaurant experience. Lucky to have The Lockkeeper so close to where I live and my friends love meeting here too!!

Ambiance and service were fantastic. Love the place, food is expensive for what it is though. Cocktails are great, but I had the duck dish and the fat wasn't rendered properly and the noodles were quite bland. My partner had the beef burger and chips and he liked it. Still quite expensive for what it was.

Had such a lovely time yesterday in The Lock keeper. We were seated promptly by a friendly server & left to browse the varied & good value menu. After ordering our drinks & then food, it all came in comfortable timing & we all couldn’t find any fault with our chosen dishes, absolutely delicious!! Staff were incredibly efficient & very friendly too Such a lovely evening spent by the canal & highly recommend The Lock Keeper 100%

The biggest thing that let this establishment down were the toilets. We were there at 19.15hrs and they were dirty which is pretty early on in the evening so I can only imagine what they were like later on in the night. The staff were very efficient, friendly and professional

We went for a family meal ona Tuesday. Not too busy. Food choice very good for pub food and it was excellent food with very big portions. Staff couldn't do enough. Highly recommend for pub food and located beside Ashtown station which is an added bonus.

The Lock Keeper is a great spot for dinner and drinks. The service is excellent, really attentive, and the food on offer is delicious and has something to appeal to everyone. They have a nice cocktail menu and decent wine on offer as well as a good range of beer. Would definitely recommend!

We had a long wait for service and had to ask for menus, as we had children with us this was not good the 2 year old was hungry and got very restless when the order came the 7 year old’s order of a burger was very over cooked and couldn’t eat it. I have eaten here before and didn’t have any issues

We went here for a meal with my partner , the restaurant was nice and lively. When we were ordering we asked what the catch of the day was and the server explained it and that it had chorizo but never said there was mussels on it, our starter was lovely but when the main came out there was mussels. We said it to the server and he was rude and said he said there was mussels and no chorizo. Then he took the plate from my partner and never said what was happening. I was waiting with my main course so expecting my partner’s main to come back, 15 minutes went by and no one came over to say what was going on, the manager was stood at the desk about 10 feet away from us and didn’t even bother coming over, after about 20 mins we had to cancel the dish, the original server still had not came back over to mention anything. When we asked for the bill all they said was we took the dish that we didn’t get off. Im not looking for a free meal but there wasn’t even a gesture towards us. The manager was no where to be seen thru out and didn’t come over to apologise. We had to go to the desk to mention it to the manager and she wasnt very helpful, we spent 82 euro for my partner not to get dinner. Awful service and very rude staff ( the ones we dealt with) . I definately will not be visiting here anytime
