The Mayson Bar is located on the ground floor of The Mayson Hotel. It’s interiors pay homage to the original warehouse with exposed brickwork and timber ceilings, floor to ceiling crittall windows and bespoke wall lights. A beautiful large island bar is the centrepiece of this space, with specially commissioned hand-crafted stitched leather panels. The Mayson Bar serves an all-day menu of comfort food for lunch and dinner, featuring traditional classics such as Seafood Chowder, Bacon & Cabbage with Mashed Potato and Parsley Sauce and Shepherd's Pie. Fancy a drink? The Mayson Bar is home to an amazing cocktail menu, expertly created and prepared by our bartenders. Guests can also enjoy a drink or a nibble on the outdoor original truss roofed courtyard with three-storey living wall.

Booked through open table but when I got there they didn't have my booking but I showed them my confirmation and they got us a table. Lovely bar and nice food and wine.

We were seated at a table beside an access door to the courtyard that was constantly being opened by staff and customers throughout our 1hr 45min visit- remaining wedged open at times until a staff member would eventually notice and close it. At times our menus went flying off the table due to the breeze! It was absolutely freezing, to the extent where we stayed in our coats for the entire time. We asked to be moved, but the tables were fully booked. There appeared to be an abundance of staff- so why someone couldn’t be stationed at this door is beyond me, especially given the fact that two other tables around us complained.
I asked for a glass of Pinot Grigio which arrived promptly- but it was warm. I asked for it to be replaced- a glass was chilled with ice cubes (I was sitting beside the bar so saw this) and more under-chilled Pinot was poured. I was asked was it ok, I said it wasn’t but I would drink it anyway.
Two of our starters arrived promptly, the third arrived 5-10 minutes later.... which was unusual as it was the soup! The main courses arrived together- the two chicken pies were delicious and warm. The fish and chips were only barely lukewarm and the portion of fish was very small.
A huge indicator of poorly trained waitstaff- whipping away finished plates each time a person was finished in the group, as opposed to waiting for everyone at the table to be finished to clear!!!!
The waitstaff were very attentive (overly so in terms of whipping away plates!), the decor beautiful, cleanliness top notch- but major issues with positioning multiple tables beside an outside door, food delivery badly timed, some food only lukewarm, and wine was not properly chilled.
All of the above issues I believe are easily dealt with.... other than the door! My recommendation would be to remove the tables closest to it, unless you can guarantee warm weather!
