Service very poor. Staff were not attentive. Left with dinner plates for at least 25/30 mins after eating. We were not asked if everything was okay. Felt like an inconvenience when we asked for our plates to be cleared. We were not offered desert menus. Very disappointing as the food was lovey.

I love The Metropole Hotel and used to dine there often. I arranged to meet a friend there for a pre-Christmas meal. She ordered battered haddock and it was inedible; the worst meal I’ve in a long time; the batter was undercooked. We dined in the bar which was inadequately staffed. It’s so sad to see, what appears to be, the impact of cost savings.

Amazing experience. Our group had a table set up in a nook so it was like a private setting for us. We felt the surroundings to be incredible and just so luxurious. Our waiter (who I am so sorry I cannot remember his name, but he was from Malta) was just fantastic. He was friendly and informative and looked after us so well. He checked in on us constantly to make sure we were ok and didn't need anything else, and was super apologetic when one of the meals was later than the others. The food was so tasty, and we all had 3 courses. I personally went for the smoked salmon started and then beef cheek pasta and thought the flavour was amazing. The cocktails were also really good and even though they couldn't offer some of the "classics" the ones on the list were really tasty. I would definitely recommend this spot and food for events and I will be going back there in the future.

Had a booking for lunch, arrived 5/10 mins early waiting on lunch date. Refused to give a seat until I stood there with menu in hand and had to order for myself and my guest. Was told to ring my guest while standing to order our food before they would give me a table. Ended up walking out. Very rude.

The Dining and Jazz experience for the Guinness Jazz festival was wonderful. Lovely food and great service. Jazz in every room and plenty of space. Would highly recommend.

The bar service was poor, we had to ask for tge Guiness draft to be poured again. The restaurant service was better but the food took 30 minutes and the roasted cauluflower dish was bland.

Although the restaurant was quiet there were a few mistakes made regarding our orders. Some food was wrong, some came twice. There was a lot of staff just standing around chatting. The food was good though and it was a nice atmosphere so I would still recommend but don't be in a hurry.

Gorgeous setting, really really nice. Staff very friendly but seemed unsure of themselves. Wrong food brought out and staff apologised and rectified matter without issue. Breakfast/ Brunch menu brought instead of dinner menu.. waiting on drinks.. food was ok. I had Beef Lt. Wife had black pudding salad. Both only ok - nothing amazing but still tasty. Kids goujons and bangers and mash were very tasty. Overall 4/5

I choose the Met for my after-graduation dinner with my family. I could not have found a more suitable setting for such an occasion. The staff were incredibly considerate. The food and drink was high quality and very satisfying. The atmosphere was lovely with very comfortable furniture and seating.

John our bartender was not only gracious and kind but he made us feel at home since we were from out of town and new to Cork. No matter the request, he was happy to help! Grateful for our time with him and at The Met!

Went to the met based off a recommendation and was very pleased with the experience. The food was good and reasonably priced, sat in the bar which had a nice atmosphere and the staff were pleasant.

Incredibly poor service. I booked over a month ago and came to celebrate my birthday with a nice dinner but from the moment I walked in I felt unwelcomed which became more and more apparent as the night continued with neglectful service, mistakes in my order, stale bread, and overcooked food. Was initially ignored when I sat down then felt like I was not receiving the same service as the patrons around me and treated like a problem customer when I addressed these concerns with management. Initially showed up for my reservation before being redirected to hotel lobby who redirected me back to restaurant. Could’ve been a misunderstanding if not for the disappointing evening that was soon to follow. Was looking to spend €100+ and walked out with a €27 tab and still hungry after sending back an over fried/bland entree after an already disappointing evening and deciding not to order any further. Steer clear of the chicken sandwich though the mussels were pretty good. I believe in second chances and will return in the morning for breakfast and will update my review accordingly.

The coffee was terrible, almost imposible to drink and ridiculously expensive. 4,20 for a small coffee cup. Trouffle fries were regular fries with mayonnaise Food portions small in general A lot of room for improvement

A wonderful place for a meal. It was a bit slower than expected, not that it was slow enough to be bad and it did have a nice atmosphere, but since the reservations are officially only an hour and 45 minutes, we ended up going over the time we expected, just something to be aware of it you're planning out a longer day. But overall, a fantastic experience!

I rarely dine here, but I was going to an event near by. I found everything to beautiful. I honestly did not find any fault. The staff were friendly and welcoming without being too over friendly. The food was delicious I had chicken supreme Kiev.. There was the right amount of Garlic without being over powering and the chicken was moist. There was also toasted almonds in the dish which I thought unusual but I felt went very well in the dish. I had the Strawberry & Vanilla Crémeux, it was beautiful and light, it felt like a mousse to taste but you could taste the sponge as well.. Highly recommend if you like desserts . The only thing I would advise is to ask to be seated at table and chairs. They have 2 beautiful high back sofas but are low, so not ideal to sit for a meal.. I did observe a group who used the big cushions to seat on to give them more height. Just my observation, over all I would recommend the restaurant.

The MET online presence indicates there are vegan friendly and dairy free menu available or at least options. This was not so at all. Across the whole breakfast, brunch and lunch menu, they only had one option that was vegetarian and dairy free ( Smashed avo toast). This was unexpected as we were mislead from the online menu indication and had booked a week in advance asking on these allergens. Ordered several vegetarian meals we could ( waffles, avocado toast and a focaccia asking without cheese) with chips. The meals were just ok and did not feel fres h especially the focaccia which was unedible - felt like a reheated frozen item and was so hard neither from the party wanted to give it a try after a bite, left it aside. The food quality and availability being the main let down, we also had to ask the manager to move tables to a different area as a swarm of ~30 flies were hovering and started to feel itchy from being landed on regularly prior to getting the food. By the time we got and commenced eating our dishes, the flies found their way to us in the new area we sat at. Even if the waitres and manager on shift were accommodating and tried to address these dofficulties, our experience was unpleasant and encountered it subpar altogether from what you would expect from the Metropole. I had recommended the spot to discuss business thanks to prior good experience (3 years back) and felt disappointed enough to perhaps not recommend again.

First time trying brunch here. The shakshuka was divine. I was disappointed that I couldn't have a Bloody Mary from the menu with my brunch as the mixologist was off.

Made an online reservation for 11:15. Showed up then- not open. Girl at desk said Oh, brunch starts at noon. I then asked So why then did the online tool offer an 11:15 time? Deer in headlights, no response, no apology. Finally got in at noon, I’m the only one there. A ghost town. Menu offered mimosas so I order one. Deer in headlights, girl had never heard the word before. Finally got a mimosa. Shamshuka eggs were basically just spicy beans. Two stars is generous. I’m told Burger King has breakfast, will try it next time.

The staff and service at the metropole are absolutely outstanding, can’t be faulted in anyway. The food was excellent and brought out in a timely manner. I can’t wait for my next meal at the metropole.

We had dinner for one evening in the hotel during our stay to celebrate our anniversary. This was noted on the reservation. The hotel restaurant was very slow with only 3 other table and 5 people at the bar. There were plenty of staff in the space, but the food took a while for each course and the waitstaff follow up was extremely slow where we had to wave them down to get something. We thought maybe there would be a recognition outside of the staff member seating us that said "Oh this is an anniversary dinner", but unfortunately that did not occur. Food did taste great when we received it and the cocktails were as well. Just a missed service opportunity on an evening that should of had more guest focus with the level of business.

Arrived a little before our reservation time but was seated, was put at a lovely table. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was excellent, both starters and the mains. I had mentioned when booking that it was my partners birthday and the staff evening brought out some selection of cakes with a Candle, it was a nice touch. Would highly recommend.

What a lovely experience for a solo diner. A wonderfully warm welcome from various members of staff (not forced but very genuine and warm). The food was delicious and served with gracious timing. Congrats to all at the Met. A real ‘team’ effort!
