   AS a trainee of the late Mr Douglas Vance in the Metropole Hotel 65 years ago it was a very nice walk through and I compliment ALL the staff who made it so memorable My Australian friends were suitable impressed and I was very proud Thank you Mary Consilia Dennehy bs

   A very nice evening. We were a party of two friends and spent three hours in the restaurant. The menu included some great vegetarian options. The bar is famed for its cocktails and we enjoyed a couple from the celebratory menu. Our second drink was inconsistent in terms of flavour, didn’t match to the menu but still very decent. Service was a little mixed. We weren’t provided with a drinks menu on seating, we had to ask for water and our second drink was forgotten about. This didn’t bother me but may annoy another diner. Overall a lovely atmosphere and staff were friendly. I would dine here again and recommend to a friend.

   Had a lovely meal here with my wife and 2 teenagers. There was an issue with communication of our order to the kitchen meaning we were waiting 1hr for the meal to be served but the staff were so apologetic and even complimented our desserts. The lamb shank is to be recommended highly. We will be back!

    Jack and staff were brilliant , was my grandmothers birthday and they brought out a brownie with a candle (she’s 78) so lovely ! Thanks to everyone brilliant staff!

    The ambience is quiet and comfortable but the food did not meet our expectations. The Prawn appetizer was not prawns but actually tiny shrimps which was a bit disappointing. The salad was fresh but the Lamb Shank was a very small portion with too much fat. Again, the red wine had not been stored properly and was tto warm to drink. I had to put a few ice cubes in the glass to fix that problem.

    Food was fantastic really tasty staff helpful polite and efficient made us feel extremely welcome portion sizes are perfect.my husband had chicken wings to start best he's ever had I had goats cheese salad .we both then had chicken and coffees

    Food was lousy, do not ever book the room/dinner package, they don't even let you pick from the main menu and the choices are very limited. Food was bland and cold.

    Service was outstanding, had the chowder soup which was a bit to thick for me , had another starter as my main because there wasn’t much of a choice in the main section, but it was gorgeous. And we were surprised with a selection of desserts as it was a joint birthday celebration , we were really touched by the gesture.

    I thought the service was excellent and friendly throughout. I felt a genuine human warmth that went far beyond anything you can learn from a process manual. I thoroughly enjoyed my first ever afternoon tea and would recommend it highly - compliments to the chef. The vegetarian korma was quite poor but everything else was first class. My room (216) was very comfortable but the traffic noise from street from 5.00 AM means you don’t get a full night’s sleep

    Food was really good and value for money but unfortunately the service was not great we understand there was a few trainees on the floor at the time. We would have liked to order another drink and desert but had to leave as we were doing to a show. We tried to get the staffs attention but the 3 of them were very focused on clearing a table.
