The Rabbits is a family friendly gastro pub & restaurant in the heart of the essex countryside. We pride ourselves on good friendly service and good quality homecooked food with our seasonal menus, we serve real ales, fine wines & premium spirits. We have a great beer garden where you can take in the picturesque views whilst not having to go too far to order any food or drink as this can all be done at our garden bar which is also playing background music around our garden, this is open Thurs-Sunday throughout the spring/summer weather permitting. There is a childrens play area and we also welcome dogs in our garden and inside the bar area. The Rabbits Team look forward to seeing you soon.

Came here for Sunday dinner and the first half of the meal was great. The food was very good, the service was very good and had no complaints. However, halfway through we were joined by a very large table of adults and children who allowed their kids to run riot. Beating in mind this is a family pub, I didn’t expect it to be devoid of kids and families however the noise and behaviour of the kids reduced enjoyment for the second part of the meal. I would have expected the pub staff to challenge the noise and behaviour but didn’t. Not sure what pub could have done in advance in fairness. Aside from this I have no complaints and think I was probably just unlucky with the booking. Would definitely return.

Party of eight out for a regular pub lunch outing. Service was friendly and efficient, making all feel most welcome, especially as we were there for 4 hours. The food is good quality "Pub Grub" the set menu offering excellent value and the beer well kept. All in all a lovely afternoon and thoroughly recommended.

Wouldn’t say we was late eating at 8pm We was the only ones eating Calamari was over cooked, fish pie was over heated could not hold the bowl veg was different odd Ribs over cooked burnt, chips ordered where chunky arrived skinny they was changed Then was asked if we want dessert half way through dinner as chef goes at 9 That was at 850 Very disappointed Wouldn’t go back

We were a party of seven. Staff were fully attentive. Meal selection was great, good choice for kids too. Food was delicious. We would definitely recommend and will return. Only criticism, would be the portion of baked beans for kids, we had to order a second for one of our kids as the beans came separately in a little pot that was the same size as the tomato ketchup pot, compared to the peas on the other kids meal were plentiful.

The staff absolutely amazing could not fault them couldn't do enough one of the meals lovely but another had to change twice third time was ok but the staff could not be more helpful sitting in beer garden was lovely we have eaten few times before we just unlucky one of the meals not so good but agin staff amazing

The staff are always friendly and helpful. Prices are acceptable. My only disappointment was the fish of the day, which was scampi. I was hoping for maybe sea bass, skate or sole as I’m not a shellfish lover. Also my husbands burger was overdone, but he’s had it before and it’s been perfect, so maybe just a glitch. It’s lovely eating in the conservatory on a nice day, but flies can be a b….y nuisance when you’re trying to have a conversation and continually have to bat them away. We will continue to go to the Rabbits, as it offers good value for money, and a comfortable atmosphere, especially when with friends

We went for our anniversary dinner, we go a few times as food is great, but this time service was quite bad, we got lefted, no update on our dinner we waited 1hr30 we had 5 tables came in after us, and got their roasts before us even one of them asked to change there roast beef to the chicken and got it within minutes while we was still waiting. Lacked on service yesterday

Food & staff were very good, unfortunately on our night there were a lot of kids running about, as we were seated near the toilet the kids were running in and out the toilet making the door continuously bang shut, we did complain to staff, who did apologise, but seemed a little reluctant to do anything, saying they were the locals children!!

Had another great Sunday roast, food was lovely, atmosphere was nice and quiet in the conservatory, staff were friendly. This is one of my favourite places to go with friends & family.

Lovely food but we had requested (in our reservation) to sit in the restaurant but ended up in the sweltering conservatory. The service was fine and we did understand that they were under a lot of pressure (it was busy) and it was extremely warm. A few things were omitted, however, such as one meal had no peas and the breadsticks never turned up with our starter. We also had to ask several times for the bill and the dessert menu never turned up either (we had to find one from another table). Appreciate it was a busy day though.

We had booked for 4 adults and a high chair. When we got there they first said they didn’t have our reservation…..then a friendly lady came to help and did find the reservation. Then another lady said if we had a baby for the highchair we should have booked a table for 5… she then did manage to accommodate us. The food was ok but the Yorkshire Puddings were definitely microwave heated and the beef was tough. The Elton mess was warm and the fruit in it was of the frozen quality. The pub is lovely and the outdoor area is great. The lady at the outdoor bar was most pleasant and professional.

Family meal with kids for Father’s Day. The setting is perfect and managed to beat the rain for most of the dining experience. Food so nice and generous portions. Will defo book again and bring the dogs next time. It’s very family and pet friendly

The chicken wings and cran and prawn linguine was nice but the whitebait, pork schnitzel and French fries were all overcooked and difficult to eat especially the pork as it was dry. Wanted to send it back but the my guests did not want to make a fuss. The table in the conservatory was also behind the double doors and was not the best place to sit especially when there were other tables of 4 available. Disappointing as came recommended

4 roasts were ordered. 2 beef, 1 chicken and 1 pork. The beef was not properly cooked, very pink more than I would expect. The meat itself was very fatty and stringy. We were too polite to complain. We did notice later on that the beef served to other diners looked to be better cooked and better quality. The chicken was a thigh rather than slices and pork was served as two roasted chops. Whilst very tasty not what we were expecting as not mentioned on the menu. Overall a little disappointing as eating out is now very expensive. It does mention that the pub serves the fourth best Sunday Roast in Essex, unfortunately not on our particular visit. The service was very good and we were made welcome.

We sat outside in the end as we had our dog. There was lovely rattan furniture under cover but we weren't allowed to sit there because of the dog. The wind was coming across the fields so we sat round the side facing the car park and it was lovely and sheltered. Please not if you sit in the bar area where it IS dog friendly the tables are only for 4 people - we were a 5 so that wasn't any good for us. Lovely and friendly ladies though and would go back.

Waitress’s were very friendly but there was significant delay when awaiting for dishes and drink orders turned up incorrect but little action was taken to rectify and instead there was indirect encouragement to take the wrong drink anyway
