Its an excellent but pricey place for every meal, with diverse options from vegetarian to American to Asian, all done well. The room is elegant without being stuffy. The service is discreet and attentive. Hard to go wrong so long as cost is no object.
It’s a very nice place physically and the noise level allows conversation. Also the servers try to please. But the melon we ordered was inedible - the honeydew wad spoiled - and the other melon was like cardboard. The coffee left on the table for us to pour was cold and the little milk pitcher provided was inadequate and hard to get refilled. Pancakes came with a much too little syrup and my friend who ordered them said they were terrible - very heavy, no fluffiness as if the chef made a mistake with his mix.
Regency Bar and grill never disappoints. Good food great service pretty room.
I've eaten here several times and the food and service are always good, but the bar is always a disaster. Because the entire back side of the bar is for service only, there is never enough space at the bar to get a drink. The noise from the bar is tremendous, making conversation at the tables quite difficult. They really need to work on reducing the noise level between the two spaces or allow those of us that want a bit of quite conversation to eat in the back room instead of closing it in the evenings.
The bartenders were not hospitable, the dining room waiter was very kind and professional. Would not return, over priced and the food was just OK.
Everything about this place was great! The food was very good & amazing staff!
Almost rude wait staff. Food was quite good but pricey. Attractive crowd.
After a 45 minute wait for breakfast our food never arrived. No apology. Nothing it was terrible and very embarrassing as it was a business breakfast.
I wanted to list NO ZERO STARS but this form wouldn’t let me.
needs acoustic ceiling tiles or carpeting on the floor or both. Noise bounces off everything. Becomes uncomfortable when many tables are occupied...
The service was great! The food was really good. Everyone was happy!
Outstanding service. Great ambiance. Delicious meals with generous portions. We’ll be back. Thank you all.
Good service, great cocktails. Only negative is that the low ceiling makes it VERY noisy.
Excellent service but the food is inconsistent with inflated prices. Steak was under seasoned and over cooked. Pork chop was over cooked and bland. While our server was extremely friendly the food was disappointing.
Good place for drinks and bar food. Quality of the food was excellent, just expensive. Would visit again.
The salmon was tasteless and the tomato soup had a bitter aftertaste. Overpriced given the quality of food.
Bar none, the most overpriced meal I've had in a long time. $82 (before tip) for 2 omelettes and coffee. $9 for a cup of badly brewed, diner-grade coffee? Absolutely crazy, even considering the UES hotel premium. Food wasn't bad, but certainly not worth the price at all.
Unfortunately, it really depends on who happens to be in the kitchen and who is your server. During the week, breakfast was spot on and consistent. This review is for a Saturday morning - the food was prepared differently than during the week and it took 17 minutes from my coffee cup being empty, while waiting for my breakfast, before someone stopped by to inquire whether I would like more - mind you this is a $9 cup of ordinary coffee.
This dinner was surprisingly flavorful and the service was spot on.
We had Easter Brunch here and it was amazing. Very relaxed and family friendly. I highly recommend for special occasions or Sunday brunch.
Great place for breakfast, brunch and lunch!!!
Very comfortable and quiet, you can have a conversation without raising your voice!!!! Food is also good!!!
Very Nice meal with great service. The menu was a bit limited, but both dishes we tried were very nice. An extensive wine list to suit every pallet and wallet too :)
You know you're in New York when you dine af this restaurant for all seasons, with a terrific ambience, superb cuisine and wines the Regency is fit for foodies or family celebrations. The live jazz on Friday evening make it a go-to favorite to start the weekend.
My daughter, her friend and I checked into the Loews hotel and decided to have a late lunch. Big mistake. The menu was for brunch (3:00 on a Saturday?) so it was somewhat limited although the menu descriptions looked appealing. My daughter ordered a hamburger and her friend an omelet. I tried the chicken with waffles. My daughter's burger was inedible. The omelet was acceptable but my dish was basically chicken fingers with waffles, very overdone, looked like a child's item. The service was pleasant although our waiter disappeared after he served us so getting water was a challenge. I was mainly disappointed with our overall experience. For $100 for a "quick" bite, my expectations were certainly higher.
Creative cuisine featuring crispiest calamari, terrific tuna tartare tacos, best bolongnese, and superb simple grilled menu. Sommelier sure knows his wines! Something for everyone in this festive find! Great for any celebration! Live jazz in Friday's made us feel as though we were in a Woody Allen movie!
We went to this place after we saw an article about it on a magazine. They took forever to greet us at the table and also to serve us. I actually had to ask if we had a waiter/waitress. I ordered the lobster roll which came cold and it wasn't that tasty at all. My friend had the eggs Benedict and also felt like it tasted plain. The fruit bowl and the yogurt was good and had a cute presentation. Lots of older people too, not that it matters to me but it might to some. I will not be coming back to this place only because there is nothing special about it.
The entrance of the hotel looks great but the reception doesn't look that happy to welcome guests for the restaurant, whereas the hostesses are great.! They are nice, smiling, willing to help. The table was nice and the food very appreciable. We had the healthy breakfast, and the plates were perfect. But the service was really behind. The restaurant was empty but full of staff doing nothing. No communication. We asked for some gluten free bread which got on the table 10 minutes before the plates. No follow up at the table. That's a pity because it could have been so much nicer... We had a great time together anyway, thanks to the hostesses and the kitchen.!
Menu was limited, but worked. We just wanted something because it was our arrival nite and hadn't eaten yet. Nice atmosphere. Decent bar. Good food.
I absolutely loved my dinner at the Regency! I bring friends and colleagues here all the time -- the service is also incredible. They all make me feel right at home. The scallops are to die for!!
We came for Christmas dinner - restaurant was freezing, asked to make it warmer 4 separate times and the air conditioning was never turned down. Also, almost an hour lapsed between appetizers and mains. Food and ambiance were good but honestly our party felt forgotten about and would never return.
Meeting a friend for lunch here, we had a completely inattentive and disinterested waiter. Classic case of shoddy treatment of women dining together -- which happens too often in places that are not savvy enough to realize we are the best tippers when the service is good. I ordered something well done that came out under cooked; part of her order never arrived even though we asked five different people to please check on it. A manager finally brought it at the end of the meal with the excuse that they were having some problems with the order system getting to the kitchen - How about walking back in and just getting it after the third time we asked? Our original waiter was never seen again. The manager who finally brought it took a small percentage off the bill......but we won't be back. The Regency may have snazzed up the place but the service is worse than when it used to be the tired old Power Breakfast spot.
Great for business dinner. Good foo, attentive, but not obtrusive service and quiet atmosphere conducive for real conversation.
The service was extremely slow. We ordered drinks when our entrees came out, and the drinks were brought to the table after we finished eating the main course. Also, it was a birthday, so the desert should have come with a candle, as asked. Instead the server said they were doing something special, which would be right out. Right out turned out to be 15 minutes later, when they brought over a peanut butter flavored desert. Problem was, the birthday girl cannot eat peanut butter. The server and manager were not apologetic at all.
Everyone loved their fish dishes, good bread, good wine
steamed string beans were perfect
there's a grilled plain menu so you can eat here a lot
just know its very expensive
Excellent service. Polished and clean. Filled with an UES business crowd on weekdays.
Always a favorite and will return!
The Regency is a favorite of mine for breakfast. It sets the tone for the day and couldn't be better. Fine and fast service, elegant, yet casual surroundings and delicious food.
Wow have enjoyed dining here twice and looking forward to the next time but it's not faint of pocket.
Probably good for breakfast. Lackluster food at exorbitant prices. Beautifully designed room.
We were disappointed at being overlooked and under attended to by staff who were very clearly focused on the business community popping in for breakfast. The menu was not fully explained, drink orders were not until we had been sitting looking around for almost 15 minutes. Food service was average and we felt we were taking the spot of some 'more important' guests. With empty cups sitting there for extended periods, not once were we offered more drinks or even asked if we would like to order anything more.
Good reception, typical hotel dining room. Good sounding menu, but the food didn't live up to the hype.
Many other better places to eat after all this is NYC.
