Having drove past many times and seeing the car park full on many occasions, decided to give it ago at the weekend. A very enjoyable Sunday lunch was had by all, with first class staff and service. Will watch out for up and coming advents in the pub, or news letters. ChrisO

The food and staff were excellent. Very friendly and made us feel very welcome. It was one of our old haunts that we used to visit it years ago. So was nice to go back and reminisce. Will certainly visit again.

The majority of the menu seemed to be unavailable - primarily anything containing fresh ingredients. The food seemed to have been cooked in cooking oil that had been used before from its smell. There was only one other table of 4 customers in the entire pub including the bar so everyone else clearly knew not to go there! Food was really disappointing and we will not be returning. ☹️ Such a shame when you are looking forward to a good pub meal and this just wasn’t.

Absolutely wonderful staff food was absolutely lovely we had roast beef kids had pizza and my other had chicken strips which she is a hard one to please so thumbs up on food. Only comment i can make is that when asked if you want pigs in blankets this comes in at an extra £5 per person so in all roast ends up costing £25 plus, i am aware it is stated on the menu but be nice just to let the customer know when ordering. But if you fancy a treat a hood home cooked roast then this is perfect.

The food was lovely and staff was friendly. For me, there just wasn't the right kind of veg on the Sunday roast. Its a quiet, cute little pub. I particularly liked the ladies toilets as there were baskets with nappies and sanitary items which I thought was an amazing idea. Would come back and try something off the normal menu.

The food was of a very highly standard and with very good portions. A lovely pub in a nice location. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back. Garden area looked nice, there was a separate party/event going on but didn’t effect a lovely evening with friends x

My husband & I both had a really delicious roast dinner, my daughter enjoyed her burger & my son rated his Mac & cheese the 2nd best ever (1st place went to America!!) I’ve only rated it 3 star for ambience as we were the only people in the restaurant area at 5pm on a Sunday, but I gather there had been a busy lunch service. Will definitely be going back again

Lovely meal tasty roast and yummy burgers.. helpful staff and very accommodating of our quite large dog! great refurb with beautifully decorated outside area and massive secluded garden where you can sit under the trees and lights! Looks like you can sit outside and watch the sports … if that’s your thing … Lovely spot we will be back for the Thursday deal !

Due to a wedding taking place at the Ship, there was a shortage of food available. Also, there were problems in the Kitchen which meant we waited over an hour for the food we did order. Unfortunately, we were not informed of this until just before our food arrived. Food was very mediocre too. We will not visit again.

I will start with the positives, we arrived very early due to our prior engagement finishing early and the friendly staff were able to accommodate us (probably because the place was pretty empty apart from 2 biggish tables. No one in the garden or bar either). We ordered drinks and my husband's beer was cloudy although drinkable. When we went to order our meal we were advised that only 2 of the starters were available. Then we were told 2 of the mains were also not available, one of which was roast beef and it was 2.30pm on a Sunday! We placed our order and waited well over half an hour for our starters which was a crab and avocado pot served with toasted sour bread. The bread was cold and pretty much inedible . After another long wait our mains arrived. My roast chicken was very tough and the dish of veg looked like it had been left on the hot plate for hours. It was completely dry. We were offered complimentary deserts and coffee and after another long wait, my Eton mess arrived......except they were profiterols!!!! Eventually the correct desert arrived. We then went to the bar to pay and the bill was wrong!!! I very rarely complain or write reviews but this experience was shocking. We won't be coming back!!

Car parking is limited and a problem at busy times. Sunday lunch: beef was excellent, top notch. Vegetables (peas, carrot & cabbage) were basic and in short supply. Sparse gravy - extra supplied on request. Yorkshire puddings were cold. At £20.50 for the main course: disappointing. Pudding excellent.

The Ship had a lovely atmosphere and the food was nice. The only thing letting it down really was the speed of service, the ladies were lovely but we were in there quite a while and ended up being the last ones. But nonetheless we would definitely go back as it could have been an off day.
