   Vegan burger was really disappointing. Presentation was terrible, cheap burger bun. Defo not the carmelised apple bun described on the menu. Burger was on a plain white plate along with a few chunky chips. Looked like something you’d get from a burger van! Not worth the money. My son had the 3 course set menu and said it was all very nice. Menu given was not what was provided by open table prior to visit

   Lovely food and good service. The menu was varied and they have nice choices for vegetarians. They are dog-friendly as well which is great. We will definitely eat here again.

   Tempura starter tasted nice but batter really dark brown and greasy and salad dressing was very oily main course Mexican chicken breast very thick and if not for the fresh chilli was bit bland on a good note staff are lovely and place looks brill

   Really disappointed. Booked for lunch and the service was poor. The food was awful and way over priced for what we ordered. Desert was shocking, I couldn’t even get my spoon through the sticky toffee pudding. Will not be back

    Great ambience, not sure everyone wants massive screens with rugby playing. Food was ok at best, fish and some veg had been frozen snd lacked flavour.

    We had the Robert Burns Menu and the food was very good was not disappointed at all. The bar was very quiet maybe turn the music down a little bit.

    Dont mess with a classical! We both ordered steak pie with hand cut chips and seasonal vegetables. What we received was more like a soup. The meals were, bizarrely, served in a large bowl. This resulted in the food being completely drowned in a watery, tasteless gravy that half filled the large bowl. The steak pieces were tough and the fries (the bought in, frozen variety rather than hand cut as advertised) were saturated in so much gravy I couldn't eat them. On the plus side, I did enjoy the carrots that were having a swim in the steak soup. The waiter did ask if the meals were OK after noticing a lot had been left and did say he would pass on our comments to to the chef but i have my doubts that changes to the presentation will be made. Having recently moved to the area I was looking forward to trying The Urbanist. Based on this experience we will keep looking for a decent lunch venue.

    As always when we visit the Urbanist it’s a very pleasant time, filled with good food, great service and a nice atmosphere. The ambience & service is always 10/10. Drinks are made and served in a timely manner. Good selection of cocktails to choose from and I really enjoy that they have different specials on each time I visit. Food is always a great selection and served piping hot. Portions are more than enough & I do believe even though it is one of the pricier places in town that it is value for money & worth every penny. I’ve visited the Urbanist with friends for cocktails, with family for a meal and on date nights and each time it’s exceeded my expectations.

    We arrived at The Urbanist and were warmly greeted. My friend and I were presented with the menu and our drinks order taken. A short time later our drinks were served and our food order taken. The man who served us was so polite and friendly and made us feel so welcome. Our food arrived really quickly and it was delicious. My friend ordered Pate followed by Firecracker Chicken, I on the other hand ordered Chicken Tempura followed by Mac and Cheese. Both meals were delicious and the girls who served them were lovely. The interior is very well decorated and the seating very comfortable a nice warm ambiance in fact. My friend and I are looking forward to a return visit and trying other items on the very varied menu. Well worth a visit.

    Christmas dinner was crap, also got a beef burger instead of a chicken burger but was that was nice, just a bit awkward. Wouldn't recommend ordering the Christmas dinner. I think staff know it's crap hence why they don't ask when clearing if everything was ok. So again awkward.

    Food was amazing. Table of 9 of us and everything was handled perfectly. Polite staff. Definitely will be back. Asked for halal chicken in advance and they ordered it in for us which suited perfectly as 2 members of the group could only eat halal. Definitely will be back. DJ set up about 8 and was great music playing, very chill vibes.

    We have eaten here several times before and decided to visit on my wife's birthday. Menu completed changed. Poor vegan / veggie options. Service variable. Asked what we would like to drink before we had removed our coats, and then again before we had the wine list. Then had to wait fifteen minutes to order drinks after we had the wine list. My wife asked for the vegan menu and was told that they had to reduce vegan options when the last chef left. Food was ok, but nothing inspiring. Very much doubt if we will return

    Not very impressed. Had to request separate menus for drinks and desert. These weren't offered to us. After ordering my drink someone came around to say they don't the particular glamour I wanted and had brought a bottle of alcohol for me to smell and see I will like. NO! Ordered something different which was OK. Main courses were alright, however chips were cooked from frozen and the homemade chicken nuggets from the kids menu were shop bought, as well. Kids dessert was churros and they were just under cooked. Sticky toffee pudding wasn't great either. Service was rather erratic, the place was literally empty and we were rushes as if they had 20 tables waiting. A shame as it has a really nice atmosphere otherwise.

    We arrived at 8pm. We were rushed through our meal and asked to see dessert menu at 8:50 to be told the kitchen had closed. Would have been good to know that in advance. Steak was served with oven chips, curry was served with shop bought chutney and poppadom. Disappointing visit. Wouldn't go back. Lacked atmosphere although not surprised only 3 tables filled on a Friday night!

    I'm really sad to be leaving a bad review, but after booking a table for my birthday dinner I'm just so disappointed in the whole evening. From the start we were placed away from the main restaurant, from what we can assume was overbooking. The area was literally right next to the full screen tv playing rugby and the pool table which was being used by a group. I did ask if we could move tables but was told the restaurant was fully booked and I felt the manager was angry at me for even asking - after another request from another member of our group a divider was pulled out between the dining table and the pool table. When more of our table arrived they felt the reception was positive until they mentioned the table name and just told "upstairs" - in a dismissive tone. Two main courses of firecracker chicken were sent back as we just couldn't eat them due to the taste ( the waitress informed us that a lot of people had told her this) - yet no apology was offered. The service was pretty bad, multiple people asking us the same question over and over. The lights kept going off throughout the meal as someone obviously tried to adjust the brightness elsewhere. My friend ordered a steak and could only eat half due to it being so fatty. When it came to the bill we were initially charged for the two mains which were sent back, before we again spoke to the manager and they were removed. The waitress then tried to charge the table next to us for our bill and then made the mistake again and tried to charge us for a complete other table ! I think the restaurant obviously tried to make the best of a situation by sitting us upstairs but it was very much a bad decision to sit a formal dinner table next to the pool table for a start and it went quickly downhill from there. I'm especially upset as I've had really good experiences in the past and don't want this to ruin going again in the future. I felt I had to apologise to my friends for having reccomended the place.

    Well the portion sizes for the roast dinner were very small two wee bits of meat. My sweet came which was sticky toffee pudding came and it was cold. My mothers Eton mess came in a glass instead of a bowl . The staff need training on how to serve plates of food you don’t pass the food over the table you go round to where the people are sitting. Also cutlery always goes on the left not the right hand side. The staff were very friendly. You need to up your game.

    Went for lunch, originally booked a table out side as had my shih tzu dog 🐶 with us, as unaware dog was allowed in the bar area with the dog which was great, definitely would book again due to this. Great service and food had a lovely afternoon here very well priced too for lunch, lovely surroundings and decor Would highly recommended this place to all. ☺️

    Mussels and scallops were really nice starters. Partner had delicious chicken burger for main and I had fire cracker chicken, it was nice but just a bit over powering with teryiaki sauce. Cocktails really good. Only issue we felt was servers not giving us a moment to look at the menu, when seated we were asked what drinks and I asked for cocktail menu and the waitress stood and waited, I said I would need a couple of minutes to decide, she still waited at the table so felt a bit pressured. Then before our drinks had even arrived we were asked if we were ready to order food, we weren’t, less than two minutes later we were asked again if we were ready to order food, we still weren’t, third time we were asked I still didn’t feel ready but just ordered as again felt a bit pressured, honestly I think in less than about 5 minutes we were asked four times if we were ready to order drink/food. When food arrived twice we were asked if the food was okay, must just be miscommunication between staff as we had already been asked. The staff, and especially the waitress who served us, genuinely had lovely service and were very polite, friendly and good at their job I just felt to begin with we were really being rushed to order - it would be good to have a menu available on the website too and at least we’d have been able to have a look beforehand. Overall a good experience but just a bit rushed to order and not given much chance to read menu.

    Staff lovely,only reason Mark down slightly,we were asked if want drink before we had even seated at our table,so bit too enthusiastic. Good was superb and plentiful. Waiter who served us was attentive but not too intrusive. Would definitely go back.
