The Washerwoman is on Glasnevin Hill (called locally Washerwoman's Hill due to the local story of many washerwomen out on the hill with their mangles etc washing clothes in the Tolka river!). It's been a well-loved and treasured restaurant in the area for years now, and is housed in a charming stone cottage which dates in part from 1700.

There will be a strong range of quirky and every day (!) wines befitting of a neighbourhood restaurant, which makes for a special occasion, or a casual dining experience. Given the locale and the fact that we hope to welcome families, there are exciting, healthy and accessible foods for kids (plus some little quirks to keep them interested, engaged and most importantly, occupied!), a host of diner classics, and a particularly extensive steak selection. We are working with some of our favourite craft butchers to create our own aging room and source some amazing salt-aged meats.

The food was excellent and presented beautifully. I was part of a group of five, and we were offered the group menu with minimal fuss. The service was great and I really love the decor of the restaurant. I will certainly be returning again.

We were a table of 7 enjoyed the food, servers were really nice and friendly. I was just perplexed with the service charge I do understand that there is a service charge but I found it quite steep it should be discretionary as the restaurant wasn't that busy however we will return.

Wouldn’t go back anytime soon. Food was very average and expected more from this restaurant. Was disappointed leaving and to make it worse had to pay 22€ in tax as the table was for 5 people which you have to pay 12.5% tax. I would not have left this in tips with the quality of food for the price paid. Beer range not great either.

Overpriced for a local restaurant. Glass of wine at €7.50 is ridiculous. This is my third visit and nothing has changed for the better. Overcooked salmon with bones, slow service, no bread offered.
Full house so some people are happy bit not us!

Visited for a late lunch on a Tuesday so didn't expect it to be busy and it wasn't but there was a still a good feel to the place as we arrived. We had a great waitress friendly, helpful but not in your face. The menu offered great variety and we were not disappointed with our choices. Two clear plates. Will be VERY happy to return.

The food was amazing, delicious and magical. Only magic could result in a soft egg inside crispy light tempura batter. Go to this restaurant if you want to be wowed.

The Washerwoman was one of only a few well reviewed restaurants near our hotel. They were kind enough to seat us early as the botanical gardens had closed and it was a little chilly out. The restaurant seemed a little more upscale based on the size and decor, making me feel a little out of place with my baby and dress, however the staff were welcoming, and worked well as a team. As more tables filled I was surprised to see a lot of families with young children. The entrees were 20-25, and the food was outstanding. I had a pea and bacon soup which was smooth and nicely spiced. The burger was huge and well-prepared. Some other members of my party had the chicken with hash. I also enjoyed the cocktails, particularly the dark passion which was lightly fruity but not too sweet, and old fashioned which had a slightly larger dash of bitters than I was used to, but didn't overpower the drink. Good food, nice bar, great staff, head over after your trip to the gardens and you won't be disappointed.

Food was extremely overpriced but I could get over that if it was nice. The pork fillet was tough and just came with mash and a rhubarb sauce , scandoulas at 25 euro. Nachos were poor as were the chicken wings and the rhubarb crumble was like something a child would make . The waiting staff are very friendly and attentive but it is not a restaurant I would ever go back to .

Lovely meal here. Early bird menu. All the food was delicious. Not much choice for vegetarians (although a nice looking veg burger on main menu also). Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely will be back.

Lovely restaurant with excellent food and just the right ambiance . Really enjoyed the two courses we had - just couldn’t fit in a full pudding but they were obliging to offer just a scoop of ice cream. These guys know what they do well so don’t expect an exhaustive menu. Less is definately more . Hope to visit again.

Food was top class.
The bread and butter pudding with whiskey sauce was as near to heaven as you can get.
Slight let down was service been slow but forgiven by quality of food.

We really enjoyed our meal at The Washerwoman, but this was made even better by the stellar service we received from the staff. It was a busy Saturday night, but the staff took this in their stride and service was efficient and friendly without being hurried. Loved the local chorizo, which added a lovely smokiness to the seafood chowder. Recommended.

Food mostly very nice but expensive. The restaurant was half empty and I think this is because of the cost. If this restaurant had an 'early bird ' like The winding stair it would be packed. The staff are lovely, the ambience is great and cosy. Lemon desert to die for but €27 for 3 scallops is too much and indictitive of our crazy 'boom times'

We had a 3pm booking on Sunday for lunch but was disappointed with the menu, it was more breakfast orientated, a brunch menu, think maybe your evening menu could start earlier especially at the weekends.
