The service is extraordinary---knowledgeable and attentive.
We were there for a special occasion. Highly recommend.
Food and service were excellent. Highly recommend!
Excellent service and nice menu selections.
Run to this restaurant. Everything about it is incredible. Denise is the best!
Our latest favorite Turkish restaurant in NYC: great food, lovely owner, terrific value. Highly recommended.
I chose this restaurant because it was close to the theatre, hoping it would be okay. It was much more than okay — great service, terrific food, and a quiet serene atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Location worked well for us since we had a theater show nearby. Warm welcome, romantic lighting and decor was very inviting. They also have a small backyard where we sat. Good wine selection and decent prices. Salad and cold appetizers were fresh and delicious. Loved the stuffed grape leaves and eggplant salad. Menu is pretty big, we ordered chicken shish and shrimp casserole, both were perfectly cooked. Our server was very knowledgeable and he made sure that our food came right on time for us to catch our show. Great spot.
Wonderful evening! Gorgeous and delicious food and exceptional service.
We are long time customers from back when they were in the UWS. So happy to have found them back again. Their new location is very pretty. Has a backyard and private rooms. I still miss the old place because we lived right around the corner but will come here again. Especially when going to the LC.
My family and I arrived on time and were seated promptly. The restaurant was mostly empty, but you'd think it was packed with the way our server almost never checked on us. For drinks we ordered ice water and soda, but the water came without ice so we had to ask for it again. Then we had to ask again for sodas because those didn't arrive. Then our meals came out without the appetizers we ordered (we ate dry bread and poured some olive oil for ourselves because no one did it for us.) We were halfway done with our entrees before our server asked if we liked our food, so we asked him to cancel the apps because we were already full and there was no point. He apologized profusely and said we could have them on the house, but we declined. The manager came over and apologized and repeated the same thing, and they brought over the apps that we had declined. We asked for the check soon after. To be honest, considering the quality of our service and the subpar meal, we thought it was kind of pricey. We went to a different middle eastern restaurant the next day for dinner -- Ravagh -- and even though it cost more, we thought it was worth every penny. We don't mind paying for a nice dinner....we just expect the service, ambiance and food quality to match the price tag. With the plethora of mid-east food options in nyc, we won't be returning to Turkuaz in the future. We truly felt like our presence was a burden.
Excellent in every way. Outstanding!
We had an excellent experience dining here. I had never tried Turkish food before, so I was not totally sure what to expect. We got the cold appetizer platter which was absolutely amazing. I could have simply eaten the hummus and baba ganoush as my meal. The grilled chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned and the lamb with baby okra was incredible. For dessert, we ordered peach and chocolate icecream with Turkish coffee which was a great way to end the meal. The only thing I was not totally in love with was the Turkish dumpling dish, but even that was pretty good. The wait staff was knowledgable and friendly. We left a jacket behind and they were very helpful in returning it to us. After spending a week in NYC, this was the meal that stood out to me the most.
We ate pre theatre out on the delightful back patio. We were offered a tasting of Turkish wines to help us choose. Our food was delicious, deeply flavorful and perfectly cooked (chicken chops and salmon wrapped in vine leaves). The staff was attentive and helpful. In a city of endless dining choices, we’ll return to Turkuaz.
The food was truly wonderful but the service was just terrible. Smiling but oh so very very slow
Great place to catch a meal before a 7pm show. We came for a birthday and the guys came and sang.
Must get the branzino and appetizer platter. Great meal!
Long story short, the restaurant couldn't decide who our waiter was. One of the waiters was kind and competent. The other waiter screwed up our order several times. Even then, the replacement salmon was undercooked. Then they dramatically overcharged us for lots of items we didn't order. It took a long time to get the bill sorted and the manager/owner did nothing to offer amends.
The desserts were good and the rest of the meal was fairly tasty. The location is great, but I wouldn't recommend anyone go until they get their service sorted out.
The food was incredible but our service was unacceptable. Our reservation could not be located when we arrived. Appetizers that we did not order were brought to our table not once but twice. Our server took our order, wrote it down, then returned to the table to ask for our order a second time. He had to be reminded to bring our wine. It appeared that the other servers were much better fit to the job than ours.
A Westside gem. Excellent food and attentive service.
The best Turkish food. Service and ambiance was awesome. Specially sitting outside in the back was Amazing.
The food was tasty. The service was a bit off. One server forgot that potatoes were included and then added a rice on the side along with french fries, when the dish called for roasted potatoes. Overall, a nice restaurant.
Food, service and ambience was great. We will return!
Yummy food, nice portions, but...where was the sprinkle of sumac on the salad or elsewhere?. I thought it was missing a certain taste, maybe too American-ized & withholding the spices left me feeling it could've been better 😋
Food was great. I only wish they had Turkish wine in stock.
I was familiar with Turkuaz when they were on the Upper West Side. They have now moved to 53rd Street and this was my first time at the new location. The food was fresh and reasonably priced, excellent for sharing. However, they did not have the zucchini pancakes (a disappointment) and they no longer have the fantastic shepherd's bread with the sesame seeds which set them apart from other middle eastern/turkish restaurants. Instead they served plain pita, which paled in comparison. Bring back the delicious bread and I'll be back.
Loved this restaurant so much we are there for the first time on Saturday night and then returned again on Tuesday, 3 days later. Denise, the owner is a delight and takes great pride in the food and restaurant. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. GO!
Service was excellent. They even gave us a thank-you dessert. Would return.
New restaurant- really great. Exciting menu. Food fantastic. Staff very courteous and appropriate. Excellent for pre-show dinner. We had large group and they made it special.
Great new location. Food was fabulous and the wine list nicely complemented the Turkish food. The decor makes for wonderful evening. Service was spot on and very willing to help us understand our choices and even make recommendations.
What a delightful dining experience! Welcomed warmly at the door, we found the service to be attentive throughout the night. We had stuffed grape leaves that were flavorful with a hint of spice — really good! Spinach pastries were crisp and delicious. Turkuaz Sis, a kebab with cubes of marinated lamb, and the Vegetable Casserole with lamb were our entrees; and they were every bit as good as the appetizers. We had Baklava that was not overly sweet with aromatic fresh Turkish tea. A nice wine selection too. Everything was reasonably priced. A treasure.
Everything was really perfect--a neighborhood gem. Fantastic and interesting selections, especially the hot and cold appetizers. Main courses--don't miss the dumplings!--were so savory. The wit staff could not have been better, the owner/manager was a terrific host. I will go back next week.
We enjoyed the 7 appetizer platter very much - enough for a meal! Although the restaurant lists a prix fixe menu on the website we were told there is none. We had 2 lamb dishes - one with okra and the other was called Sultan’s Delight. The Baklava was excellent and we finished with Turkish coffee, though the medium sweet was hardly sweet at all, next time I’d order the sweet version.
Cozy quiet restaurant with delicious food. Ambience was lovely! Service was phenomenal. Extra attention when waiter found out it was my husband's birthday, he came out with b'day dessert even though we hadn't ordered any. He went beyond his duty of service. He showed compassion and interest! Would highly recommend this Turkish gem of a restaurant. Outstanding!!!
Delicious food brought happy memories of our trip to Turkey. Nice ambience and attentive service made for a lovely lunch.
Outstanding restaurant, terrific service, a new neighborhood gem.
Had a great dinner here with friends. We actually thought our reservation was at their other location, where there is a full bar; this site only offers wine and beer. Nevertheless, the food and service were amazing! Nicely paced, well prepared. The waiter boned our whole branzino fish at table, which was so nice. We will return.
We selected Turkuaz from reviews of restaurants convenient to Studio 54 and were extremely pleased with our pre-theatre dinner. Based on excellent suggestions from our waiter, three of us shared an appetizer of delicious babaganoush, an order of incredible grilled octopus (a special of the day — perfectly prepared) and two orders of stuffed cabbage. We would highly recommend Turkuaz to others and look forward to a return visit.
We were celebrating my granddaughter's 8th birthday. They were extremely friendly when entering and we were seated at a table in the back of the restaurant. We had chicken kabobs and chicken sultan and they were both excellent. When we return to NYC, we will definitely go back.
The food and service were superb! Definitely will go back.
since the last time we were here a couple of weeks ago, the service has somewhat improved and the place does not seem to have its act together as yet. and waiting for courses seems rather long. the food is very good as is the wine so we will come again albeit at a future time.
