Ukiyo is a modern East Asian restaurant in the heart of Dublin City's Creative Quarter. Featuring a full bar and lounge, it is the perfect spot for meeting a date or getting together with friends.

We try to keep our vegetable and fruit purchases local and seasonal. Our Black Angus beef is certified biodynamic, supplied by Trevor Harris in Kildare. All our fish supplied by Kishfish is organically farmed and our pork is from Crowe’s Farm in Tipperary.

    A friend and I were told when we walked in that they did not take walk ins, bookings only. So we left and having really wanted some sushi I booked through OpenTable for 5 minutes later. When we walked back in the guy that had told us no walk ins was visibly annoyed. He then proceeded to tell us it had been very busy earlier and they were short staffed. Maybe if he’s explained that initially we would have left. I am aware of staffing issues in service industry. Only one server seemed to be in good humour. Guy with a moustache. We saw more people as walk ins and were seated. Probably wouldn’t go back. Food was good though.

    I loved Ukyio. We were greeted by lovely staff. Two of our four person party were over 30 mins late. Nobody minded. We were allowed to keep our table for the whole night which was a wonderful bonus. The food was so fresh and delicious. Really interesting. We had great wine and cocktails. The bill was very reasonable. The staff were kind, always available (which is unusual these days), and very knowledgeable about the food and quantities we'd need. I'd highly recommend the place and look forward to going back

    We were seated outside. Unfortunately it just looked like an add on from their normal outdoor seating area because there were no place settings set up or heaters. We were freezing and the staff kept forgetting to come over. We had to keep requesting the stuff they forgot like to wipe down the table, cutlery or napkins.

    I always have a great time at Ukiyo. It was a lovely day yesterday so we sat outside - which was well setup as the staff were just as attentive. The food as usual was superb. We ordered Korean fried chicken, Tuna nachos and Ebi sake teriyaki maki sushi. Can’t fault anything about the food or the timeframe it arrived in. All the food was beautifully prepared and tasted fresh. The only downside I would note is the price - particularly of the sushi. But In saying this, it’s comparative with any other Japanese restaurant in Dublin. Just be prepared to spend about €60 for 2 people. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

    Wide variety of starters and dishes to share. Maybe missing more choice for main courses but all we ate was tasty (I was surprised to see "tuna tacos" which were actually nice)

    Really yummy food and cocktails - would definitely recommend. Staff were courteous however could bit a bit more attentive, we were waiting for a while to get the bill and then were almost charged more for our food by mistake. The decor was nice, but ambience was a little lacking. Would definitely return for the food.

    The manager was extremely rude when we asked to split the bill between 4 people for business purposes. Quote “I’m not dealing with you all, I don’t have the time.” 175€ on a meal. When we pay the bill, we expect to be dealt with in a professional and decent manner. He also made the waitress feel extremely uncomfortable and put us in an awkward position. Other than that, the food and ambience was great as always.

    Honestly the service was the first note of disappointment to be honest. We were seated quickly and waited 30 minutes for our order to be taken when we eventually flagged someone down. The disappointing part was the staff weren’t run off their feet or looked particularly busy but just standing around chatting with each other. They took our order and the food came out within 20 ish minutes and drinks followed a few minutes after. The gyoza and miso were nice but unfortunately the pork bao buns came out also Luke warm on some and cold on others. Just so disappointing and we couldn’t even get the staff to tell them so we just ate some of it. Finally trying to get the bill was another task as I tried multiples time to get anyones attention and when I did they just brought the card machine and looked annoyed when I asked for the bill so I could know what I was paying. We waited for someone to come back but we eventually just walked up to the bar and paid there. I am not usually someone to complain and I am quite understanding of how busy a restaurant can be on Saturday evening but to see the staff just standing around or “making themselves busy” when we were looking to order etc was just frustrating and would put me off coming back.

    The food was excellent but our dining experience wasn't. We were sitting for about 20 minutes before our order was taken, and we received the wrong food to the table. The cocktail mixologist behind the bar was fantastic.

    My first time back in Ukiyo since the long Covid break. Its changed a little - the menu is more sophisticated, but also more expensive unfortunately. But the quality - while always good - has gone up a lot. Its as fun a place to sit in and people watch as it always was.

    The food was delicious and the waiters were very friendly but we did wait over 35 minutes for our food after already waiting 15 minutes to order. That being said, it was delicious and we have already booked to come back in the next month but definitely would like it to be a bit quicker.
