   Mediocre service- though the staff were very pleasant. The place wasn’t busy- surprisingly for a Saturday night. Food was more lunch quality than evening. Very disappointing overall. I wouldn’t go back.

   Service was really poor, we ended up refilling our own water at the bar, very inattentive staff. Dirty plates not cleared away on time before mains. Long delay between starter and mains. Both had a burger and both were overdone, possibly left sitting on pass before being brought to the table. Very disappointing experience.

   I booked and reserved our table with ease on the website. The server showed us to our table and gave us the menus. Good choice of food available and the server served us our coffees first before arriving with our food. The food was very tasty. The server checked in with us a number of times to see if everything was to our satisfaction. The food was good value for money. The restaurant wasn't too busy either or noisy.

   Kids burger was over cooked and burned at the edges. The kids pasta special was different than what was ordered- we were told spag bol and got tagliatelle with tomato sauce. Waitress forgot about our drinks and they only came with the food and there was no drinks order taken from the kids. Disappointing overall, we heard a lot of good reviews. I was looking forward to the burger but it was over cooked and dry.

    The service was really dreadful on Saturday. We were seated and waiting on drinks for at least 30 minutes, despite asking three times if our drinks could be arranged. The standard answer from staff was "they are on the way" - three times!! Our food took almost 50 minutes to arrive and wasn't great when it did come. My dish was almost cold. I wouldn't return again as this venue has gone seriously downhill

    It was Mother’s Day, which is important t to acknowledge. However there were no burgers or club sandwiches available , which we only discovered when we were asked for our order - as opposed to when we first arrived so we would have the choice to stay or leave. The food was clearly tired and wilted - like the pleasant but overworked staff - the dishes were over sauced and over cooked - chicken wings, prawns, and chicken burgers. The bill averaged €28 a head (no alcohol) for four adults and one child for mediocre food - 1.25 courses. We have eaten here before and have enjoyed it but this experience will make us think twice about booking.

    Absolutely Abysmal Mothers Day Dinner. Where to start, we have been to Union previous times and it’s always been okay so thought we would at least get through a Mother’s Day dinner, unfortunately it will be the last visit. I totally understand it being busy and we left a substantial tip to the waiting staff as any blame sits with management in my opinion. Highlights from our experience (group of 4): - Forgot starters - 40mins for kids chicken & chips to arrive - wrong wine order - asked for Heineken Zero, got pint of full Heineken (extremely dangerous) - Asked for sauces on side of mains, got sauces all over mains, sent back - Got served my main randomly 15mins before my wife or mother and I’m sitting there eating and they have nothing, no bread while waiting so long even - No water or asked if wanted anything to drink Just Got the bill and left. One of those vote with our feet and simply not return.

    Party of 11 people, rang the restaurant that we would be arriving 30mins late and although table was booked three days earlier it was still not ready and we had to wait. Service was awful, we were served by 5 different staff, food arrived after 30mins but we had to wait for cutlery to be arranged another 10mins, the knife dropped and was brought in to the table instead of bringing a clean one.. orders were mixed, the kids food did not arrive until 1hr later and was told it’s not available anymore. Food was nice but service was a complete disaster.

    For Mother’s Day we waited over an hour for food. I have never been impressed by the service times here. The food was excellent however and our waiter was very nice and apologetic with drinks taken off the bill. For great food and atmosphere it is a pity about the service.

    Union Cafe continue to struggle with any uplift in business. Service took 55 minutes to serve burgers and wings… kitchen and serving team not in synch at all and totally overwhelmed. Service team are very sweet but struggle (third visit in 6 months) Many issues facing restaurants now but we’ll wait before booking again

    The food was awful, I didn’t complain as it was Mother’s Day and I didn’t want to upset my mother. My burger was so small and burnt, my mother’s sausages were inedible and her eggs were done incorrectly having asked for them to be done a specific way. Never again!

    Family brunch for Mother’s Day. They were very busy and obviously understaffed. The level of competence was pretty variable; our primary waitress was great but the kids delivering the food and beverages not so much. Lots of coffee in the saucer sort of thing. The kitchen was obviously slammed - it was a full 40 minutes from when we placed our order to when the food arrived. One set of eggs that were ordered fried arrived poached but we didn’t dare send them back or we’d have been eating them for dinner. Once it finally arrived the food was hot and very good. Didn’t seem like it had been waiting around. I know we didn’t catch them at their best on a very busy day and we were regulars pre-Covid so we’ll definitely be giving them another shot.

    Nobody greeted us as we waited to be seated, just kept walking past. It would have taken no effort to have said, we will be with you shortly. The food was ok: Bacon was chewy rather than crispy or soft, the meal was covered in full size lettuce leaves, not elegant nor practical but overall the taste was fine. My son had the the burger and chips. Chips tasted great and burger was fine. Mum had French toast. It was a bit of a giant doorstop of bread. Again, a bit clumsy but taste was fine. Table service was good. Ambience was good. So although food was nothing special, we really enjoyed our visit.

    We were ignored at our table for at least 30 minutes before the service commenced. Staff were very nice but so laid back I could have left the premises and they would not have noticed! I would say more staff needed and up to speed on past of the day would have been helpful. Overall I would rethink my next visit.

    We went for brunch at 2 on a Saturday. If you didn’t want breakfast things, the menu was quite limited. The food was ok, the fish and chips were good, but the chicken burger and beef burgers were a little dry and the fries over seasoned. The brownies were good, coffee bag average. Staff were nice, but probably wouldn’t go back

    This is in my neighbourhood and well worth a visit. Very quiet as expected on a Monday. We had a really good meal and excellent attentive service. I would highly recommend a visit.

    The service was good and the chicken burgers were very tasty. My wife ordered the zucchini spaghetti which came smaller than a starter and was seriously over priced for what is was. Id have no problem going back for a burger, but my wife wont be returning based on her dining experience unfortunately.

    I'm very aware of the ongoing staffing issues however the service was pretty poor the last couple of times I have been here, I love the restaurant itself and the food is usually good but its always a bit chaotic. I was meeting a friend for a catch up so didn't mind waiting, but after waiting 25 mins of waiting for our coffees we asked about them and were very bluntly told they were 'on the way'. The food took almost an hour which is something to keep in mind if you're hungry/have kids etc. The price of the food is also a lot for what it is, almost 16 euro for a pretty average veggie salad. In saying all of this, I really like the set up of the establishment with the little shops etc, I probably would go back again at some point but the service/staffing just needs a lot of work. As I said I understand the staffing issues completely but its more about how the staff react, e.g if they said 'oh my god we're so sorry you've been waiting so long for your coffees' instead of acting as if we were being rude asking for an update!

    The food was good once we got it BUT the restaurant was SERIOUSLY under staffed. Lot's of front of house watching us with nothing on the table. They made no move to assist the servers and were not pleasant when we went to pay. Not the servers fault but there were only three servers and a barman for the whole restaurant.
