If I could give VCC 10 stars I would! Love that it’s unmarked and you have to ring a bell to get let in. The atmosphere is lovely and you truly feel like you’ve been transported back into the 1920’s. Multiple levels, each with a unique flare. Small place that has great speakeasy music playing. They give you literally a book of cocktails and it explains what era each came from and history behind them - you could sit and read it all night! On top of the amazing cocktails, honestly the food here was SPECTACULAR! The prawns and the Brie are a must! We actually ordered 2 plates of prawns because they were that good. I️ wouldn’t expect the food to be so good at what is marketed as a “cocktail club” but this is a must for anyone traveling through Dublin. I️ would come back to Ireland just to eat and sip at VCC!
Really great for our party of 8, comfy seats, tasty cocktails (My fav. is Rosy & Jim) and quiet enough to have a proper conversation. We did go on a Sunday night though. They also dealt with my allergy (tree nuts) well, despite having a couple of bitters and liqueurs containing walnuts and hazelnuts in the bar.
Very very disappointed with our night on 4/11/17
Poor slow service
Club was freezing cold had to be moved downstairs where it was no better we were absolutely frozen when leaving club
Arrived at 1700 1st Cocktail served at 1745 handed a bill at 1910 which was not requested by me
Did complain waitress said sorry no offer of a complimentary drink or a visit from a supervisor
Not good enough & an unenjoyable experience
We opted for bar seats and had such a great night watching Steve(n) make his cocktail creations. You are blessed with such lovely staff (the bartender & waitress - I'm awful with names but she was graduating the next day!) were just so lovely, helpful and accommodating!
If I was being really fussy on personal preference, a few more gin based choices; particularly in relation to sloe gin & chambord choices, would have been the icing on the cake!
We left early because after ordering/receiving one round of cocktails and food, we never saw our server again to order more. Disappointed, we went to another restaurant and finished our evening. There appeared to be only one server working, but two hostesses for the half empty restaurant.
Really cool place,Our server a young guy was really helpful with lots of knowledge and interest in the drinks. The music is really chilled out blues and old time soul.Very comfortable and different. Each drink is €11.95 which is worth noting as we had 3 drinks each.It would be a spot to go before heading on.
I would highly recommend tho
I brought my girlfriend here for an evening for her birthday as its somewhere she has always wanted to visit. On arrival we were seated in a small corner beside 2 other couples. Menus were brought out, all 3 couples sat for 25minutes without a server coming over and taking an order. When the server eventually did come over there was no apology for the wait. So we placed the order along with the other two couples because what the heck, we wanted to try them out. To be fair when they eventually came they were very good cocktails. Thoroughly enjoyed them so we decided we would stay for another, but the other two couples were not so impressed. The older of the two couples were met at the door on their way out and were offered to have their cocktails on the house because of the wait which i thought well ok, at least they know the wait was bad. The younger of the two couples however who waited longer than the other two did not get their cocktails on the house. We decided to stay for one more anyway but 20minutes later and noone had came back to take another order. The servers walked by us several times and i tried to get their attention but no avail. So we decided enough was enough we would leave. I went to the bar to pay and our server just walked by and said €23.90 and walked on. No please, no thank you, no sorry for the wait and again no on the house cocktails like the older couple. The place was quite funky and cool, the cocktails were amazing but i wont be back due to this shocking service and unfair treatment. Theres more reasonable priced cocktails elsewere in dublin in establishements that would be more than happy to have your custom. An explanation as to why out of 3 couples who sat waiting only one (the older couple) got offered some form of compensation?
This place is quite tricky to find! Once inside, it has a warm atmosphere and a feeling like you're in your granny's parlour. The cocktail list is huge and all are priced the same. It's very difficult to choose, but our waitress was very helpful.
The food varied in quality: the fish was small but excellent. The steak was a bit tough. It was lucky for us that a neighbouring table became free, or we would have struggled to get all four of us eating around one table!
In summary, great for cocktail and drinks, especially if you like something quirky!
I was looking forward to going to the vintage cocktail club for a 1st date as i heard good things about it; however after being there im not so sure; the service was very slow we managed to drinks in 2 hours; we were offred no advice on the many different options on the menu; and the tables were so close together i felt like i was on a date with both tables, overall it was an interesting place I would not hurry back
Super cozy spot with amazing, hand-crafted cocktails. Helpful staff and yummy snacks. I visited solo and it was a great place to enjoy a drink alone. The "secret" door adds a fun element to the experience. Even though this is in Temple Bar, it still seems off the beaten path and not a tourist trap. One of my favorite experiences while in Dublin!
Had drinks here with a friend during our weekend together and we both loved it. Tricky to find but that makes it all the more enchanting when you do! Amazing menu of cocktails with fascinating facts and history. This place is cosy, retro and fun. Great service and cocktails were excellent if a little pricey but we didn’t mind that as if felt like you were paying for something a little special. I only took a star off because our table was next to the kitchen hatch and door which meant we lost a little of the ambience everyone else was experiencing due to busy kitchen and harsh kitchen lighting filtering overall our table but this certainly wouldn’t put me off returning- I would just make sure I booked a different spot. All in all a lovely spot.
Love this place. Great atmosphere. Such an unusual quirky interior, its like stepping back into my granny's "good room"! The cocktails are amazing! The staff are top class, really friendly and extremely helpful. Have recommended to many friends and family and will continue to do so.
Do NOT go here! My friend (visiting from London) & I booked a 10:30pm slot for Sat night. I called early in the day and asked that we not be seated outdoors (it was so cold out) or in a busy area for waitstaff. I had asked for these things when we booked it weeks ago as well but wanted to make sure since it was a special night. We were assured "don't worry! the table you have is one of our best tables!!" We arrived at 10:30 and were the 2nd ppl seated. Our table was DIRECTLY next to the kitchen door for the waitstaff and while the rest of the VCC was dimly lit and beautiful, our table was brightly illuminated by HORRIBLE bright white kitchen lightening whenever the door was opened by the staff (approx every 2 mins). We very nicely asked to be moved to a different table (& also reminded them that we asked for a more private table when booking etc) & the front staff manager was beyond rude telling us there was no where we could move (at least 20+ open tables on our floor alone) & then proceeded to imply we were lying about asking for a more private table & trying to force us to take the bad table at / basically inside the kitchen. after arguing with her for a few minutes we decided these €15 cocktails sitting basically inside the kitchen wasnt worth it & we got up to leave. That's when another manager tried to get us to stay by basically saying the other woman wasn't telling the truth and we could in fact move (but the damage was done after 10 mins of arguing and being called a liar) & we left. So much for a really fun night out at VCC! The staff there are horrible!
