The Winding Stair
Delicious food. Central location & the atmosphere is warm. The staff are very nice. Highly recommend.
Everthing was lovely from start to finish the only negative was the tables were a little squashed together, would highly recommend this restaurant
Delicious food, great service and recommendations - lovely atmosphere.
Exceptional food and delightful service. I will definitely be back.
Lovely setting, yummy food, excellent service and pre-theatre menu really good value, what’s not to like!
We ordered our main courses and not even 5 minutes later they were at our table . I ordered the vegetarian my friend ordered the lamb . these could not have been cooked fresh . The vegetarian dish was more like a starter size and lukewarm. The lamb was warm not hot and dry . Obviously sitting around for a while! For the prices you are charging I expect freshly cooked hot food. Very disappointed with our meal .
People standing in front of us waiting for their table with their backs at us for the entire period.
Table was dark, in the corner and they were not willing to change it. Staff was watching football on their phone instead of taking care of customers.
Fantastic location, beautiful building and interior, great service and staff (thank you Fiona) and most importantly delicious food with very generous portions. Wonderful twists on simple dishes with top quality produce. 100% would return and 100% would reccomend. Thank you for a lovely evening overlooking the Liffey
Lovely food and drink and very relaxing and enjoyable lunch.
The steak was delicious with the garlic butter. It was a great night with my girlfriend.
Good and service are very good, and the view of the river nice. It’s a little pricey and the staff are very good. The food is different from regular pub food.
Amazing service as always. Knowledgeable waiters who were unobtrusive. The bacon slipper was so salted though, that while the first two mouthfuls were delicious, the two of us that ordered it were unable to finish it. The wait staff missed the opportunity for us to raise our concern by not asking if everything was ok when removing two plates with substantial pieces of bacon still on it. The leek and potato soup was also quite bland, but then I suppose I should not have expected much from this overdone dish.
Despite these slight let downs, I will still be returning as the other starters, smoked eel croquettes, were fine and the mackerel was truly excellent.
Unfortunately, i was underwhelmed by the food, i had high expectations and they were not met, portions too big for lunch time, food lacked favour, pork was tough and needed a steak knife to cut it. Such a pity when it's such a lovely location, staff were without fault very attentive
As we had reserved the table we were given a table by the window with a fabulous view over the River Liffey/Halfpenny Bridge. The lady serving us was very friendly and attentive. Food was tasty while a bit expensive for what you got.
The food was delicious! Many kinds of fish. The desert was great too. It is a bit pricey comparing to other restaurants, but it is worth it. Make a reservation, they are busy on the weekend.
Great spot and great food. The waitress wasn't the best but overall a great experience.
Lovely room, good atmosphere, relaxed but efficient service. Food is outstanding if a little pricey.
Winding Stair was absolutely wonderful! The service was excellent - friendly and informative!! All of our dishes were divine - so many different and wonderful combinations!! Don’t miss it!!
We had a great window table on the second floor. The food was grreat and the waiter appropriately friendly. Convenient location.
Not the cheapest place to eat, wine €44 tad expensive for Marlborough Sauvignon but overall, a jolly good meal.
Delicious food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere. It’s our favourite restaurant in Dublin for a reason! Always a delight to dine there.
Creative menu pairings and beautiful plating. Portions are generous. It was too good not to eat, but a little less entree and I would have had room for dessert. Fab wine list! Enjoyed everything about our evening. Thank you all the staff at The Winding Stair!
Delicious, modern, outstanding
Great setup. Lovely food
We had a lovely 1st anniversary dinner here. Great food and service.
Amazing experience on all measures. Food. Service. Ambience. View.
Everything was lovely but our waitress in particular was excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable and made some excellent recommendations.
Across the board amazing. The wait staff were the most knowledgeable and engaging, the food incredible the wine list extensive and fairly priced. All in a picturesque setting overlooking the river
We came to this restaurant for special night out with my daughter. Although at first I felt the wait staff were a bit pushy once they realized we were not going to be rushed they settled in. Every bite was delicious.
Meeting cousins from USA in the restaurant and were seated at the window over looking half'penny bridge which was a great start. Soup was homemade and oysters great too. The pork belly, Salmon, and Cod were cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Deserts of Pear Tart, bread and butter pudding and cheese board were greatly enjoyed. Drinks were ginger ale, Irish strawberry wine and water and service was extremely friendly, knowledgeable regarding drinks and a very relaxed enjoyable evening. The secret to this hidden gem is the book shop below and the books on the shelves in the dining room. The industrial feel enhances the older room and that ambiance is only available in very few places.
Ate in early evening and availed of the pre-theatre menu which had a selection of wonderful options at a good price. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable who gave a great wine recommendation.
My wife and I had a delicious meal and were very satisfied at the end.
The Winding Stair is one of my favorite restaurants in the world but I haven’t been back in a decade. This recent visit brought back all the happy memories I had in this place. Everything is as delightful as it always was—perhaps even better, if that’s possible!
For our first night in Dublin, it created a perfect night and a welcome to a city we won’t soon forget.
My third visit and each one better than the last. My go to dining experience in Dublin.
A casual atmosphere with very good cooking - not "haute" but honest and very good. Highly professional staff. The noise level was high - largely due to two tables.
The restaurant is in I perfect location overlooking the river. The staff were so friendly and enthusiastic about the food and the city. The food was excellent, definitely worth visiting if you’re in Dublin.
Great location, nice and warm atmosphere and interior. Really friendly staff and superb food.
Fabulous food, service and atmosphere with a tremendous wine list! Would highly recommend The Winding Stair to anyone looking for an evening of incredible wining and dining. Thank you for making our evening special!
Nice Irish restaurant that blends the traditional and the new, both in terms of the food and the room. Modern presentations using local ingredients, with sources for all ingredients proudly displayed. Dishes were innovative and interesting, while still grounded in the comfort of tradition Irish cuisine. Lovely room overlooking the river. The staff were friendly and fun, and knowledgeable about the wine and beer. I'd love to go back.
