The Winding Stair is an award winning Irish restaurant overlooking Dublin's famous Ha'Penny bridge. The restaurant originally became a Dublin landmark in the 1970's named after a Yeats poem, giving it some true local history. It opened again in 2006 and became what it is today. Serving micro-brewery beer and food produce sourced from Artisans from the Island The Winding Staircase enjoys sourcing locally. Serving dishes from Marcoom's Irish buffalo mozzarella on their A la carte to roasted pumpkin wedges on their lunch menu there is a great twist on Irish dishes throughout the day.

I selected no for referring to a friend as the food was very expensive for what we got. Although it was very nice I wouldn't say it was the best meal I've had. I don't mind paying high prices for a meal but when I do I expect to be blown away by it.

I saw an article on "The Winding Stair" in an in-flight magazine and decided to book via OpenTable.
We had an excellent lunch of traditional Irish food with a modern twist that was delicious.
Served by charming and friendly staff we were looked after very well indeed and would recommend the restaurant without hesitation. Lovely food, staff and ambience.

We always have a great experience when we go to The Winding Stair. The food is delicious and inventive, you always get something different, and the staff are attentive without being intrusive, and very friendly. The restaurant also has a great atmosphere, it’s busy and bustling which I prefer over a restaurant that is dead, and everyone just seems to be enjoying their evening. I always recommend The Winding Stair to friends who are visiting Dublin and want to go out for a nice meal.

Nice staff. Nice food. Ambience is great. Would not go often there though as it is a bit expensive for me. But fine if you can splash around a hundred for 3-course, 2 glasses of wine, a cup of tea and coffee.

Birthday meal for my hubby. If you’re looking for something a little more fine dining but in a relaxed setting you will love it. We had a lovely meal and the waitress was very helpful in choosing a wine, we were able to taste a few to help us decide.

Excellent meal in the former second hand bookshop from my youth. Sweet potato soup with lemongrass. Beef cheeks with black pudding scotch egg and turnip mash. Both excellent. My only caveat was the price - 46 euro for the cheapest starter , main course and a glass of wine seems a bit high.

Not happy with the service charge of 12and half % on food and drink for 5 people. We had to vacate the table at 8pm because we had booked for 6pm yet on the pre theatre menu it states tables must be vacated by 8.15. I know it states on the email we only had the table for two hours but because we had seen 8.15 on the menu but unfortunately we were told no it was 8pm.

Excellent meal. Pre theatre menu was excellent value. Venison carpaccio to start, pigs cheek main, and chocolate tart were all very tasty. Good service too.

Lovely building, up the Winding Stairs into a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. No need for loud, intrusive music. With delicious, really tasty, wonderful food and wine, great staff, no hurrying you out the door, this is the eating place we will make sure we go back to. Thank you Winding Stairs.

I was looking for a special restaurant at which to celebrate a 31st birthday and found the WInding Stair on Open Table and decided to take a chance and try it. The restaurant exceeded all of my expectations. the setting was beautiful - a second floor dining room overlooking the river was understated yet warm and inviting. The staff was welcoming and attentive and the menu was broad and interesting. we ordered 3 appetizers for two people in addition to our mains. Each dish was more delicious that the previous one. In short, it was an AMAZING find and i cant wait to go back.

We visited for a birthday. Lovely space overlooking the river. Food is excellent. Fresh, organic, locally sourced and beautifully presented. It was a weeknight, but very busy with a couple of large groups of business diners. Each dining level is small, so a lot of tables crammed into a small area which when busy, degrades the experience because of the noise level. It was tough to carry on a conversation and the wait staff was spread thin. Would try again next time we’re in town, and hope for a quieter night.

The Winding Stair is a lovely dining space located upstairs and looking out onto the River Liffey. The restaurant has a very comfortable feel to it, cosy warm, muted lighting and a very relaxing atmosphere. They have a fairly narrow menu with good meat, fish and vegetarian options. I had the poached smoked haddock, cooked with onions and served on a creamy cheddar mash which was a delicious dish. The vegetarian dish on the night – potato cakes with mushrooms, kale and other ingredients was also excellent. There is a good selection of interesting wines available by the glass. We enjoyed excellent, friendly, professional and efficient service. The food is reasonably priced and I would be always happy to recommend this restaurant to friends.

Last minute reservation during the super busy holiday dining season in Dublin (and a Friday evening to boot). Small space at the top of (wait for it) a Winding Staircase, and quite loud but also quite packed, so understandable.

I chose the holiday menu and was delighted with all three courses. My waiter suggested a delicious wine by the glass to pair and was attentive without being intrusive.

Great meal! Great service!
