The Winding Stair
All the staff were really lovely and very attentive. Food was delicious and service surprisingly efficient given how busy the small dining room was. Would thoroughly recommend.
The Winding Stair is a firm favourite. I eat here every time I visit Dublin. This time, we ordered off the pre-theatre menu which was excellent value for money. The starters and mains were perfectly cooked and the portion sizes were quite generous. We had friendly, efficient service. I really can't recommend this place enough!
Wonderful food, wonderful service, and love the book store downstairs.
Very attentive staff, excellent food and great ambience.
Relaxed atmosphere with fantastic food. Very happy
I took a friend for a birthday lunch knowing she liked very good food and especially fish. I'm a vegetarian. She eats out a good deal in good restaurants and said this was 'the best lunch I've ever had out'. I was delighted the choice of The Winding Stair worked out so well for both of us. My vegetarian options were excellent. The sun shining through the huge Georgian windows, with the Liffey drifting by, and the charming and unfussy waiter made for a lovely, long, interlude.
I've recommended The Winding Stair previously, but will be doing so with renewed enthusiasm!
Thank you for a very successful treat.
It is a great restaurant. Enjoyed some nice Irish wine. Server was good and give good recommendations.
Food was incredible! Server, setting and sunshine in top floor dining room were grand.
Fabulous meal. Deffo recommend. I think the main menu price is a little too expensive but the early bird is very reasonable. I would suggest a better vegetarian option and a revamp of the bathrooms. But defo be back and defo recommend
Fantastic food, Grand Service, Spectacular View of the Liffey
Excellent food! Excellent service! Nice cozy environment! We were so glad that people introduced this local restaurant to us!! Highly recommend!
Ben our waiter was both knowledgeable and professional he was most helpful from seating to advising the menu. Our first time there and we struck up a conversation with fellow diners and made new friends. Wonderful evening
Gorgeous food, fantastic "homey" feel with the bookshelves & store.
This place was incredible and the staff were very friendly. One of the best meals I’ve had in a while.
Food was excellent as was the service. My soup and entree both had a similar cream base and my waiter made sure I was aware of it. My wife and I enjoyed the experience very much. Reasonable wine by the glass.
Everything we had was delicious and the servers and ambience was just lovely.
Never disappoints! One of my favourite places in dublin, fantastic food, great service, very reasonable early bird deals!
A great restaurant that accommodated our group easily. Food was amazing, - fresh, and delicious. Atmosphere was lovely - a beautiful room. Service was excellent. A little bit pricey tbh.
Thanks for the great food and hospitality! Special thanks to Susann!
Very lovely place, service and food were at the top !
Food was great. Views of Dublin fab. But what really did it for me was the staff. They were wonderful and seemed really passionate about the place and it showed.
Food was excellent if a little pricey. Service was excellent. Found it hard to hear each other times as we were under a speaker and there was music on even though the place was full and noisy enough on it's own.
It was my first time in this restaurant and I really liked it. Would come again soon. The service is amazing, I loved the food, atmosphere, felt really good. Thank you
The food is fantastic and there’s an excellent wine selection. The haddock poached in milk was especially good and the bread pudding dessert was delicious.
Food delicious, service brilliant. A lovely twist on some beautiful Irish dishes! Loved it as much second time around.
A lovely, quirky restaurant in a great location in the city centre, overlooking the River Liffey and the Ha'penny Bridge. The restaurant decor is very nice an the ambience was good, although the tables were quite squashed together in places.
The food was great and the menu was very different! A modern take on traditional Irish food.
The service was friendly although it did feel very rushed at times.
I would certainly recommend as a meal out with friends, family or on a date, when visiting Ireland. The menu was quite pricey but I've learnt that Dublin is quite pricey in general!
Average food with Michelin starred prices. Presumably due to its location. Had better food in lesser priced places. However service was great .
Outstanding food and service. Would recommend and return. Visited early evening so noise level was low compared to previous meals at later time.
Best meal I have had in Ireland, and one of the best ever. Inventive cuisine, perfectly prepared and presented. Warm, friendly service. Incredible location! Only downside is the noise... dining room decibel level can probably be detected by NASA. Suggest that the restaurant look into noise reduction options? A shame to that to enjoy this wonderful food one has to shout/lip-read all night.
Sensational food, friendly helpful staff, great location, excellent value - cannot be faulted !
Amazing, memorable food & service. Thank you for having us!
Food was excellent and at a great location. Restaurant itself is a little small and you are very close to other tables, but I would recommend.
A gorgeous meal for 7. We had a great table, great food, great service and a great night. The seafood platter starter was my favourite item on the menu, but everything was just delicious.
I felt that it was very expensive and the food was reasonable, the service was good and the staff were friendly and attentive. I think that the noise level was loud with background music intrusive. On the plus side it's a lovely venue and has great views across the river and the Ha'penny Bridge. I guess the restaurant has to pay city centre rent prices so they have a lot of overheads to manage which makes Dublin expensive to eat out in. I had a gift voucher so was glad of that - but I won't be rushing back.
Our second visit. Stunning food and presentation. Will be back on our next visit to Dublin.
This place was nice and low-key, very relaxed and elegant. Maybe a little pretentious, but not overwhelmingly so. I had the seafood chowder with chorizo, which was delicious, and the onion polenta with white asparagus, which was kind of dry - would not recommend. A really nice glass of Malbec complemented the meal nicely. My dinner companion enjoyed her Megrim very much. Overall a nice experience - would repeat, but avoid the polenta.
Everything great but the food, which was indifferent and expensive. Atmosphere and service were great.
Wonderful restaurant! So interesting. It’s small so it’s pretty noisy. The winding stair is no joke, it a steep staircase but well worth the climb. My husband had the steak and was raving about it the whole night I had the vegetarian polenta with white asparagus and it was delicious. The wine list is on the chalkboard and you won’t be disappointed. You definitely need to make a reservation.
Excellent food and wine. Cozy room overlooking the river. A bit noisy.
Great food and wine. Delicious vegetarian options and a lovely view to boot.
