Fergal Egan, a Ballymaloe trained chef from Offaly has created an exceptional menu using seasonal Irish produce in the most unusual and exciting way. Try his Pan Fried Duck with Jerusalem Artichoke and Dark Veal Stock reduction with a starter of Burrata with Madeira Poached Pear Basil Emulsion and Balsamic Curd washed down with a bottle of Chateau de Santenay makes for the most perfect winter meal experience.

We love winter at Winedown as our lighting and ambience really comes into it's own this time of year.

We welcome punters in for a casual late glass of wine and a small snack as well serving until 11.30pm.

For group booking please contact us directly by email (winedown@meltdown.ie) as we can accommodate with a set menu and a separate dining area where you can feel like you have the place to yourselves.

Really enjoyed our meal at Winedown. I must say the term "little plates" is a little misleading, in a good way. The pork belly was exceptional and there was plenty of it, same for the burrata and the chips with garlic dip. We had the main of halibut which was also plentiful. The rhubarb mille feuille was excellent. We will be back.

We booked a table for 10pm with the aim of having some wine and food, when we got there we were informed that the kitchen was closed and could only order drinks. This was disappointing, the wine and service was good but we left unexpectedly hungry.

The staff and food were absolutely amazing. The whole meal was gorgeous. Will definitely be recommending to friends and will be back again. Only downside I would say it was very cold, everyone had the jackets on.
