   The sashimi platter and prawn toast were great, however I was let down by the main dishes we had. The lamb was very fatty, the scallop fried rice was generous in terms of the seared scallops on top but the rice was average. Would have liked the side of green vegetables to cut through the heaviness of the main dishes but it was too saucy and salty. Took ages for someone to take out order. One of the waitresses was excellent and had a lot of knowledge but the other staff were very green and didn’t really know any of the ingredients and let us work out the menu ourselves. We sat on the high chair tables and it was very dark, we could hardly see our food.

    Over all service was what let our experience down. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived which was fine we didn’t mind waiting but after being seated we waited for at least 20 mins before anyone came to talk to us about the menu or offer a drinks menu. When ordering we didn’t get much assistance in recommendations and it felt very rushed. We were told the kitchen was closing shortly after we’d ordered and if we wanted to add anything else on but we hadn’t even had our mains at that point so it was hard to know if we’d of liked more which was the case. It was a busy night so we understood how under pressure everyone must of been but we’ve been left a bit disappointed with our experience.

    Go for the decor and vibe but the food, drinks and customer service are subpar at best. Went due to the social media hype and the visuals but will not be returning.

    Food wasn’t exceptional for the price paid. The steak wasn’t soft as what you’d hope for paying $110 a piece. $125pp Sashimi platter had the wow factor but didn’t hit the mark with value in terms of pieces given. Service from staff was great.

    Service was fantastic, and the food was to die for. The BBQ Lamb was the highlight, definitely has a kick as highlighted by the waitress. Would also highly recommend the Chocolate Delice! Surprised to see a live DJ playing really good music to fit the vibe and ambience of the venue.

    Prawn toast was really bad and the stew beef was too sweet. Sashimi platter was not valuable at all only a few pieces of average class sashimi not fancy. Service was okay but obviously short of staff. Would never go back for food but would like to go for drinks.

    Such an amazing experience at Yugen. Once you step in the elevator and head down to the restaurant, you feel like you’re in New York. Such a beautiful venue and vibe. Can’t wait to go back.

    Absolutely loved Yugen. Such a beautiful venue with a cool vibe. Food and service was spot on as well. Definitely order the kingfish sashimi, the prawn toast and the lamb. Make one of the best dirty martinis I’ve had as well.

    The venue was beautiful. We had a waitress that was still fairly new we asked her for coke zero she brought diet coke instead so we left it for a bit. Then I asked her if she had coke zero she said yes then comes back with another diet coke? So i went and asked another waitress if they had and she brought me coke zero. So we were a bit confused and not happy with that situation because we just paid for 3 cokes when we needed one correct one. Overall 6/10

    The decor is quite spectacular and the service was very professional but apart from the eggplant dish a lot of the food was overpriced and not spectacular. I felt quite unwell after eating the bbq lamb shoulder which was overly spicy and not flavoursome. Made me feel ill immediately and was 3 times in the toilet. Another thing I found was that the service was very professional but no real sense of warmth or hospitality and they were very keen to move us off the table.

    Probably one of the most amazing experiences and venues to dine at in Victoria at the moment. Unbelievable service quality of food was 10 out of 10, and the Yugen team were amazing.

    What a great experience food was exceptional, this is one of the finest Japanese restaurants I have ever experienced, great food great service, great all round, the glass lift going down underground to a restaurant is quite amazing. Food was just perfect, everyone needs to experience this restaurant great prices and the bar was one of the best I have ever seen. Definitely will be back to try more of the menu.

    Nice place! Staff were lovely & helpful! We enjoyed a nice ambience. BUT! The set menu was overpriced. Food was horrible. Party of 6 for 1.2k ? Please replace the dry chicken skewers & pork. Not worth 150 per head. We won't be back! Place is overrated. Its all about the chandliers & the bar!

    Great new restaurant that I hope to revisit before long. Loved the decor...drop dead gorgeous bar. Excellent cocktails . Great diverse asian menu made it hard to decide. Oysters a standout. Presentation top notch. Great flavours.

    The first restaurant I came to visit after I arrived in Melbourne. It is a modern restaurant with an impressive design that caught my attention as soon as I walked in. The dishes were beautifully presented, and the serving sizes were larger than what I typically see at other upscale restaurants. I particularly enjoyed the Yellow tail king fish ,it is so fresh. Service at Yugen was also top-notch. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, I would highly recommend Yugen to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Melbourne.
