From shore to soil, provenance is paramount in producing a menu full of show-stopping dishes such as the Captain’s Seafood Platter; a two-tier shared tower of grilled Irish lobster and steamed Roaring water Bay mussels, plus fresh oysters, prawns and Howth smoked Irish salmon, served with Guinness brown soda bread and traditional seafood accompaniments and sauces; or the Sole Meunière; a whole Dover sole, which is filleted at the table for you.

Great food, good value, nice atmosphere and good service
We visit Dublin 1-2 times a year and have a few favorite restaurants but we always like to try someplace new each time. So, we chose Sole and had a wonderful meal and experience. Service and ambience were excellent. We had our best dinner of this latest trip to Dublin...Sole outbeat our favorites and became a new favorite! We will be back!
Came for my partners birthday whilst visiting Dublin. Absolutely exceptional service by the staff, we were very well looked after. The food was amazing (octopus and lobster) and also the wine was beautiful. The staff brought out a little birthday dessert for my partner which was the icing on the cake. Expensive but so so worth it. Will definitely be returning!
Lovely venue with great service but the food was disappointing
Lovely meal and very good service. The fish is as fresh as possible. Highly recommend.
Excellent service and fabulous seafood. Definitely worth a visit.
Great food, good service, would definitely recommend for a quick seafood dinner in central Dublin
We had a fantastic dinner at Sole. The delicious starters were a lightly dusted octopus and grilled prawn! I had the sole which melted in my mouth and was expertly filleted tableside. The cheese course at the end topped off with an amazing chocolatey dessert and melt in your mouth homemade ice cream was delicious, satisfying, well prepared, and memorable. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience in dublin!
We had a great family celebratory dinner on Friday night , staff were extremely accommodating as our booking changes & party size grew ! Food & service were both excellent favorite dishes were king prawn appetizer, grilled sole & lobster cakes ... we had a late evening , the friendly staff never rushed us.Will definitely return soon
A bit expensive for what it was. The fish and lobster were too dry, the wine selection limited.
Lovely dinner experience with outstanding service from Ante and lovely food also. We were in Dublin for a birthday celebration and so glad that we chose SOLE
Really enjoyable meal.
Definitely one for a special occasion.
Beautiful decor, well presented and local food.
Attentive but unobtrusive service
Can be a little pricey , but it has everything
You would expect from a top class restaurant.
Sole is not cheap, but probably worth it. I had very good haddock and chips as a main course. Starter of Prawn Cocktail was a bit on the dry side, so I had to ask for more Marie Rose sauce, which was produced pretty quickly. Otherwise it was a fine dining experience.
The waiter was on top of his game. Outstanding to all our needs
Fabulous food, amazing setting, great service.
House white wine was outstanding!
Arrived 10 minutes early and asked to wait at the bar. Was left at the bar for 30 minutes. The table we were given was right beside us and was empty from when we arrived. The service was very slow. Our candle container exploded while our server was taking our order, she did remove it but our table was not cleaned and we ended up removing the bits of glass ourselves. We didn’t wait for dessert as at this point we didn’t want another long wait for it to arrive. Over all the we felt it was nice but expensive and probably won’t return.
Lovely restaurant, lovely food and lovely staff but unfortunately small portions. Mackerel fish is very very cheap to buy and getting one small fillet as the fish dish of the day was disappointing. 2 course early bird @ €30 is overpriced. It costs a restaurant little or nothing to slightly increase portions, even the salad leafs served with the Calamari starter was very little, a few extra costs nothing and keeps a customer happy.
Great food and service. Quiet and really enjoyable. Had a lovely bottle of Rose with the food
Everything is soooooooo yummy!! Best meal during our trip at Ireland!
Service was the highlight, that and the fresh seafood of course. Thank you Sole!
We are from Chicago and went to Sole when visiting our daughter who was working in Dublin for a year. We were greeted by a very friendly host who made us feel right at home with his humor as well as his efficiency at seating us. Our waiter was Ante we could not ask for a better server and person who was well informed and attentive. The drinks were amazing and did not skimp on the alcohol! the food was outstanding. I would return again and recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting Dublin
Really enjoyed eating at Sole it is the perfect location for a pre theatre meal , staff were great and food was delicious! Really lovely experience.
We had a very pleasant evening at Sole as a group of 4 friends. Sole is situated in a big space so if intimacy is required then this is not the restaurant. The staff were attentive however we do not like having our water and wine glasses filled up every 10 minutes and we like to be left alone to enjoy our meal. The food we chose was tasty however the menu is overpriced. The wine list is very expensive (OK if there is a wide choice cost-wise) so we were not encouraged to have a second bottle. The bottle of wine was €60 and there seemed to be very little choice below this price level. Overall, I believe that it is a shame that like so many other restaurants, Sole does not rely on returning customers and has designed their menu choices and their price point accordingly. We were 4 adults - we had a pre-dinner drink, one bottle of white wine, a glass of red wine and an after dinner drink - we had 4 starters, 4 main courses and one cheese board. Our bill was €440.00. With a tip - our bill was eye-wateringly expensive. Perhaps Sole appeals to diners paying through expense accounts and that is fair enough. We don't mind splashing out, however, I did NOT feel that Sole was the special dining experience suggested by their prices. We are lucky to live in a city that offers so many fabulous dining experiences at a reasonable cost - I will choose better next time.
Good ambiance, but the service wasn’t top. Every time the waiter checked how things were going he managed to interrupt someone. Isn’t it better to wait til they’ve finished their sentence? The waitress serving our wine was better but I guess I expected a bit more for the price. I would recommend for a special occasion for the food but service is nothing special.
Really good food, great staff and ambiance. Definitely have the mussels.
Excellent service, great food, the right ambience for special occasions. A little on the pricy side.
Fabulous is all I am say and the best Dover some I’ve ever eaten. Faultless in every way.
Great food and service. Very nice menu.
Would highly recommend.
absolutely fantastic restaurant couldn’t fault anything!!! Amazing seafood platter, great wine and first class service. Highly recommend
Great food, with a wonderful ambience and an expert, friendly server who guided us towards the right choices for each course. We'll be back.
My wife and I dined at Sole on Saturday and had a great meal and value for money!
I will be back to get the stack!! it looked unreal! I will be recommended Sole to my friends! One of the best fish and chips I have eaten.
Amazing service, really good fresh food!
We enjoyed having a first cocktail at the bar.
Friends from Finland want to thank you- it was wonderful feeling and amazing food ever🇫🇮
Lovely seafood and great service , the seafood tower with the lobster was very tasty!
It’s seafood not rocket science keep it simple and keep the price right
We had the Captain Seafood Tower for 2 and it was absolutely worth the money. Very nice atmosphere also - we had a wonderful evening.
The vegetarian dish was made with imagination, tasteful and colourful blend of ingredients, served with thoughtfullness. Equally the starters and desserts. I liked that the meals were the perfect size not too much or little, no feeling of uncomfortableness afterwards. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially David at the bar who kept me company while my dinner partner was late. Ambience unintrusive which is hard to find these days I think. Very happy with my experience there.
I chose sole for a father/daughter dinner, i chose it because it was the sister restaurant of FIRE (my fav restaurant in dublin) i had heard many great things about the place. When we arrived the outside didnt look very special and it was on a busy nightlife street but as soon as you walk in the door your are transported to a sifisticated dining experience
We were seated right away and made very welcome.
The price was very reasonable. We both had 3 courses both including lobster and 2 bottles of wine and it came in at under 200 euro
The food was outstanding and so fresh
Defo my new fav seafood in dublin
Excellent food - highly recommend
Outstanding food and service, fully recommend for a nice evening meal or special occasion.
